Rematch of Super Bowl XLII. REALLY pumped for this one, don't know why.

Guess it's because I hated that the Packers were in it last year and I was bummed the Vikings didn't make it the year before. Anyways...

Who you rooting for? I'm personally going for the Giants, because I really like Eli Manning. Should be a good game regardless though.

I dont care as long as I get my Dirty Eli Manningwich topped with the oh so special New England Clam Chowder Tom Brady Gravy. (Name the reference for 20.)

But I dont like the Patriots, so Giants all the way.

I'm glad that the Giants won (I was rooting for them), but honestly the Pats should have one at the end. There were three or four incomplete passes in the last drive, and they should've HAD that Hailmary.

In all honesty it was a pretty crappy game until the last quarter. IDK, it didn't have that exciting feel to it.

I'm obviously bummed that my home team lost, but eh. I kind of predicted it from the first quarter (a safety? are you serious?).

And I was swearing my head off at the TV at all those dropped passes on the Pats' last possession. The hailmary was also freaking close...if it had bounced a foot higher Gronk would have gotten it, I bet.

Bleh. Ah well.

Yeah. There were a couple cool catches in the Giant's first drive but most of the first 3 quarters were uneventful. Last quarter was fun to watch though, and it was a close game, which is always good.

Those drops really hurt the Pats, though.

Yeah the last few plays were intense, I don't even like football and I got a little pumped rooting for NE just because I like to root for the underdogs so they can make awesome comebacks XD

Anyway, I'm not big on the SB compared to most people but IMO it's more about all the hype before it, the entertainment (commercials concerts etc... and I heard the commercials were generally not nearly as good this time though I didn't get to watch many) etc. than the game, I mean it's hard for every super bowl to be an awesome game unless it's rigged.

...Though I wouldn't be too surprised if there was some rigging going on in some cases. Then again this isn't basketball we're talking about, hmm....

Yeah. Usually the Super Bowls are rather good games, because it's usually two teams riding momentum that are pretty damn good to begin with...sometimes you do get a Super Bowl where one team clearly dominates the game, such as XLV last year. Just seemed like the Packers were always in control.

I'm happy you guys actually have a topic for this, the folks at TEB aren't very enthusiastic about football.

In my opinion, it was a fairly good game.
The sideline catch by the Giants was amazing.

Well a lot of it has to do with hype. You're excited over every little thing and have so much anticipation and ultimately there's going to be to some good plays here and there when people score so said anticipation is filled a little bit. But it's not like people can force the super bowl games to be so much better than the real games--from the outsider perspective, you can only change the environment of the game, not the game itself.

Indeed. I'm not saying that the Super Bowl is always a good game. I happen to be a huge football history geek and I know there have been many SB's that have been blowouts. 1985, 1994 and 1998 were all blowouts.

IIRC, the 1985 contest ended up Chicago 55, New England 10.

Oh my.

I dislike being in GMT+1 when needing to be up the next day. Otherwise, the game was fun to watch.

No Man Utd. - Chelsea though.

^Aye, I can see how that'd stink. Ah, well, timezones hurt most of us in some way or another at some point in time. Then again the U.S. dominates a lot of things so it's probably easier to live in the U.S.'s various timezones than elsewhere >_>

I agree with Blazer though, about it being more hype than anything. Even on my highschool team, all people really give a shit about is being pumped up biggrin.gif

The game was in the US, in a US league, so I'm not that surprised. It's just harder to watch it by myself at that hour. Last year I saw it with a few friends.

Saw it with the family. Wasnt expecting New England to do pretty well than their 2008 Super Bowl game.

I always expected the Giants to win that game, and quite honestly, I was surprised about why they weren't favored to win that game. I rooted for them the entire time and it was a really good game. Sure it wasn't a nonstop highlight reel or shootout, but it was close throughout. It got a lot more interesting at the end, like most championship games should. I didn't see any of the commercials because I watched an online stream. Nevertheless, I always viewed them as overhyped and nothing special anyway, so no big loss.
