Wait... so is this legit? I can't tell haha, is this farce actually happening or is the farce itself a farce? lol |
It's a madhouse. Security is everywhere, people are all confused, and attendance is underwhelming. But Putin wanted it, so Putin got it. Just was really, really expensive to put on.
One of the great guys of "freestyle skiing" (AKA skiing and artistic jumping) defended his gold. Alexandre Bilodeau, whom I truly respect because of his actions (explained later), won gold in mogul skiing. Dominated with an 87.7% score (the next highest was ~82%) during the last run.
Bilodeau is a great guy. His personal hero is his brother Frederic, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy. When he won in Vancouver 4 years ago, his first reaction was to go bring the guy out of the audience. Honestly wouldn't want anybody else to win this time.
(For you Americans, Pat Deneen make the final round, ending 6th out of 6, but doing really well given a shaky start)
EDIT - Here's a picture someone caught after with Bilodeau. One guess who's on the right.
It's really heartwarming, really (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
EDIT 2 - Going to dump a huge number of goalie masks here. The art nerd inside me loves seeing this
USA. Ryan Miller and Jonathan Quick (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
Norway. Lars Haugen, Lars Volden, and Stefen Soberg (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
Lars Haugen - Really nice. Probably one of my favourite non-Jonas Hiller ones
Lars Volden - Colour seems off for the viking. That's forgiven since last year Norway sent my favourite name ever: Tore Vikingstad.
Stefen Soberg - TROLL HUNTER
Sweden. Henrik Lundqvist and Jonas Enroth (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
Henrik Lundqvist - A little cartoon-y.
Jonas Enroth - Traditional "brick wall" motif.
Switzerland. Jonas Hiller and Reto Berra (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
Slovakia. Jaroslav Halak and Peter Budaj (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
Jaroslav Halak - Beautiful and simple.
Peter Budaj - See above.
Russian Federation: Semyon Varlamov (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
Finland. Tuukka Rask. I'll be honest, all I can think of when I see anything related to Finland's coat of arms is Scandinavia and the World's "One special lion" (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
Canada. Carey Price, Mike Smith, and Roberto Luongo (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
Carey Price - Second only to Hiller in awesomeness. He has two masks by the way.
Mike Smith - Don't really like the totem coming up the middle, but the leaves on the side are great.
Roberto Luongo - Pretty much kept the same one from last time - Johnny Canuck on top, "Canada" across the chin guard.
Oh, and worst mask award ever goes to Austria's Bernhard Starkbaum
