Risette was my fave character in Persona 4 Golden so o/

 

though I also liked Yosuke... and Kanji... and Naoto... and the rest aren't terrible either lol

 

in general I like characters who are funny, though for some I'm laughing with them, and others I'm laughing at them... haha

but FOR THE RECORD IF THERE'S ANYONE WANTING TO START A WAIFU WAR I wasn't saying anything about best girl or the like, nope. I'm not much into that, I might have a favorite character (independent of gender etc.) but I always thought it sounded shallow to say something like "best girl" or "waifu" as if though they're objects/trophies to be adored, though that's just me--anyway, Yukiko is also great, she was one of my main characters for well... most of the game, IIRC almost all of it really, so yeah haha. I am not going to argue "the" best tho, everyone has "their" best (or none at all like me) so =P

(though the former doesn't sound like it can have trophy connotation since it has no implication of possession, which is the main reason I use it since I do value individual characters differently)

haha, I mean, I don't want to offend anyone who is into that. We all have our own standards and all. And yeah best girl doesn't have as negative a connotation as waifu I think, the latter is more of a "weeby" thing (dare I say it lol), which makes it sound like some fictional group of pixels is now your (and a ton of other people's...) trophy-wife of sorts lol

The terms are pretty silly to be quite honest.  They sound so silly.  Though I certainly have my favourite and I love parodying these crazy groups (which, at least I hope, most people using the term waifu are doing these days).  Can't do it too often though due to Poe's Law.

 

I think we all have our favourites and have reasons for having our favourites.  It's personal opinion and I'm one to not tell people can't tell you your opinion is wrong if it's a purely subjective realm of thought.

There probably aren't many people that seriously believe in wanting to be married to them, but considering the amount of people that will just watch something for a voice actor(ok, ok, I am one of those people kind of, BUT STILL) in some specific role or something, and more importantly, all the porn being produced at pixiv and dA, and shippers, it's probably not said so much as parody. I think at this point anime fans saying waifu is like african americans saying nigger.

 

It is great fun saying BEST GIRL (all caps mandatory) whenever I have the opportunity though. Kind of hard to find a male version that rolls off the tongue as well though...

I always thought the dA stuff was more or less a case of thinking the character was hot or wanted to add an 18+ component to the fanon.  Now self-insert fanfiction with your favourite character as the romantic interest.  That's more that direction.

 

Re: VAs.  I don't think I've ever done that before.  Though I admit I do a lot of research while watching since some voices always stand out and I want to find out who it is.  This has led me to thinking "Really? Kari Wahlgren has THAT voice?" an inordinate number of times.  I've seriously never managed to find two roles of her which sound similar.  Some have similar cadences but never enough to really put the two together.

18+ component to the fanon only really makes sense when the porn is of in-story characters, research(yeah, research, it's the best place to find out about the vulgarity of humanity, after all) and what others have told me tells me it's usually anonymous dicks instead, or just nothing but the character(s) in question in suggestive poses and nude. (although, porn drawn by girls will usually be of in story-characters. And gay. Always gay.)

 

Yeah, BEST MAN is kind of too specific of a role elsewhere also my favorite male characters tend to be underage Imeanwut
