so daggers though(and shuriken I guess). These are suddenly very useful in fates. Being able to throw out various debuffs simply by staffing l attacking is super cool imo. Haven't found a reason yet to not put in a dagger user. Except for the fact that Felicia has some of the worst stats from any prepromote(besides the original jagen, that useless bastard)

I heard that Jakob/Felicia have higher level caps and gain EXP faster than actual pre-promotes. Well, my Jakob is certainly performing very well right now, in any case.
One problem though is that the weapon triangle this time around seems to actually really matter, and I keep forgetting what shuriken are actually weak against. Dodgetanking doesn't seem like much of a thing in Fates...

you seem to be right about dodgetanking. even with 40% enemy hit rates felicia still gets hit pretty often tbh. my biggest problem with her is that her strength stat isn't high enough to do anything but just apply the debuff and let someone else clean up. her speed often gets in a double hit, but it's still only for about 7 damage each hit if i'm lucky. usually it's closer to like 3 per hit. i wouldn't mind so much if she had higher crit chance(like at least 15% maybe). idk, maybe i just need to feed her a few more levels.

yeah, I kinda forgot they were even in previous games LOL, but now they're like, legit their own thing here, knives and shuriken both. And I generally have one too, preferably one that can unlock chests, and I've used the Maid/Butlers too... but eh. I didn't even think of them a pre-promote (even if they are) since like Mercurius said, they gain EXP a bit faster and have a higher level cap, so it's not awful.

LOL yeah the weapon triangle matters a bit more here, but I'm ok with that. Also, as far as remembering it goes, the icons are kinda color-coded—if you check behind them they are either blue, green, or red, and the color at the bottom is what they're good against, IIRC. (I'm not totally sure because my memory is poor but yeah.) Hopefully that helps. (And no, dodgetanking isn't *as much* of a thing, especially with all these skills and other things that affect avoid and hit as much as they do...)

hate the RNG in this game sometimes, got hit by so many b.s. crits and missed some high ones too, moreso than other games, lol. but apparently it runs on a 2-RNG system or whatever like before, so I don't even know.
and yeah, that low strength really stinks. means you're attacking for not much else besides debuffs. And said weapons are already kinda weak. This is why bow-users are just way better for offense: you can deal TONS more damage which has various benefits (e.g. dual attacking, sniping enemies at full health, especially fliers) versus the knives/shuriken which are solid but unless you're using like Kagero (who has high strength) you're generally not dealing a ton of damage and can't finish off enemies well (if at all) and you're mostly stuck finishing off enemies or playing support, which can be a little bit of a drag... that's not to say bow-users are better, I just like that each one has their own dynamic/niche/whatever so it doesn't feel like any weapon type is particularly useless or bad.

There's a magic-based shuriken, though I'm assuming you will have to go roam around Hoshido castles(still haven't tried doing that kind of thing yet, I haven't really advanced in the game since it came out) to find one. Normally I'd be pretty iffy about using those kinds of things but this time they have infinite uses so...

I am absolutely convinced there is no 2 RNG system this time.
On topic: Jakob/Felicia being prepromotes? It's hard for me to believe. But apparently they promoted from the toubadour class. If it were me, I'd just say they were one of those special classes. You know, like how Marth was his own special class that had no promoted form.
Daggers/Shurikens are great. I gave Jakob a Flame Shuriken and he rocks it. I've come to really love the Ninja class, even though I have never really cared for ninjas in any way. (They're overrated, IMO)
By the way, what's the deal with the Spy's Shuriken? Does it actually reduce ENEMIES' stats, or yours? I can't see it being very useful with that 1 Might and being stuck with 3 range. (And unable to perform follow-ups.)

If you're using Shurikens for offense you're doing it wrong lol. Shurikens' perk is that it's the only weapon in the game that's good a 1-2 range besides the magic weapons. And the debuffs are crazy good. The thing with Felicia is that she has high magic but low attack, Jakob has high attack and defense. So Felicia won't do much damage until you get the magic shuriken.
@Blazer And really bows aren't that great, it's more the unit that actually makes them decent. Such as Niles having high res making him a great mage killer, Takumi with his OP bow, Reina having high movement. And Setsuna is just crap.

my niles has had some of the best level rolls you could hope for on a bow user. Right now he's rocking 12 strength and 17 speed iirc at only level 11. I don't think I noticed his res being outstanding, but it may have been overshadowed by him destroying a knight with a crit. Not promoted btw.

Aye, I guess infinite uses and such has maybe made me a little more liberal in using rarer weapons, if that's what you mean... lol

lol, for what it's worth it was looked into back in the Japanese release (since I and others also thought the RNG was bogus) but IIRC after looking into it and even doing experiments and stuff it was shown it's the same RNG system as usual and is not like... FE6 RNG or whatever
aye, I just think of them being their own special class, that you can also coincidentally access from some unpromoted classes, if only so IS could get more use out of them/not have to think up new classes, lol
the Ninja class is basically the closest class to the Assassin class in my book so I'm cool with it lol. The animations are some of the best in the game IMO so there's that too (I'm a big fan of cool-looking animations)
Don't remember about any debuffs but the Spy's Shuriken is useful preicsely because of the 3 range. I used it to snipe an enemy or two and there are other weird cases it can be useful, I guess, but yes, it's a niche weapon overall and like the 3-range bow is mostly used for offensive sniping or the like.
maybe the RNG seeding is just total balls.

don't be rude. people can do whatever they want with Shurikens. you're such a bitch man.
point and case. now you want to hate on bows. look, I never said bows were the greatest thing ever. all I was saying is they fill in a niche/have their strengths, which they do. Takumi is good regardless of what bow he uses, Reina has high movement because of her class so what dude, and Setsuna might be relatively bad but to other characters with her terrible level-ups but she can still be very useful on the battlefield. you're full of shit Cero go die in a hole or at least beat the game before you start talking complete shit. you're almost as bad as the weaboos.

It's like having a cleric be tank.
lol the hate. I was just trying to say it was more of a Shinon case where the characters were what made it good, barring Reina. You're correct in Takumi being good which whichever with backs up the point that I did not get across very well. And I did misconstrue your post and thought it said bows were best for offense which I apologize for. Maybe this will stop you from having another hissy fit.

LOL
I can't imagine myself not hating on you at least a bit
it's too much fun
I don't actually care about the argument much so I'm not going to respond to that
