Here is my first sprite and it's pretty basic.

That's pretty good. Better than any spriting that I've ever done because all the tutorials that I've seen are very confusing . Can you recommend some???

I already watched that tutorial, but, okay, I'll try it.

By the way, try to put some shadow under Joshua'a chin or make armor overlap over his chin.

Nice, here are some suggestions to improve it though.

- Recolor it. The colors are from the original characters and splices always look better with different characters.
- The neck looks just a little odd... I might try and extend it a little bit but depending on your spriting capability doing so might be a little challenging, no offense.
- Take out those red hair pixels at the bottom. You shouldn't have pixels that stick out like that and why would the hair be there but not the rest of the body?

You need to stick with 1 game palette. Right now you have FE6 and FE8 :\

Your mixing fe6 and fe8 pallettes, the neck seems a bit too short. I think you can do a bit better overall. Also, it may be just me, but i think the head is a bit too small. Overall, you need to stick to one pallette group, either fe6 or fe8. Also, recolor the sprite while your at it.

The back of the neck looks funky, on the left side of the person's armor are some purple pixels around the shoulder and they aren't really doing anything there, get rid of them or something.

That and all of what DH Ninja and bloodfalcon said.

Still not a horrible splice for a beginner I've seen both worse and better but it's decent but not ready to be finalized IMO (it needs some touch-up work).

What's bad about mixing two different game's palettes?

They don't match. The two outlines are different, and the colors don't blend in together at all. FE6 and FE7 pallets together are alright, but it's better to stick with one game pallets at one time. FE8 uses much darker colors.

In addition FE8 skin colors are way different compared to FE7 skin colors. :\ Just felt like I had to add that.

Don't mix a guy with a girl...

You messed up the shading for his hair horribly and there's random gunk beneath the mug.
Before you post your works, try to make 'em look nice by deleting random stuff around it...
Also, try to work on your shading and color choice.

Otherwise, great job for a novice!
