#114436 Skin Work/Short Downtime

Posted by Fire Blazer on 01 February 2014 - 02:56 AM

Hey guys,

Some of you may have noticed the site was down for a little, almost 2 hours I think. As it said, I was doing some skin work and as things can get sort of crazy sometimes I turned the board offline so I could work in peace. Sorry about that.

Now that the skins are in slightly better shape, my next job is to work on implementing the new skin we voted on having: a skin based on the hack The Last Promise. I've already sent over the request for a new banner to Shu. I also took the chance to take a look at the existing theming for Lethal, which admittedly I didn't do myself.

It's rather advanced/complicated as far as theming goes, so this is indeed going to be quite a bit of work on my end. If it works out well I would, in fact, be willing to do a skin with some Fire Emblem girls which will replace Lavender Earox.

We are also going to be getting rid of Prime Charged as it's outdated and we can't maintain it anymore. I apologize if anyone was fond of either of these skins enjoy their last moments, mwahahahaha.

While I can only really say we're doing the TLP skin for sure, we would in fact like to have the girls skin done by summer (if not sooner, anything can happen so we're really keeping our timeframe open) and after that I think we'll probably be making an FEShrine V3 skin, something for late 2014.

That's about it as far as theming goes, out with the old and in with the new, at least a little. Let us know what you think, if you have any questions, etc., this is your forum and we try to do some basic upkeep to keep it running and the such, if there are problems or things to be fixed or whatever we can at least hear you out if it helps make the stay a little more enjoyable. smile.gif

#112198 A few things

Posted by Fire Blazer on 13 December 2013 - 04:57 AM

Site activity.

Will increase.

I've added some profile fields. Enter in your Nintendo Network ID, PSN ID, and other such things if you desire. I'll probably go make a thread for that now too actually, haha. Discrimination against Xbox though

Looking for someone to make new emoticons. That's a thing. I can pay $20 for a set of 20 Fire Emblem-based emoticons. Preferably good ones. Via Paypal only, paid AFTER you do it only. Show a sample before taking it on so I can approve.

Can't think of anything else but be sure to say hi to your fellow members in the shoutbox.

Later.

#110641 Lethal Skin & Downtime

Posted by Fire Blazer on 23 August 2013 - 04:27 AM

Hey guys,

I know there have been some issues with the Lethal skin, I spent some time just now and though it was tiring, I should have fixed it. The issue was that the original creator of the skin uh... well, I don't know too much but he kinda just ragequit and pretended like his site got deleted and also screwed up some code used in skins (and his skins are used a lot), therefore messing up sites like ours that relied on his code.

After searching it up on Jcink, I found a few related posts, and pretty much Jcink has stopped supporting it as a result and has said he will be a little bit more uh... stringent when it comes to having people's skins available and where the content is hosted so something like this doesn't happen again. But yeah, there's no more going back to that skin.

...Well, for most people tongue.gif.

I'm not totally helpless, so although the skin is no longer supported and the code is messed up, I used a few of my own tricks to get ahold of the files I needed, make a few tweaks, host it all on the Fire Emblem Shrine's mainsite, and reset the skin back up. It should now work on Chrome again, as well as other browsers, with no issue. If it's not, try shift+refreshing and/or restoring your cache first, and then let me know with as much as info as possible, though I'm not sure I'll be able to fix it, since the skin is technically no longer supported.

With that being said, I apologize for the issues the past few days and hope that those of you who enjoy the Lethal skin will return to it. happy.gif

EDIT: Also had to do some maintenance on a private matter, I apologize for the slight downtime this past midnight (EST).

#110304 Fire Emblem Buzz

Posted by Fire Blazer on 16 August 2013 - 07:16 PM

Hey guys!

For those who haven't heard, the mainsite is currently being revamped quite a bit. In light of this we're creating a twitter uh... feed? account? idk, a twitter SOMETHING that will have the latest news on Fire Emblem. It's open to all people, of course, not just members of the Fire Emblem Shrine, but the idea is to get some more attention to it and keep people updated a little bit easier, instead of forcing people to scavenge forums for the latest news, or otherwise just missing it--and you would be surprised how much you might miss!

That being said, I would GREATLY appreciate ALL of your help. If you could follow it, even if that means making an account to do so, it would be a great boost to the idea. The twitter feed will be integrated into the new site and make the community seem that much more active. It may also eventually bring in new Fire Emblem players into the community, though we'll have to get our following up there first. Tell your IRL friends even, DON'T BE SHY!

https://twitter.com/fireemblembuzz

Thanks for anyone kind enough to support, you have my heartfelt appreciation. =)

We may also have some giveaways on the twitter later, so that's all the more motivation to follow it--who can say no to free stuff?

#109490 Shoutbox & Other Adjustments

Posted by Fire Blazer on 16 July 2013 - 07:05 AM

Hey guys,

I made some adjustments to the forums recently.

First, the normal shoutbox view should now have timestamps on its messages.

I've also updated the menus at the top to link to the Portal (which I just set up), the place to change your Shoutbox Settings (there's a good reason I abbreviated it "SBox Settings" but I don't feel like explaining), and the IRC chat. I took out a couple highly unused links like the Help menu and the War Grounds (that's right, no more archaic text-based Army System anymore... sad.gif).

I also took out the phpBB and IPB 2.0 skins. They're too generic and bland and the skin list was a bit cluttered. I'm not a huge fan of clutter and quantity isn't really quality in this case (personally I think Lethal is like, the best looking skin, straight-up).

Regarding the SBox Settings, you can change it so that when you view the full shoutbox, you view it normally, as an iFrame (not suggested), or a "pop-up" (it says pop-up but it didn't actually work like a pop-up for me, though ctrl+clicking might help with that...). You can also change a few other settings or hide it entirely (though that would make me rather sad).

Anyhow, the idea is I wanted to promote chatting in the shoutbox a little more is all. People are also free to down the refresh time or use the IRC chat if they need faster-paced chatting.

Lastly, I'd like to work on getting a lot of new "smilies" AKA emoticons but I was hoping someone could help me here as this is far from my field of expertise. Even something simple would be appreciated.

I may have more updates soon so let me know what you think of these and stay tuned.

- Blazer

#108242 Scavenger Hunt

Posted by Fire Blazer on 08 June 2013 - 02:15 AM

Just for fun really, but see the other thread I just made for more info.

Any questions or issues, please e-mail me unless they don't contain sensitive information and you can post them here without any foreseeable negative consequences.

To get started, go to http://www.feshrine.net/scavenger/

If you get stuck on a certain one, let me know here. Just say "I got stuck on #___", meaning you couldn't get that code but got the ones before it. If enough people get stuck/it's not obvious enough I might give a better hint or something. (The first one could be potentially tough if you don't think of how you can submit stuff to me via the FEShrine... *totally just made the hint slightly less vague*)

With that, good luck!

The prize is a custom member icon of any capacity that doesn't otherwise break forum rules. In addition, it has to be of modern quality, so no magazine scans from 1989.

-Shu

Update: To make this more fun, we're going to have multiple winners. The #1 winner is Ryoku, who just one. He has won on route #2, and there can still be a 1st prize winner on route #1. For 2nd place route #2, I'm offering up any member icon of a Fire Emblem character--meaning you've got a little less freedom there. Said icon may eventually turn into an icon that multiple people can use as well because it's tough work on Shu here XD. Same for 2nd place route #1.

Therefore there are 4 winners, 2 1st-places for each routes, and 2 2nd-places. Also, the scavenger hunt will be up for a while yet if you just want to try it and have fun. happy.gif

1st-Place A Route: kirant
1st-Place B Route: Ryoku

2nd-Place A Route:
2nd-Place B Route: Oblivion Knight

#80019 Fire Emblem 12 Hack: Rebirth 2

Posted by Fire Blazer on 05 November 2011 - 04:26 PM

You're open to guess why I'm making a Fire Emblem 12 hack when the FE12 translation is still in-progress, the answer probably won't satisfy you

So. I'm making a hack of Fire Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow. It will be based off of that game. It's actually a sequel to another hack I made called "Fire Emblem Rebirth" (thus the "2" at the end). You might be thinking "what else can you even hack besides text?". I answer "this game won't just have English text (as it'll be based off of the translation patch), it'll have edited text, and use my other FE12 hacking capabilities. What are my capabilities? Well, I'm pretty sure I can hack...:

user posted image

The List (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)

- text of almost all kinds still can't hack the damn title screen textures, akjdaskljdaspp
- palettes of almost all kinds some palettes are just stupid
- character growths
- character stats
- weapon skill levels
- portraits
- starting class
- starting inventory
- starting co-ordinates
- starting level
- any type of graphics I was able to hack for the translation patch a custom battle template would be so win biggrin.gif
- shop inventories
- music
- basic events/cutscenes
- mini-portraits
- map sprite graphics doubt this will be useful though
- weapon icons

Stuff I haven't figured out but probably can:

- class data as a whole
- item data as a whole
- terrain graphics also doubt this will be useful

Stuff I currently have no hope of editing:

- maps
- battle animations
- everything else not mentioned above I think

Stuff I intend to hack in this hack (AKA goals):

- text
- character growths
- character stats
- weapon skill levels
- portraits
- starting class
- starting inventory
- starting co-ordinates
- starting level
- miscellaneous graphics, if someone helps me
- shop inventories, minor updates for fun
- mini-portraits
- class data
- item data
- weapon icons, if new items are added only (prob won't do this unless someone inspires me)

This hack is a RESKIN. RE-SKIN. It's an FE12 reskin though, and given that no one has done any real FE12 hacks, nevermind reskins, I think it's relatively innovative.

Anyhow because it's a reskin that means the plot will generally stay the same. However the characters won't. This is where people come in. You can sign up for a character if you want.

READ (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)

Disclaimers:

- I hold no obligation to accept your profile
- You can attempt to sign-up for an already-taken character and if your profile is better or I simply feel that you are more fitting for that spot, you may get it; if you don't get it your 2nd or 3rd choice will be used, if all of those are taken
- The only fairness in these sign-ups is the fairness I give, I'm trying to make this job as easy as I can for me, and thus these sign-ups are not guaranteed to be fair. In fact they won't be, I'm going to be biased and people I know are more likely to get earlier, better slots than new members or people I don't respect etc., but given that FE12 has a LOT of characters, there should be enough slots for everyone who wants one.

Example Sign-up (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
Example Sign-up with Details:

Username: Blazer - your forum username
Character Name: Blazer - the name of the character. Must not be too long, like I'd limit yourself to 8 characters.
Replacing Character: Marth - your first choice for who you'd want to replace. Somebody else might have this too, that's okay. Marth, Hardin, Generics, and My Unit are not applicable choices (I might replace Marth or might not depending on how thinis work out, the rest are to be untouched)
2nd Choice: Gordin - if you don't get your first choice, your 2nd choice
3rd Choice: Navarre - use common sense

Starting Class: Lord - must be an existent class and fit the gender of your character. Your character
Starting Level: 6 + 1 = 7 - must be within 3 levels of the character you are replacing. Put the starting level plus the bonus and then the final level (7 in this case) like I did.
Starting Inventory: Steel Sword, Levin Sword, Elixir -- limit to 3 starting items. Should be balanced; should not be all high-tier weapons. If you are a Hero, don't have a SilverSword and SilverAxe, settle for a Steel Sword and Hand Axe, don't be unfair to make your character have a broken inventory.
Starting Weapon Ranks: Sword (A) - self-explanatory I think

Starting Levels and Weapon Ranks of original characters can be viewed here: http://www.serenesfo.../char_base.html

Stats/Growths: Stats should be absolute base stats and should not result in any extreme values (like super high strength, super high speed, super low skill, etc., use good judgment, or else I will use my judgment). Absolute base stats can be found here--http://www.serenesforest.net/fe12/char_base_a.html

Furthermore, the stats should use the same amount of total points that the original character uses + (level change x 3). Marth has 31 points for his base stats, but I increased his level by 1: thus he gets 31 + (1 x 3) = 31+3=34 points.

Growths should use the same % the original character has plus a 10% bonus I'm granting. Base growths should be used, found here: http://www.serenesfo...har_growth.html. Marth has a 305% total, +10%=315%. Like stats, there should not be any major extreme values like 100% strength. No growth should be over 100% except for HP unless the original character had a growth that was 100% or more to start with. Lastly, all growths should be in increments of 5%, as hacking growths in is actually quite difficult, and making it like 43% would be a pain in the ass.

HP: 9, 55%
Str: 5, 45%
Mag: 0, 5%
Skl: 7, 45%
Spd: 3, 50%
Luck: 9, 80%
Def: 1, 25%
Res: 0, 10%

Portrait: Use same as original - this can be any portrait that is not abnormally large but is no smaller than a standard GBA portrait. It's color limit is 128 colors. Blinking and talking frames will not be added due to the difficulty in them, so don't plan for those. It does NOT have to be an FEDS style portrait or even a GBA FE style portrait, it's kind of up to my discretion whether it fits or not but I'm up for anything fun and silly.
Mini-Portrait: Should be a miniature version of the above, following the same general guidelines. It IS required.

Notes: I am being lazy and so I am not changing a ton of things here. - this area is for anything else you want to add to his profile or mention.

Okay, now that all that is done, you may sign-up for characters. Please be thorough. Anyone can sign-up and I will likely accept you unless your profile is inadequate, so yeah. However you have to be ready to update your profiles constantly as I won't go hunting you down to have you fix problems with them.

This is not exactly a community hack because while I am looking for help, only one person has been willing to help so far. FE12 hacking is not hard, and I could help teach it. In some ways it's easier than GBA hacking and in other ways, so much harder.... There are also jobs like management (checking profiles) and putting in nightmare stuff (yes I have FE12 nightmare modules I'm making in progress). The unit data will probably be done with the Event Assembler (I will probably abuse macros big time to make my own FE12 event coding language XD) so if anyone wants to take a crack at that, that'd be great.

And furthermore the sign-ups are open to all the FE world. So I guess it's a community hack where the community is the entire Fire Emblem community. Except I'm only posting it on a couple of places so some people will have to come to the hack. XP

That is all for now I think... Let me know what you think but try and be mature about it, I realize this idea has its flaws, there are better, more effective ways to point them out than being an asshole. Hope you guys sign-up, it's free!

Err, um... no offense, but the Halberdier animation sprite is... kinda... >___> bad

Aside from the feet and the bottom part of the lance it doesn't look very FE-ish. Maybe you should just ask The Blind Archer or MK404 if you can use their Halberdier animation

Updates

June 26th, 2010: It's confirmed that all characters in this game have already been introduced in existing Fire Emblem games.

June 27th, 2010: New playable characters not ever playable in past official Fire Emblem games are confirmed. One such character is Gheb, from FE8.

June 27th, 2010: A video was leaked onto youtube but later removed. However, it has been spoiled that the game is undoubtedly only one chapter.

June 27th, 2010: Apparently the hack is of Fire Emblem 7. In a video of a necromancer glitch Hayden and Fado were shown.

June 27th, 2010: Another video shows Dozla fighting Eirika, although it could likely be a test video where allegiances are temporary. Some other units are shown in the background map as well. Link.

June 28th, 2010: Plot information has been revealed. The game takes place on a new continent where an FE7 vs. FE8 war takes place. The game is set for a release on Thursday, July 1st, 2010.

July 1st, 2010: The game was released late on this day. The game is complete and includes 4 alternate modes.

July 2nd, 2010: A new patch with several issues fixed was released today.

July 2nd, 2010: Even more updates to the game (nothing new, just fixes and the such). Hopefully this will be the final release.

August 18th, 2011: A few very small fixes/updates. I guess my last release wasn't the last release after all. I just felt like updating this, for some reason.

This game takes place on a remote island never introduced in any Fire Emblem game. The characters of Elibe and Magvel have both gathered on this island to wage a war against each other, in order to see which of the people and games are better. The Elibian characters are specifically from Fire Emblem 7: Blazing Sword, and NOT Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurigi (Sealed Sword/Binding Blade).

Thus the main characters of each side rally their former allies and enemies alike to face off against the people of another continent in a Sacred Contention.

I will not answer certain questions nor will I confirm certain information. So if you try and guess what the game is about (if it's a sequel or what) I simply won't respond, whether your guess is right or wrong.

I'm now open to questions and the such, although I may not be able to answer EVERYTHING, I should be able to answer most questions.

The game is now out, so you can ask anything you want to. However please refrain from making serious suggestions on things to add to the game. The game is complete and nothing will be added--only fixes will be made, if necessary. Thanks for your understanding, and enjoy the game! happy.gif

#406 Count to 10,000

Posted by Fire Blazer on 28 November 2008 - 11:06 PM

Count upwards, but you can use other methods of showing your number. like instead of 2, you could do 1+1, or 4/2, or the square root of 4, or show an image of the number, or say something of that number.

I start biggrin.gif

1
