I think my last update here was a while ago, so here I go:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Switch, June 18th, 2017
Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows, Switch, June 18th, 2017
I Am Setsuna, Switch, June 25th, 2017
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, Switch, July 12th, 2017
Super Bomberman R, Switch, July 15th, 2017
ARMS, Switch, July 21st, 2017
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, 3DS, July 24th, 2017
I and Me, Switch, September 3rd, 2017
IMPLOSION, Switch, September 7th, 2017*
Splatoon 2, Switch, September 12th, 2017
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd, PC, September 14th, 2017

I've been kind of stressed out and stuff so I decided to do some gaming recently, thus the sudden 4 games beaten. (Granted, they were all games I had for at least a little while, so it's not like I suddenly bought them and beat them right after, but yeah.)

Comments:

MK8 Deluxe - OK, basically already played it, just a slightly better and portable version of the Wii U one, really

Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows - same issues with checkpoints and the death system as the original/first campaign, decent level design and platforming and boss fights though

I Am Setsuna - It was ok, but kinda bland, had a bit of backtracking with the chests and stuff, the story wasn't that interesting, main character is a bit boring... combat system was a little fun, I guess. Music actually wasn't that enjoyable for me, even though some seemed to like it a bit. It was just kinda bland IMO. Anyway, wasn't bad overall, but it wasn't good enough to make me want Lost Sphear or w/e (which seems to basically be a successor to I Am Setsuna)

USFII TFC - Even if it's just an enhanced port/remaster or whatever it was solid and I kinda enjoyed it, I'm weird and don't mind that it's just a simple port or w/e, and the way of the hadou mode wasn't that great but it gave me a little bit of fun, once I figured out how to consistently do the inputs I wanted with the joy-cons it really wasn't that bad, IIRC I actually enjoyed it a little bit

Super Bomberman R - My first Bomberman game, it was okay but I really was not that good, in fact I kinda struggled and died a lot lol, it seems like a decent light-hearted type of game, but not really my type of game tbh, I don't really have any desire to play any other Bomberman game, even if it's better.

ARMS - Solid fun, seems quality and polished overall, and rather enjoyable, though I wasn't great at it. It didn't like, super impress me, but I didn't mind buying it and wouldn't mind playing people in it, though I wasn't really a fan of the motion controls, I like just standard button controls for this game, unlike with Splatoon 2 where I use motion controls a bit too

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia - Very fun gameplay minus the map designs, I like the cast and the original game and the music is super awesome for the most part, it has quite a few memorable songs for me, and the voice acting was great, and overall it was the first FE game I felt like I could just actually enjoy and not have reservations about it or just actively dislike it since like, idk, maybe FE9, I think Echoes might have been more enjoyable for me than RD too... anyway, the game has plenty of flaws, and kinda suffers from still having that 3DS FE look, but overall I'd probably give it a solid 8-8.5/10, which for me as an FE fan is good enough that I'm happy and not really complaining as a whole, if anything I was surprised that a Gaiden remake turned out relatively well. So yeah. That being said, I still don't trust IS as a whole, so yeah. XP

Side-note: I had already beaten the game in Japanese (on April 23rd, 2017) so this was a replay in English, which was worth since I tend to enjoy English much more than Japanese, and the English voice acting here seemed even better than most dubs, lol.

I and Me, Switch, September 3rd, 2017 - A weird puzzle game for the Switch, it was ok, a bit tough at times, and somewhat minimalistic, but has decent puzzles and atmosphere and was enjoyable, so I didn't mind buying it and playing it.

IMPLOSION, Switch, September 7th, 2017* - An action/hack'n'slash kinda game, it was basically like fighting in a little mech thing against zombie-like enemies and monsters and stuff, anyway it was cool overall but rather repetitive so I wasn't super thrilled about it and really had to like, take my time trying to beat this game, since I'd get bored after just like a level or two. The story was there and the voice acting was okay but it was only just decent overall, not impressive. Which is fine, but I'd only recommend it to an action game fan who's kinda bored for something on the Switch, it's nothing that exciting IMO, nor does it do anything that really felt original or left an impression on me.

Splatoon 2, Switch, September 12th, 2017 - The gameplay is good but there are so many issues with this game. The limited map rotation, only being able to play certain ranked modes at certain times, forcing people to hit X level or rank to do Y, online Salmon Run not being available all the time, limited lives in the campaign, no way to go back to checkpoints... the list goes on and on, like ughhhh, this game could be like a 90-ish game if it had more original content (stuff that wasn't in the original Splatoon, e.g. a new ranked mode and/or other stuff), a campaign without a live system and with a better checkpoint system, better online with a proper party system and voice chat and a higher data transfer rate for more online accuracy or w/e (it's apparently rather low even for console games, can't remember the details but basically you can have some weird laggy stuff happen to you and it's not fun), and an actual single-player mode that wasn't just a minimalistic level-based thing with some snarky comments and stuff thrown in, they built this Splatoon world and the next step IMO should have been obvious, create a more fleshed out single-player with a story, but it's Nintendo so ofc they just do something similar to before with a story about as equally as uninteresting as a whole, and it's just "meh" since you're paying $60 for this and a person like me expects a weeeee bit more from a $60 game.

tl;dr, gameplay is solid but the game has tons of issues, some of which were present in the original but not fixed

And that has upset me enough that I'm not really interested in a Splatoon 3 or the series in general anymore unless they really overhaul things and make it a great experience overall.

(Side-note: I got S+ in Rainmaker and did decent in Splat Zones [but don't like Tower Control so didn't play that much] so it's not like I'm bad at the game, but the framework in which its built just means that I don't want to be invested in it in the long-term because it can end up being more frustrating and inconvenient than its worth)

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd - Played it reluctantly as I wasn't really excited about it and am not a fan of the main character and stuff (and playing it did not make me like the main character or his partner), but the side-stories and such were good, as was the new music, so I guess it was okay in the end, the important thing is I now know what happened and can move on to other Trails game, hopefully ones with less rehashed content, since man this game has a lot of it. (It's the 3rd game in a line of story-focused turn-based RPGs, in case you didn't know, and they reused quuiiiiiiiiiiiite a bit of stuff from the first 2 games.) So yeah, it's whatever now, time to move on, I've got a lot more Falcom to play, lol.

Far Cry 2 - Idk the date

I mean it was a big step up from the first game, but there's really not a whole lot there. All of the missions are essentially the same exact thing; go here, get call from buddy, proceed to objective or buddy, kill bad guys, profit. Speaking of the buddy system in this game you meet all these people along the way that you can choose to help on missions or ignore. This led me to believe that my choices would affect the overall outcome.. but as far as I know, you still

Spoiler
. Not much in the way of story, either I mean you can tell the focus for Ubisoft was immersive gameplay. To be fair, they certainly achieved this, almost to the point of tedium at some points. I mean there's no minimap so you have to press select to bring up the map the dude carries with him which can sometimes result in a death. There aren't any checkpoints in this game either, so you need to make sure to save every chance you get else you want to end up a very sad camper. One thing I did take away from this game is the moments leading up to a rainstorm while you're playing. The wind will steadily increase in speed and the sky will become overcast over time, and I thought they did a great job at making it feel like you were in the eye of a storm. The gameplay is pretty basic and the vehicles, which there are a pretty loose selection of, dont differ much from eachother so getting around gets boring after a while.

I know this comes off as very negative, but I actually really enjoyed the game... but that being the case I also felt that it deserved fair criticism, which this game seems to lack on the internet lol. No Far Cry game will ever be as good as Far Cry 3 for me, but this deserves my #2 spot for sure. Unnecessarily long review over

tl;dr - gud game, dum story, very immersion wow cool games man

Great game. 8/10 would play again.

Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver --3DS VC --Sept/Oct

"gentwoer" is such a weird word, lol

I do want to play Gold/Silver again eventually, but I can definitely afford to wait a while. I've got enough Pokemon on my plate without replaying old games, so yeah. and that one is especially long and not so old that I don't remember it that well. (plus I beat Yellow not too long ago, so that's kind of more motivation to avoid replaying a Pokemon game.)

Monster Hunter XX / Nintendo Switch / 10/13/2017

At last, I have defeated the final bosses of singleplayer and multiplayer modes!

Now I can use the feature I bought this game for in the first place! FASHION HUNTING!!!

oh also the game has become hard as hell on me because my main weapon was nerfed to hell to the point of which even though I'm no longer handicapped by using very suboptimal sets for the looks my kill times against the same monsters has become longer with every single time I do the two attacks meant to be used for the actual damage dealing of the weapon being extremely risky and punishable because the enemies have faster attacks and recovery times than my hunter does

well at least I can put it away for a while so I have time for Nights of Azure 2 coming out soon

Borderlands 2 for the (count up times played in head) 6th time. Tried to play Axton again but at about level 13 the call of Krieg got me to restart as a psycho.

Moving on to the Prequel as Jack. I just got the Handsome Collection if you can't tell.

DmC - Devil May Cry

As far as reboots go, could have been a lot worse. Doesn't really hold up as a devil may cry game, but on it's own it's a very fun game.. Pretty short though. What can I say? Definitely better DMC2. Oh and the combat is so fluid, albeit on the easy side, its definitely the strongest part of this game.

Spoiler

I've honestly only ever beaten the game as Mechromancer.  The character is too funny and the strategy "SAVE ME DEATHTRAP" is too much fun for anything else.
