I present to you our first spriting contest of this forum.

It's a very, very simple contest. You simply take parts of the following 3 mugs and nicely put them together to make a spliced portrait. If you don't know how to do this, I can't really help you in this topic, it's not for that.




We'll need 3 judges. Judging system is like this.

Coloring/Palette: /5
Effective use of each original portrait: /5
Customization/doesn't look completely like one mug or the other: /10
General Appearance (Like/Dislike): /10

Makes a total of 30 points. Person/people with the highest score win. There is a 2nd place winner as well, but no other winners unless we have 6+ contestants (which I doubt).

I'll Be a Judge, got nothing better to do anyway... and It's a little Too Hard to make Splices (I need to do it fast, because I have a Low tolerence rate...)

Don't have a name for it, But it's pretty Simple, Nino's Colors (Clothes Hair Skin) Limestella's Body, and Natalie's Eyes.

So you want to be a pokeman masterjudge, huh? Well, what qualifications do you have, may I ask? (I can't have just anybody be a judge or how will they know how to judge).

If DH_Ninja isn't busy I'm thinking of having him judge considering his spriting ability, as for Shu I want to but he admit himself that he's a GFXer more than a spriter so I'm not sure, and as for Tino it depends on whether he can or not and whether he wants to participate or not.

To kick this thing off, here's my entry.



Tanalia, a random name for a random OC. Eyes and hair/headband colors are Natalie's, bottom is Nino's body with Limstella's colors and Limstella's little color gold trim thingy.

Cox- Yours needs refinement IMO, but now that you've submitted it it's too late.

Destran- very nice, the colors blend well. And I rushed mine as well, it's a simple contest and we don't have a collection of amazing spriters yet (no offense, we're not a huge forum) if I can get something going perhaps others may be motivated (like new members or something). I dunno, but the idea WAS Cox's, and I didn't see a problem with it as long as it was simple. xD

EDIT: Didn't see Ryoku's. Yours is nice too except for that one bold blue, but then again once submitted you can't change.

As for me competing, that's not gonna happen. I'm too busy these days to do anything that takes a while, and I know making a good splice can take quite a while. But I generally do know what to look at when it comes to sprites, and judging the sprites doesn't take too much time.

Ryoku
Shu, I honestly can't believe how you could give such an horrible palette such an high score. The colors are absolutely horrible. Ryoku, please work on your palettes, and do it quickly. 1/5

As for the use of each portrait, it's horrible as well. I just see a horribly recolored Limstella with different eyes. Colors aren't part of the portrait. Technically, they obviously are, but that's not what we mean. We mean parts of the body itself, not colors of said body. 1/5

It's also horribly customized. Awful coloring, a horrible green line across her body, and just a different pair of eyes. And none of those parts are actually customized at all. They're just that: Limstella's body with eyes that were taken directly off of another character. 0/10

Her general appearance is also not all that great, in my opinion. As I said, her palette is horrible, which doesn't make the sprite very nice to look at, and that green line (which I assume is part of her hair) across her body looks horribly awful. Her eyes also don't seem to fit in with the rest of the body at all. 2/10

Final score: I'm absolutely sorry, but this gets a 4/30 of me...

Genesis
Coloring is decent. Not much else to say. 3/5

I see you've used Limstella's body, and the customized other parts of other characters a bit, which means you used every part of every body very well, so this deserves a 5/5.

Though you used all characters effectively, and even though her head seems customized, her body is simply Limstella's, which makes the score drop a bit. But I want to give you a cookie for the head, because it seems well done. 7/10

The appearance of this girl isn't the greatest in my opinion, though. I like how her head turned out, but I dislike it in combination with the body. Would the body have been different or even customized a tiny bit, it probably would look a lot better. Still though, because she has such a cute face, I'll give you a 7/10 for this.

So that gives it a total score of 22/30. Great job
