I don't play FE anymore, but when I did, I usually just spammed Sword master, hoped for the best. I would say I was completely terrible, but I put a lot of effort into FE 4.
rofl, go play Fire Emblem you punk, this is an FE forum, we don't want you here otherwise *shot*
Also. Just so you guys know.
There are people that struggle with Normal mode of Awakening.
How this ever happens is COMPLETELY beyond me, but yeah.
you are too high up to understand the feelings of people who aren't as good at FE as you

random replies aside (I did skim the posts but I'm lazy and don't feel like responding to almost everything like I sometimes do)
I said above average but maybe I'm sliiightly better? like if we're going tiers, maybe I'm high B tier? S-tier being max? haha
I did beat Lunatic Classic with minimal grinding, so that's something... it was definitely one of the more challenging FE experiences at the beginning, and even beyond that, at times. Unfortunately I can't take GBA games seriously as I can cheat on them, and same for FE10 (that game stinks--err, well, rather, I didn't really enjoy the gameplay much, so I put on cheat codes and I don't think I could play it without it now). So it's hard to say how good I am at them without cheating or savestating. But trying to think back and in terms of how I play, I can probably handle most hard modes of anything FE6 or after with enough effort, and I do spend some time managing inventory, starting positions, and trying to plan things out, but I almost never do extensive research into my characters, efficiency, etc.--I pretty much plop my units on and only think a few turns ahead, or in terms of general ideas ("my thief needs to go here and I need to take out X and Y to get there", "I will have my cavaliers go here, this person to that village, and defend my healer with some unit I don't really care for if it comes down to it", stuff like that, as opposed to being overly tactical and trying to get a low-turn count).
I think I have a pretty good mastery over the fundamentals, so I can do things like rescue-games, trading items to manipulate equipped items, baiting the AI, etc., but nothing overly complex, exciting, or efficient.
Yeah I guess that about sums it up... but apparently if Normal and Hard on Awakening were found hard for some people, then I've probably gone from "pretty much anyone can do what I do in an FE game" to "apparently I actually have some skills that quite a few people don't", which is why I said I'm about "above average". I mean, a C is generally considered average (at least where I'm from), and I said B, so yeah, sounds about right =P
