ahh yeah, that makes sense. I'm personally ok with plot-related difficulty or difficulty spikes to some extent, so long as it's within reason. I mean, when you think about it, bosses are basically plot-induced difficulty spikes, are they not?
now that the PS4 remaster is a thing though, I might just give up my PS3 copy... buh... why did I buy a game like that when I wasn't even going to seriously attempt to beat it anytime soon... >_>' man, glad I'm slightly less of a moron now.
...The more I hear about how bad this game's story is, the more I feel like I really need to see it for myself.
Here I was hoping that Invisible Kingdom would be a better alternative to the other two paths, which seem horrifically tragic.
The thing is, at least for me, the other two routes really weren't that tragic. Granted, I didn't play Hoshido and I only got spoiled by who dies thanks to some freaking idiot bastards on YT who think it's ok to just give it away either by the title or thumbnail, but assuming it's basically parallel to the deaths in Nohr, the execution was done so poorly for me I couldn't really give a crap. I mean, yeah, it's kinda sad, but it could have been about 1000x times sadder if things weren't developed so poorly, IMO, and I instead actually got to know the characters besides their core trait/relation to the main character (your Avatar).
And in a way Invisible Kingdom is
EDIT:
Actually, I was kinda looking for this thread to post about 2 more games, and then didn't really realize I was in it (clicked on it via a notification) and almost didn't do what I intended to... haha
Race the Sun, PS Vita, January 15th, 2016
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, 3DS, January 17th, 2016
Thoughts:
- Solid game. Wasn't going to play it, actually, but thought about it and decided to. Don't regret it. It's a simple game where you basically fly a solar-powered bird and try to catch up to the sun while avoiding obstacles. By meeting objectives you gain levels which adds more to the game such as accessories or new pick-ups or such, and that lets you get further into the game, etc. etc., so it's a basic formula but I found it to be pretty fun regardless. For a free PS+ game, solid and I don't regret playing it in the end.
- Going to copy/paste things I said elsewhere to conserve time:
"Finally beat The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time."
[2:12:17 AM] ballin1337: The 3D version.
[2:12:53 AM] ballin1337: If I wanted to cry, it'd be because I finally finished this game I've been wanting to finish for such a long while. I didn't really enjoy it/I didn't think it was a great game, but nonetheless with everyone praising it/it being such a classic, I wanted to finish it anyway.
[2:15:07 AM] ballin1337: I kinda get why people like it so much, but it just wasn't there. Too many things I didn't like, from the story-telling to the character designs to the backtracking to the often boring music (I only found a few of the songs good, fight me—I'm used to games with amazing, adrenaline-rushing or super catchy music or the like so this just doesn't appeal to me much).
[2:22:05 AM] ballin1337: Now I just need to beat WWHD and ALBW and I'm finally caught up on this series. (As if I'll do that in time for the new Zelda... thank goodness I'm not interesting in Majora's Mask 3D or Twilight Princess HD.)
And on Twitter (read bottom to top):
Followed by, after I beat it:
So, yeah. That's that. XP
4 games beaten so far this year, not off to a bad start but to beat over 100 I'll have to keep this pace up, and that seems unlikely given all the RPGs on my backlog, haha. Well, the most important thing is that I'm making progress—in all honesty, I probably won't beat 100 games this year, and that's perfectly fine/not that important to me (I just thought it'd be cool to do it eventually... also, last year was a bit of a disappointment for me, with only 51 games beaten), and also there's the problem of "do I even have 100 games I want to beat?" to which the answer is "yes, but I'd need to dish out a looot more money before I get there", haha. My backlog of games I have but haven't beaten is big but it's not 100 games big, which I suppose is a good thing—I feel like I've been making progress, despite the fact that I'm always just adding more games to my backlog, so it's like a never-ending queue... >>' XP
(despite all my ranting though, it's fun playing games and fun trying to catch up on my backlog, so while I'd like to finish eventually so I can maybe not feel overwhelmed by the amount of games I'd like to play, it's not too bad. =P)
