I heard there was a simple way to make it so you can play Japanese games on your SNES by cutting some tabs inside of the console. Is it true? Because if it is, it's going to be awesome to finally be able to play FE5( I don't download roms.)

That sounds really... dangerous actually. Have you seen this on several sites?
I'm sure there's a way to mod your SNES to remove the region lock on some more reputable places...

Now THAT is interesting. Never heard of it before. Although on the guide it also says something about a converter; that might be safer, right?
IDK, I wouldn't try this mainly because I suck and I'd probably end up poking a hole in the main component of the console >.>.
But if it's an official guide (I believe GameFAQs only publishes the ones that work) then if you do it correctly, however dangerous it is, it probably does work.
Actually I just thought of this. maybe you could try getting a picture of what a Super Famicom looks like on the inside? Then compare it to the little diagram thingy that guy has, and see if it would like it if tabs A and B are cut off. Idk, just an idea.
Good luck, though; I'd kill to play Fe4 & 5 on an actual console

I haven't heard anything about this so I personally wouldn't do it, but if you have nothing to lose then go ahead.
Also getting a Nintendo DS with an SCDS2 which has an SNES emulator for it (which can in turn play english FE5 portably) would be much better than playing a Japanese FE5 on an original SNES IMO... but your choice

Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?
There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.

id be more willing to believe that from a source not called Nintendo. I chose to believe the words from a law school professor (my source). these sites have won legal battles in the past about how they can legally stay up and running
