@  Fire Blazer : (21 May 2018 - 07:16 PM) @Kirant yeah, in a way it is, but also FE1/3 were kinda already remade already, so in that sense, FE2 makes sense (being the oldest game to not be remade, lol)
@  Fire Blazer : (21 May 2018 - 07:16 PM) tfw Idiot tries to sound smart XP
@  Fire Blazer : (21 May 2018 - 07:16 PM) lol
@  Idiot : (20 May 2018 - 11:20 PM) So,the answer is the coin itself.
@  Idiot : (20 May 2018 - 11:19 PM) Oh yeah if you do that, the coin will go up... And then it will go down, thanks to gravity. Genius.
@  xcrash1998 : (20 May 2018 - 02:26 PM) Time for a coin toss
@  Idiot : (20 May 2018 - 01:32 AM) I'm conflicted in deciding which question to answer.
@  xcrash1998 : (19 May 2018 - 01:58 PM) What's up, anything down?
@  Valke : (19 May 2018 - 11:44 AM) im alive
@  Valke : (19 May 2018 - 11:43 AM) hello
@  kirant : (19 May 2018 - 05:40 AM) It's interesting to me that they went with Gaiden as their latest (possibly last?) 3DS release. I mean, it was always mechanistically so strange for an FE game.

Then again, it's so obscure that they can practically treat it as new content.
@  Fire Blazer : (18 May 2018 - 06:41 PM) yeah, it's "too" accurate to Gaiden in some respects, if you catch my drift. and yeah, Echoes is considered FE15 AFAIK
@  Rujio : (18 May 2018 - 06:20 AM) (wait is Echoes like FE15? wow)
@  Rujio : (18 May 2018 - 06:19 AM) It sounds like at least the map flaws (maybe the story, too) are simply because it's a remake of an NES game, so I'd be fine putting up with those. I played quite a bit of Gaiden, and I enjoyed FE11, so
@  Fire Blazer : (18 May 2018 - 02:35 AM) FWIW, I enjoyed it quite a bit. But it's got a lot of flaws. Mainly the maps and some story issues. But it's way less cringey than Fates, with great voice actin and music along with some elements of good writing and fun gameplay, among other things... tl;dr, I'd say just try it yourself, haha
@  Rujio : (17 May 2018 - 09:40 PM) So on the topic of, you know, Fire Emblem, I just realized that Echoes exists, and it actually looks like it preserves Gaiden's quirks pretty well AND avoids a lot of the terrible story stuff from Awakening/Fates. Will I actually enjoy this game?

So now that I've completed my first run on Hard Classic with little intended grinding and various other stupid decisions like never touching the forge ever and never getting the Boots from the DLC I figure I should do another run with some better foresight to prepare myself for the notoriously difficult postgame content. Testimony claims people have done it before DLC overclassing was even available so I am going to do it without 'em too.

  • I will be doing the second run on Hard Casual. Because it feels stupid to me to have to deal with permadeath in a postgame dungeon and because Normal Casual is for chumps. I will also be turning animations off the whole way through and shamelessly abuse the hell out of the turnwheel because I already got the proper experience on my first run anyway.
  • I will be focusing on ten units because only that many can go into Thabes Labyrinth anyway. Camus and Faye will be given the free DLC Villager's forks. for extra levels. Camus, along with Atlas, Kliff, and Deen, will go through at least one mercenary loop to make up for my inability to overclass.
  • I saw that bridge next to Rigel Falls on the map before, had a whimsical thought of "lol, wouldn't it be funny if I could cross that?" even though it wasn't connected to the lines, and didn't bother trying on my first run. Turns out I can cross it and that it's great for lategame grinding. Gotta be ready for anything.
  • I will use absolutely no stat fountains at all until after I have recruited Tatiana and Conrad, and I will then have those two hog ALL the stat boosts from them and stat boosting food. I'm playing on casual anyway, they won't be as important as they were on classic.
  • I will look up which sidequests are actually worth doing for rewards.
  • I will use the Boots on Faye because she has Rescue.
  • I will make sure to forge the Rapier, Rhomphaia, Saunion and Beloved Zofia.
  • I will hold the Taurus Star Shard when grinding.
  • I won't recruit anyone I don't need, outside of the characters they force you to have. Valbar can go to hell.

My team will be:

  1. Alm/Hero
  2. Celica/Princess
  3. Tatiana/Saint
  4. Faye/Saint
  5. Silque/Saint
  6. Camus/Gold Knight
  7. Kliff/Gold Knight
  8. Conrad/Gold Knight
  9. Atlas/Gold Knight
  10. Deen/Gold Knight

Because who needs class balance when your team has the best dresses and armors.

Items I will need to keep in mind (because people will need them and because Alm/Celica can switch their equipment via the convoy without issue) include...

  • Rapier (Super effective against armored units and cavalry units)
  • Rhomphaia (Combat arts which are super effective against armored/cavalry)
  • Saunion (Range+2, meaning 2-5 range in total)
  • Beloved Zofia (I don't know how good Ragnarok Omega will be for sure but it sounds OP.)
  • Gradivus (1-2 range and Camus' official weapon, in the final dungeon)
  • Blessed Shield (Half damage from terrors)
  • Hexlock Shield (Half damage from magic)
  • Speed Ring (TEN SPEED BOOST, either going to someone with stupidly high strength or Silque)
  • Mage Ring (Range+2)
  • Rusted Ring (Potentially forged into a Mage Ring, can't be savescum'd for it though)

Are you going to be crazy enough to take on the Thabes Labyrinth without paid DLC too?

I might do it at some point in the future. Most of my damage done in the boss battle was via people who had gone through the villager loop (Conrad and Deen), and the characters I overclassed didn't even see that much combat (with the exception of Alm).

Granted, I was playing on normal casual, so I don't have much room to talk, but...

So, how balanced is this game?

In terms of cross-class balance, I hear apparently other people like 9 Dread Fighters + Alm or Celica for postgame. Dread Fighters being basically the only anti-mage class in the game.
