What do you think about death sentences? Honestly, it's a must have, in my opinion. I think it should be used for serial killers, wife/child beaters, and people of that sort. Some people have just done too much to be worthy of a second chance, and they would blow that second chance on more criminal acts anyway, most likely. Sure, some can be trusted to be changed, but it's not easy to trust who is changed and who is acting. Discuss. |
If child beating was a capital crime, I figure my country would have say, 5 fathers.

@Ephy... again xD

No, see, domestic abuse is not assaulting someone, it is beating them over and over again, manipulating them to forgive you, and beating them again. And for God's sake, don't tell me it isn't. My friend's step father abused her and her mother, and I grew up with a man who abused his wife. I know this. |
I won't pry into personal experience, and I have no intention of saying repeated beating is worse then a one off. That's obvious >_> However that shouldn't really be specified as a man and woman should it? I'm going to bring in the homosexual issue in here as well since that would allow for the repeated beating scenario. And for the sake of argument they are accepted in this example, don't care about your views if it's right or wrong.
In the case or repeated beating in a homosexual couple what would happen? It's unlikely both are of equal strength (one has to be stronger then the other, even if it's just the differnce of luck) would you say that this is crime equal to or a lesser crime then beating a wife/kids?
And for those non-gay supporters the male repeated bashing scenario can be used in an abduction sense, where you kidnap a grown man, confine him and use him as a punching bag.
Are you saying such cases are less important then if the victim had been a minor or a female?

To be frank your comment is sexist -How so? |
Lets see your claiming women are weaker and need protection from men. Hence you are proposing that women be be given special treatment over men in cases of violence, how is that not sexist, I mean it's not detrimental to the woman but sexist does not equal women=victim, it can apply to makes as well, I'd accept spouse beater (maybe) but wife beater is no different from husband beater.

You said that men are stronger than women. If you agree that men are wired stronger physically, why NOT make laws to protect them? Women are often, not always, but often weaker than most men. It's only fair to protect the weak from the strong. It may not be common, but it is definitely fair. Protecting the weak from the strong is just right. |
Ego.... That was my initial thought but anyway why protect the weak? Who even says women are always weaker, as you pointed out no one it just usually is the case. However in contrast to your gender treatment, be defining females as the victims that need protecting you are equally stating a female child should get more protection then a male child. And in the case of a big grown man I doubt strength matters all that much when it comes to beating them up. Protecting the weak isn't something people offer, (which I'm sorry to say but seems to be the American misconception) protection is sought and offered, hence the woman in your case must seek help (from whatever authorities) and the authorities should deal with it just as any beat-up case is. Offering help where it is not sought and insisting continuously is harassment or perhaps even oppression if you force yourself in.
