Hi, again a noob thread....

i kindly want to ask how do you make a custom battle animation? >3>

i searched here in the forums but i cant find a tutorial...

even Blazer's ultimate tutorial doesn't explain in making one XD

I would like to know where to start in making custom battle animations

and how to do it step by step.......

fairly sure the ultimate tutorial does have something on it. i could be wrong, but i think i saw something there. it might be better if you were a little more specific with your question though. are you looking for help with making the sprites, or formatting the text file for the animation?

The ultimate tutorial does explain how. I believe the section is in the 40s, part 46 or 47 if I remember correctly.

Do you mean spriting one or inserting one? Inserting should be covered by the UT, but spriting one is one you more or less need to figure out for yourself by using the existing animations as a reference.

i mean, making a sprite for the animation..

cause its cool to make your own char and your own battle animations

it feels like your the one in the game XD

Oh yeah you're kind of on your own for that. I don't know of any tutorials. Not to say that there aren't any though.

^this. It's more about experimenting than anything. To start you could try just editing the idle frame. Maybe splice in a new weapon just to practice and see what you need to do. Biggest tip I can give on this is to not get frustrated if you don't know what to do. Look at what someone else has done for ideas, and maybe even try to re-create someone else's work(please don't try to call it your own if you do though). Stick with it and soon enough you'll make something you really like.

That's not half bad for a start, haha. I would recommend using more color, since a black cape on black armor looks a bit bland.

Don't worry about being a newbie :), everyone starts out differently XD. I'd recommend downloading some ripped sprite sheets of the original GBA animations and playing around with parts of each. You don't necessarily have to make multiple animation frames yet, just change colors/weapons/outfits/hair/whatever on set frames you're interested in, then go from there. Practice as everyone else said, is key here if you have other experience with art (drawing/digital work, etc.) it can carry over and help a lot, but its not always needed :D.

No problem! I just meant that you should consider changing the color of either the cape or the armor, or even both. I'm not sure what sort of color scheme you're going for, but just play around with them until you find something you like.

That's a fine start! My immediate recommendations would be to put the head a few pixels down so it sits on the body more, and to change his legs so they're longer.

First you draw each frame (you can use original fire emblem frames as base or sprites from others games or draw it on paint, etc...)

each frame must use 15 colors + 1 trasparency

each frame must use the same color that the others frames

each frame must be a image of 248 width and 160 height

each frame on the top right must have the colors (2 rows of 8 pixel, the first raw have 7 colors and the transparency and the second row hace the others 8 colors)

 

before you must create a txt with the commands (there are a lot of tutorials about this)

 

before this you can add the animation to the game with the feditor, i recommend use this tutorial:
