Actually a real smart genius man, but I'll never show it.

My convincing skills are lack luster. Attempts to get my cousin to buy Splatoon have not worked.
aww lol, did you show him the memes?
Nintendo themselves pretty much promoted the memes loool
EDIT: by the way, if you're interested, it doesn't seem impossible to find Splatoon amiibo. In fact, the Splatoon 3-pack still seems to be up at GameStop. Try looking for the ones you want if you couldn't get one earlier and still want it! They unlock some cool stuff! =)

So Splatoon ended up selling over 1 million copies worldwide, which makes it a pretty nice success. I'm certainly pleased with it, especially since having a lot of people playing the game is important in multiplayer-focused games, haha.

Congrats Splatoon! Hope more people on FES get it so we can have fun times playing together or something

I will eventually get this game. Right now, my money is being spent on MTG. ;~;

I finally beat the game. The final boss was amazing.
Afterwards I went back to online, however I felt like I was at a significant disadvantage due to the influx of new weapons that I'm not familiar with (some of which are probably less than balanced...) and just all the time people have had to build the meta and get used to and get better weapons than I have. One of the down-sides of equipment having stats/giving bonuses, I guess; people who grind can have a slight advantage over those who don't.
and the meta is just my fault for not playing for so long, really. XP well, I probably won't play for a bit again since it's not as fun when not playing with friends. so I shall continue to wait, I guess~

Great game. They are constantly adding new weapons, having events, and in August they are adding a big new game mode, for free.
If anyone was on the fence buying this, do it. It's easy to lose a few hours messing around.
Also, the weapons are fairly balanced, higher level weapons really just give you more choice. Stat equipment, while helpful, doesn't make or break a game.

True on the last part, though I think it does definitely help
Like, those who have more options are definitely at an advantage, which is... eh, it's understandable a little bit. I dunno, somehow I feel like it just alienates people who aren't playing constantly, on a skill-basis but on a you-didn't-invest-enough-time basis.
It's only slightly noticeable, but whatever.
In general though, ditto what you said, it's definitely a game I'm happy to own. So unique and just straight fun. Kensai you should add me on Wii U and play with me and/or others sometime, though that might be asking a bit too much from someone who rarely ever shows up anymore.

Yeah, I signed in today for the first time in two weeks and there is a new map, and eight new weapons. I'll add you next time I'm online.
There is a definite reward for playing more, although I do like the ability to buy a copy of another person's gear. Beating the story mode helps as well. Quickest exp is to go on ranked, once you get a good team just stay with them as long as you can. 1000exp each win.

If you haven't been following Splatoon, August brought an awesome new update for matchmaking along with other new content!

Also, the new Ranked Battle Rainmaker mode! You can google and find some links like this and this if you want info.
Can't wait to actually play these modes with people I know.

meanwhile, I've come to realize some things regarding Splatoon (mostly how I feel about stuff but yeah):
- rollers are really freaking annoying, maybe even OP in the right hands, because people can jump up and SPLASH you with that huge attack and without really having to aim, unlike guns, and all they need to do is get relatively close to you, which they can do by camping/hiding in ink, double-teaming you in ways you can't take out two rollers once, or, what good players do, jumping from and away and attacking while jumping in such a way that you can't just shoot them down, followed by support with the KRAKEN special, which I have long thought is OP: it's super difficult to outrun (I usually end up getting caught by it), it's invincible, it can move through enemy ink, and it kills super easily. It's super hard to kill a roller if they have their special ready, you're pretty much completely forced to back up as far as possible and that or squid-jumping might not be possible depending on the circumstances (e.g. no retreat path due to ink behind you not fully being yours, not enough time to squid jump before being killed, etc.)
- tower control is so dumb ughh I don't like that mode
- having the ranked mode switch from one to another is kind of annoying in that it's inconvenient, I wish there were something I could do about it though I kinda get why it's that way—probably for matchmaking purposes, dividing up the user-base too much would probably be bad
- I'm pretty great at rainmaker and splat zones because I'm good at killing people, but sometimes not being able to properly communicate in order to strategize can be annoying--like sometimes my team would bunch up in ways that made it difficult to attack or where defense would be neglected, or I'd want to push forward but couldn't, or idk... other stuff... bleh
- being bm by spamming the kid-to-squid-and-back transformation over and over while winning (along with your up/down little message thingies like "Booyah!") is hilarious. sorry, we were winning pretty hard and I didn't have much better to do, and others joined in... I stopped once the dudes respawned and came back tho, wouldn't want them to see me being bm, that would be... well... bm... and not cool... more of an inside-joke, but yeah, I just like screwing around, get tired of *always* tryharding in Splatoon, lol
