Hey guys,

Would it be possible to completely replace sprites (GBA,SNES, or DS) with an imported picture?

My idea is to make clay versions of some characters and put them in the game. Why? Just for the gigs.

I'm in university for Stop-Motion Animation and I think this would be a fun project, I found the Fire Emblem modding community a couple months ago and you guys do a lot of cool stuff, I figure I might as well try my hand.

I assume the pictures would take up way more memory than just the sprites, but maybe there's some way to replace sprites with Nightmare, or possibly bypass memory issues using an emulator?

Admittedly I know next to nothing about modding, I'm just interested to see if this is even possible before I attempt to start anything. Also, if this project does miraculously turn out, I'd be happy to share sprites, assets, etc. with the community.

Thanks so much for any and all help!

-Charles

Very doable. Just reduce the color count of the image to 16. I use Usenti to do this. Might look horrid, might come out great, you just have to try and see. After that just format it like it's a normal portrait.

You may also want to look into the ultimate tutorial made by blazer there is a chapter about battle animations, it will explain you there what size the image needs to be and some more information about the colours, battle scripts and I think that's it.

Oh, and if you don't have FEeditor advance you will definitly want to get that it makes a lot very easy.

just go to the Fire Emblem Shine page http://www.feshrine.netand look under hacking and then utilities.

Good luck, feel free to ask if you have a problem.
