@  Fire Blazer : (16 October 2018 - 03:50 AM) yoooo sup
@  acceptance : (04 October 2018 - 02:34 AM) TOV Definitive Edition has me pretty hyped up for the franchise right now.
@  acceptance : (04 October 2018 - 02:30 AM) Its been a while since I've been this excited to play a tales game lolol
@  acceptance : (04 October 2018 - 02:28 AM) I'm finally playing Tales of the Abyss on the PS2 and it reminds me of the first time I played symphonia. I'm loving this game!
@  xcrash1998 : (21 September 2018 - 05:46 PM) I like games that actually reward you for reaching more difficult objectives.
A good example would be the golden ballon in Super Mario Oddisey it more like a trophy and less like an in game side note of what you did.
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:13 AM) but like yeah I get more trophies/achievements in games that I just happened to play more bcuz the game itself was fun or w/e and it's like oh ok i also will get these things just through doing the stuff i wanted to do anyway, that's cool i guess lol
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:08 AM) like they don't rly hurt but they aren't something of particular value, it's kinda like a fancy alert with a title that tells u u did a thing, it's not bad but im not rly one to go out of my way to obtain the validation of a video game through something that can usually just be done via spending enough time/effort on it

(getting to like the top X% of a competitive multiplayer game or smth would be a diff story, but in that case i wouldn't even want an achievement, i feel like just getting there should feel rewarding in itself, so... yeah, lol)
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:07 AM) yeah I'm not a trophy/achievement guy lol
@  acceptance : (13 September 2018 - 10:35 PM) That's just not incentive enough for me, man.
@  acceptance : (13 September 2018 - 10:34 PM) Plus with modern gaming a lot of the time the most you can hope for if you get all the collectibles is a trophy/achievement. Which I suppose is valuable to some people, but it's not gonna add anything to the game whatsoever.
@  Fire Blazer : (12 September 2018 - 05:58 PM) like yeah sidequests with an actual crafted scenario to them, post-game dungeons that aren't TOO much grinding/rehashed content, etc. are cool
@  Fire Blazer : (12 September 2018 - 05:57 PM) yeah I only like completionist stuff if it's like meaningful content/not super grindy but usually at some point it becomes kind of annoying so meh
@  acceptance : (11 September 2018 - 01:01 AM) Gotta love unforgivingly difficult super bosses. (Looking at you, Lingering Will.)
@  acceptance : (11 September 2018 - 01:00 AM) I cannot do the whole collectible thing. It always feel so tedious. Sidequests and EX dungeons are always fun though.
@  xcrash1998 : (09 September 2018 - 06:56 AM) So thats perfect for me
@  xcrash1998 : (09 September 2018 - 06:55 AM) I am rather obsessed with completing on 100% unless it is completely unreasonable to do so
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:51 AM) if they ever make a sequel/spiritual successor or the like at the very least it should have my attention, haha

Hi,

Using FE7 here, working with Nightmare 1 and FEditor.

I've been trying to modify the Mani Katti to do 1 - 2 range, and pretty much act as a magic sword.

I thought it would be simple enough, change the range to 0x12 and then go to the spell association editor.

The weapon itself works fine; it has the 1-2 range and doesn't act weird at all. Just like a normal sword. But when I use it at 2 range, the animation kind of plays (lyn puts up her sword and it flashes, just like if using a real magic sword), but instead of an actual spell being cast, she just kind of puts the blade down again. This occurs twice if she's doubling. The sword flashes rapidly (like if I was critting) when dealing a finishing blow on an enemy.

I've tried to associate different spells to the sword, yet none of them work. I've also tried changing the weapon type to anima and the Weapon ability 'weapon' to magic, but they both just made Lyn unable to use the sword at all.

I'm using custom palette, if that matters at all?

Is the ''magic weapon'' just hard-coded into the game?

And if so, is there a way to make Lyn recieve a modified Light Brand instead of the Mani Katti at the end of Chapter 2?

Thanks!

To asign a spell to a weapon did you went to the spell association editor in the item folder ther is a drop down menu for which spell to asign, you can use anything.

and make sure to press enter and then ctrl + s before switching to another module

(what you described happened is when a character is useing a range 2 weapon without a spell animation. So just the animation playing but nothing happens, but the battle actualy happens like normal so back on the map the enemy will now have the reduced HP or dies if you did enough damage )

(actually if you gave the character a magic level he will always use his magic animation which can cause problems)

you need to enter 0x12 for the range to get range 1-2.

otherwise you don't need to change anything else.

If you want to change the weapon lyn gets at the end of chapter 2 you need to change the Mani Kattie itself in the item editor

(just use the slot of the many kattie and change everything up).

In case you want to change the text you will need FEditor.

for the weapon name the number and letters after the 0x is the slot you need to search for in the FEditor text editor

the same goes for the weapon description.

"The sword flashes rapidly (like if I was critting) when dealing a finishing blow on an enemy."

it probably IS critical'ing, haha, at least that's what it sounds like here XP
