I made some custom map sprites (walking),  and after I imported them with GBAGE, my standing sprites for every single character were distorted beyond recognition. Anybody know what I

did wrong? Thanks guys.

Need some more info, what guide did you follow, did you make sure that you inserted them correctly, was the palette correct, etc.

BTW, I take map requests if anyone wants to make one XD, just send me a PM and I'll most likely accept. If you wanna see some of previous work you can visit my gallery here, I'd skip to the end because I've improved alot XD.

I followed Blazer's ultimate tutorial guide, I used the hex pointers and inserted them into gbage to find the sprites, and then I customized them in Usenti, After I inserted them, my standing sprite mods were changed for some reason

hmm I think could you post some screens? That always helps. Also did you just change the standing sprites or the moving sprites too? and did the palette also fail or just the sprites?

Would inserting a new palette cause this problem? How do insert images in topic replies?

Upload them to an image site like imgur and use this button 794bc9f0cdac15f3a22c0e843c14ec80.png

You have to insert the direct link to the image, you should get it when you upload it. I don't know about the palette depends on what you mean by "the sprites are distorted". If you mean the colors are weird then maybe, if not then no.

Yeah you changed the palette somehow, hmm I'll link you to another tutorial, try following that and see if it works this time. When your hacking it's normally better to look for a tutorial about something specific if it doesn't work with what the UT says, try thinking of it (the UT) as more of a generalish tutorial about hacking instead of a "ALL THE ANSWERS ARE HERE". It's still better if you can find a tutorial just for that to be sure.

Link to the other tutorial: http://serenesforest...showtopic=24957

Also if you right click and select "Copy Image URL" you'll get this URL: http://i.imgur.com/oLFPz90.png?1(for this specific image obviously) which you can then use to insert the image.

That looks like a palette ordering problem. So when you insert map sprites with Gbage, scroll through the map sprites and go to the colour control editor in the windows dropdown. The top line of 16 colors for an allied game sprite (with the correct palette offset) should be ordered like this:

allypaletteexample_zpstd8bwrmy.png

However when you make custom map sprites in some other program, the palette order is usually not so neat and matched up (causing the problem where the colors are janky). So what you can do (or at least what I've done, there is probably some other better method) is open your custom sprite set in Usenti. Look to the right of the Usenti window where the RGB sliders are. Under it should be a mostly black box that shows all of the colors in your open image. If you're using only the allied map sprite palette given, it should have sixteen filling the top row (it may not show all the colors if you don't use every color in your sprite, but that's okay).

Now, go to "palette" in the dropdown and pick the "swap" option. The index for swapping color spots is 0-15 (left to right for the row of 16 colors). Swap around your colors by using index numbers so that they match the palette ordering shown before. To help, you can get the rgb values for each color by going into the gbage colour editor and clicking the top row of colors. Note that you CAN'T just use the sliders to change each spot because it will change the image as well, you have to swap the order as far as I've found. The exception to this is when you didn't use an avalailable color that the FE palette gives you (there should be a 0/0/0 RGB black space in the row of 16 for a color that wasn't used). You can (and should) just use the sliders to make it the right color in the index as shown by the allied unit palette. WELL THAT WAS LONG AND CONFUSING. I'm sorry XD. If you have questions, please ask and I'll post more pics. Also anyone way more competent at this stuff than me should totally say if there is a better way to fix the palette ordering.

OH YEAH, make sure you "Save As" your image in Usenti after you reorder the palette. I'd recommend saving it as a 4-bit type image, and uncheck the transparency checkbox when saving, I've had problems with other saved types before :/.

Sorry about conflicting with your logic here, but since you're using imgur, if you look to side of the image, you see a bunch of links.
