Yeah the exploring thing didn't strike me as very "Fire Emblem-like" which I guess is part of why the whole deal piqued my curiosity. I'm not against new things so long as they're good, haha.
Spin-off sounds about right. I don't mind spin-offs so long as they're like... treated as such, I guess. Like FE14 to me feels closer to a spin-off than an actual Fire Emblem game, just like how Persona is kind of a spin-off of SMT (though it originally carried the "SMT" title in it). And hey, I'm one of those older, die-hard FE fans! but I'd like to think I wouldn't be in the "a lot" so long as it was either clearly distinguished as a "spin-off" and not a main series game, or was done so well I didn't mind. I mean, I do like some of the new things being done in the new FEs even though it's very different, so I'm not going to deny them any merit just because I miss the simpler GBA-styled FE games, lol.
This is a sad truth with a LOT of games these days, I've noticed. Many of the smaller, lesser-known companies are now forced to stick to mobile and/or handhelds simply because console games these days take FAR too much money to produce. (I blame you, kids who complain about graphics not being realistic enough! Cartoony graphics can be just as pretty as HD!)
Aye, I gotcha. A lot of Japanese companies build games that are both on like PS3/PS4 and the Vita, meaning the Vita is kind of the "lower-end" and in a way this helps justify the poorer graphics on the console version because well, they're also making a Vita version, and for a Vita game the graphics look ok, lol. Of course there is the mobile fad too and for real great-looking games you have to put a lot into it, which is why you don't see Nintendo doing a lot of big HD Wii U games, they're generally things that aren't too heavy on the budget or the graphics (though Xenoblade X and Zelda U are more on that expensive AAA side, which is why I think the former took so long and the latter is taking so long). And for companies that DO try to make console-exclusive games they might just not reach that level of graphical fidelity and have to deal with the consequences of that because people will judge a game on its graphics to some extent, some way more than others, haha.
I would have definitely bought this one, I believe. Maybe they'll revive it at a later date? </wishful thinking>
I think so too, but hey, I'm pretty much the exception. Even when I'm not too interested in something FE, I still buy it, partially out of this weird sense of obligation that I've built for myself as the owner of a long-time FE site, haha. It's like "I've been an FE fan since I was in 4th grade, I can't let this new FE game pass me up"
though I did let FE11 pass me up for a while lol, didn't buy that until recently. but that's because it's Shadow Dragon. only a small fraction of FE fans are able to really enjoy that game. I wasn't one of them.
