Well the 3ds has been around for quite some time now, so I think it's safe to say we can make a top 10 list. Everyone nominate your favorites and let's get this thing started!

My nominations are Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Fire Emblem Awakening *shot*, bravely second, smash 4, Stella glow(I would place this over Awakening tbh), fantasy life, ocarina of time(does this count?), etrian Odyssey 2 Untold(also my nomination for best jrpg on the 3ds actually), Ace attorney dual destinies, shin megami tensei 4.

This is by no means in order, just my nominations. I would put mh4 at the top because of how much mileage I got out of it, and the really pretty good online multi-player(in most cases) with fantasy life being #10. The middle parts are a bit fuzzy though, a lot of them are super close.

 

Edit: there's gonna be a poll once we have a few submissions as to which games make the list, and after that i suppose a discussion should happen as to what order they place in. i'm looking forward to that part the most myself >.>

Virtue's Last Reward gets a nod from me.  Multiple nominations for game of the year and repeatedly showed up on top games for 2012 across all platforms.  Quite a rarity for a visual novel.

hmm, so many good 3DS games! I'll just nominate some of my favorites though:

 

Kid Icarus: Uprising - Great single-player and multi-player, just all around a fun game and great to see this series get revived.

 

I kinda wanted to nominate Smash 3DS, but the Wii U version is so much better, lol. I also can't get myself to nominate the Pokemon games as a casual, so someone else should.

 

Ace Attorney Dual Destinies for sure, I almost forgot that game was a thing since there's no physical version >_>;

 

I'd probably put Stella Glow up there if I actually played it and not just the demo, haha. Awakening, nah. And the only other RPG I've beaten is Project X Zone... hmm, that was pretty fun, but PXZ2 is better, but I haven't beaten that yet. ><

 

I guess I'll nominate Project X Zone for now.

EDIT: went through my list of completed games. Definitely add Azure Striker Gunvolt, one of the best digital titles for 3DS IMO. And I'd support a Pokemon Omega Ruby vote. Also, One Piece Unlimited Red (I think the 3DS version having the map and it being portable kinda make it better than the console versions, but to each their own--regardless, I'ma say it's one of the better 3DS games, funny enough. Biased because I'm a fan but yeah.)

I don't think I actually own 10 3DS games.

 

Since I would need to be in possession of more games to make a top 10, I'll just point out that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Rune Factory 4, and Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright are the standout ones. I would appreciate Smash 4 more if I was a competent fighting game player. Kingdom Hearts : Dream Drop Distance gets a plus for not having anything about it that made me feel it's inferior to the home console games on PS2, I guess.

i honestly forgot that was a thing, would probably make my personal list pretty easily if i had played it at all recently, but it was one of the games that i never reinstalled after having to format my 3ds...*eshop song starts playing* 

 

should remakes count for this list? because the couple n64 remakes are all very good games that aren't really 3ds games. i know i nominated OOT, but i thought about it some more when i woke up this morning, and i couldn't come to any kind of decision.

Definitely agree with Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies.

 

The crossover title with Layton was actually quite good, too.

 

Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds was pretty great, but then again, I always loved ALttP, so I might just be a bit biased.

 

If remakes/ports are allowed, Xenoblade Chronicles.

 

And I am sorry, but I have to nominate FEA. It almost ties with Sacred Stones as my favorite FE title. (Despite its obvious story flaws. Sometimes gameplay really does make the game.)

doesn't seem like there's gonna be any new submissions, so i guess it's time to get started(i think we have a fairly solid set of nominations anyway). gonna get the poll up as soon as i figure out how to do so =P 

 

Edit: don't think i missed any of the games, let me know if i did. please try to keep your votes to a maximum of 10 if you can. less is fine, more kinda defeats the purpose of the list, though i guess it won't hurt too much.

 

the 10 games with the most votes will be put in a second poll(after everything is decided), and you will only vote for one game that is your favorite from that list. then we just take the results from that vote and put them in order of how many votes they received(feel free to contest the results of that poll. will be good to have some open discussion about which one is best)

that aside, voted. Looks like AA, Smash, Xenoblade, and Awakening are at the top. Considering one of those is a port, one is very controversial, and one has a superior version on a different console, I'm not sure how I feel about it, but at the same time I wouldn't argue they're wrong or bad choices

Yeah this is kinda underwhelming...I'm not sure if it's worth making a list anymore...but it's best to eventually finish what you started, so I'll have the list in 20 years give or take a century or three.

Anyway the contenders for first place are smash and awakening,and for third we have dual destinies and xenoblade 3d. After that the votes are just too close together to make a list. Let's call it a top five instead and disregard any game that got less than 2 votes. I'm gonna have to give first place to smash Bros personally. It's much better than awakening imo. Which would put awakening in second by default. I'm not even sure how I want to defend that placement though tbh. It's just all around a better game. Most specifically it isn't held back by a weak story because it never bothered to have one in the first place.

I might take it over to FEEF for some extra input. But if I do we'll get more games in the list too if I do that. I don't think there'll be too much difference tbh, except maybe a few more rpgs on the list. It should basically end up the same otherwise though.
