SMTIV and FE13 Promotion

Considering SMTIV is pretty expensive that can be a bit of a relief towards DLC or your next game. This promotion is likely in support of the crossover game SMT x FE announced earlier.
Personally speaking I have SMTIV pre-ordered (it's coming out the 16th of this month, July) and already registered Awakening so I'm looking forward to a little extra cash to spend on the Awakening DLC I haven't picked up yet (especially since I'd like to pick up more DLC on my 2nd 3DS and this would help).

I also like that they are doing some advertising for this game.

I'll definitely be picking up the crossover game. I've never played a Shin Tensei game though, so wondering if I should play some of those before I get the crossover?

And SMTIV is amazing.
Serph playing another one of the SMT titles isn't necessary but it helps. This game I heard is more accessible than the other SMT titles. If you really want to try another game before this than I would recommend Persona 3 and 4 since they are pretty accessible but those games focus on character interaction more than the occult themes and darker story. But Persona is helpful to learn the spells since for the most part they share the same name in both games.
Also a tip for the series is grind A LOT. Otherwise you will get decimated.

I'm also picking up the crossover game (naturally) once it comes out and I get a WiiU and all, that's a LARGE part of my motivation for getting this game; aside from the fact that it's an RPG of a somewhat popular series and the day-1 edition stuff is tempting, I'd like to have at least a SMALL background in SMT, since I can't seem to get enough motivation to play the older games/figure out what the whole series is truly about.
@Cero nice, glad to hear it works/isn't a scam XD. I know I intend to spend it on Awakening DLC since I've yet to buy everything. XP
I picked up my copy this afternoon but I haven't even opened it yet, I might not even open it for a while just given how many other games are up my alley.
As for trying aNOTHER one idk if that was his point but if it was then yeah it might be better to start with some other games... but for me it's hard for me to play retro games or plain older games in general if I don't already like the series. I just can't get motivated because in general I think gaming now adays is simply better than old gaming so I need to already like the series to be able to look past stuff like poor graphics and such (or else I need to have played the game before it was outdated/retro/whatever). Not sure if this makes sense but in other words I'd like to get a good start with SMTIV and if I'm interested after I can go back and try some of the older games.
I hate grinding so that's a terrible first impression for me. I really look down upon grinding because it's like filler game time, it's just wasting my time. I want something that moves forward and is compelling. Unless the battle system is so awesome I WANT to start battles, I really don't want to grind, and in most games it isn't, most games have boring generic battles and only boss battles are all that fun. Grinding is one of the main reasons I have to switch up between RPG's a lot because a lot of RPGs require some level of training and some require the next level, grinding, i.e. going out of my way to get experience, money, etc... and it gets tiring and games where I can push through fast or there's no leveling up (like say FE8 or Super Mario Galaxy to name a couple of thousands of potential examples, the former of which can be beaten without much trouble without grinding, and the latter in which one simply progresses from level to level without there being much benefit in being a completionist [unlike Mega Man games] or defeating all the enemies [aside from getting coins/star bits for 1-ups]) are generally more enjoyable to play for longer periods of time/less draining at least.

Well anyhow I'll let you guys know once I do this, it ends August 31st but I sincerely doubt I'll wait much longer than August to open the game and register it and stuff...

@Blazer. Yeah I don't enjoy grinding that much as well. You have to enjoy the dungeon crawling aspect of the game for this game to be good. Basically from the beginning you need to grind a lot not only because the regular enemies are pretty tough but the games throws you a super though battle pretty early into the game. It is nice that game allows you to pay to not get a game over. The battle system is fun with it's demon negotiating and other stuff it is pretty fun.

As for SMTIV, I think I'll just play on easy mode, especially if the only real differences are like, buffed stats or something. In some games the AI is actually coded significantly differently for different difficulties but others it's just a matter of training or getting money for good weapons or items or something and that's not a whole ton of fun nor is that the kind of difficulty I'd ever brag about beating lol (I'd rather just beat the game quickly and have a mixture of challenge with good pacing).
