The arms really improve between the two portraits, by the way.
...Oh yes, and I've heard a lot about you and your skills. Which means that I already know you have some. XD

Starting from the top left corner of the reference compilation, this is another example of the 3-day growth/stubble from fe7x, although it isn't exactly like any of the stubble's beside it, it has a similar style to Fargus' in my mug. The middle image in the top row has far too defined stubble, Fargus' hair isn't dark enough to produce anything like that, and the image in the top right gives a far too sinister feel, the style of stubble I do is probably closest to Orson's, which is more refined and subtle, while it still conveys the effect wanted, overall while it may be more detailed, it is consistent within fe7x and gives a good aesthetic quality to the mug.
Regarding the chest hair, as you can see, chest hair shading isn't really consistent between other fire emblem mugs, mine is probably closes to the red/green examples except that it is thicker, and tufts out as I wanted him to be really quite masculine, fe7 Fargus' own chest hair style is probably my least favorite and is quite ugly to look at.
The headband uses the typical fe6/7 style of dithering and more shading to add a ratty/worn look to clothing/armor as you can see in the shirt and helmet displayed, his headband is just a bit more worn.

These are done on A4 pages in pencil, graphite and tinted graphite as well as coloured pencil for some of the brighter colours, my apologies for horrid scans
Going to get my mark back for them tommorrow, fingers crossed it'll be a good once, they're probably the best drawings in the class.
Also, minor fargus update:

The sketches are pretty good from what I see. It seems like your ability to shade hair has carried onto graphical art. lol
In general, you seem like a pretty good artist. Going to major in something artistic maybe? XP

I'm studying design at university
The sketches are quite different from my normal style, i usually draw more realistic and actually shade skin! haha, but this was based on Greek mythology, so i decided to have everything a lot more floaty, and as I had to do 26 of these, all 14 in size I thought i might keep it a bit more simple than what i usually do, they took about 10mins - half an hour each as opposed to my normal portrait sketches which take more like an hour+

The others are the ones I can't seem to find on my comp, though I'll probably re-scan them when I get my assignment back.

Yay for battle splice comp haha, this is for SF's battle splice comp
Quite proud of this, although the concept is quite lame and just a plain peg rip off haha

I don't really know what to say about Ishtar... not your best work, I don't think, but not bad... meh, I liked the previous hair better...
That battle splice is really cool, mainly because the pose is pretty original and isn't just the typical Pegasus pose with a different weapon or armor or something boring like that.
The SF splice comp portrait reminds me of Geitz... I mean he could go for Geitz' long-lost crazy brother or something. XD
I can see why Leanne wouldn't wow you. The colors are eh (just bland, not colorful/exciting) and without the wings it feels... empty, like something is missing, since that is a big part of Leanne. The portrait is good, the hair is FANTASTIC (like MAN it's crazy how you do that hair) but yeah, just doesn't wow, even if it's a good portrait.

Edit: minor tweak and fe8 palette too
Yeh I definately want to go through and fix up leanne more, sort out the colours a bit and work on the expression and clothing, i'm pretty much only proud of the hair atm, and I think that if i can get a face and body to be good I might get away without having to cramp wings into a hackbox (might make a version with huge wings that doesnt go for hackbox size though, iono)
*drum roll*
Sneak peak of a project that might take me a while haha, Yeti said this isn't allowed to be vaida's in game outfit which makes it fan service I guess haha but yeah, still cleaning up the linework and the generall shape and stuff, pose is based off some ivy art i found which i then sketched vaida into that pose, scanned it and tried to get line art from that scan I hope I do get around to finishing it eventually, (don't bother cncing the extension of her arm plates and back HAHA i know how bad they are and I'll get around to fixing them soon ) but yeh, mainly wanted to know if anyone thinks there are proportion issues or w/e, I think i got it pretty close to good proportions thought (may or may not make a normal version without panty shot) HAHA anyways... Vaida
2nd video up, round 19 splice contest entry(this one has fun upbeat music to splice to )
And just to compare, Finished product :D

try and not post so many odd pics tho...
also, the area where the hair of the geitz-resembling guy meets the scalp is, to be very vague and unhelpful, odd and bad-looking. like there's a dark line near the right side and it'd be so much better if that one strand of hair wasn't in his eye... lol I guess from far it's all good though.

Altogether, they're pretty good starts, but they definitely need more work.
