@  xcrash1998 : (21 September 2018 - 05:46 PM) I like games that actually reward you for reaching more difficult objectives.
A good example would be the golden ballon in Super Mario Oddisey it more like a trophy and less like an in game side note of what you did.
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:13 AM) but like yeah I get more trophies/achievements in games that I just happened to play more bcuz the game itself was fun or w/e and it's like oh ok i also will get these things just through doing the stuff i wanted to do anyway, that's cool i guess lol
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:08 AM) like they don't rly hurt but they aren't something of particular value, it's kinda like a fancy alert with a title that tells u u did a thing, it's not bad but im not rly one to go out of my way to obtain the validation of a video game through something that can usually just be done via spending enough time/effort on it

(getting to like the top X% of a competitive multiplayer game or smth would be a diff story, but in that case i wouldn't even want an achievement, i feel like just getting there should feel rewarding in itself, so... yeah, lol)
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:07 AM) yeah I'm not a trophy/achievement guy lol
@  acceptance : (13 September 2018 - 10:35 PM) That's just not incentive enough for me, man.
@  acceptance : (13 September 2018 - 10:34 PM) Plus with modern gaming a lot of the time the most you can hope for if you get all the collectibles is a trophy/achievement. Which I suppose is valuable to some people, but it's not gonna add anything to the game whatsoever.
@  Fire Blazer : (12 September 2018 - 05:58 PM) like yeah sidequests with an actual crafted scenario to them, post-game dungeons that aren't TOO much grinding/rehashed content, etc. are cool
@  Fire Blazer : (12 September 2018 - 05:57 PM) yeah I only like completionist stuff if it's like meaningful content/not super grindy but usually at some point it becomes kind of annoying so meh
@  acceptance : (11 September 2018 - 01:01 AM) Gotta love unforgivingly difficult super bosses. (Looking at you, Lingering Will.)
@  acceptance : (11 September 2018 - 01:00 AM) I cannot do the whole collectible thing. It always feel so tedious. Sidequests and EX dungeons are always fun though.
@  xcrash1998 : (09 September 2018 - 06:56 AM) So thats perfect for me
@  xcrash1998 : (09 September 2018 - 06:55 AM) I am rather obsessed with completing on 100% unless it is completely unreasonable to do so
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:51 AM) if they ever make a sequel/spiritual successor or the like at the very least it should have my attention, haha
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:50 AM) so yeah, great, great game overall, I even bought the expansion and played the heck out of that too because it was so much fun. Think I ended up almost 100%ing it (basically fully explored the map IIRC, not sure I did everything but at the very least I should have gotten pretty close).

and I'm not really a completionist either, so again... just speaks volumes about how fun the game was IMO.
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:48 AM) Awesome gameplay, sweet enemies, an overall interesting premise and plot along with some solid writing, even the soundtrack was decent for a Western game, lol... but of course, the VISUALS. whew. the game looks soooo good. couldn't help but take pictures even though I don't usually consider myself that kinda guy, lol. the environments and hyper-realistic look are just so visually appealing I was often kinda mesmerized, similar to how I felt with Xenoblade X.
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:46 AM) I'm surprised to have finally found some other people who have played and liked that game though. I was excited for Horizon: Zero Dawn and got it at launch and ended up basically binging it, IIRC even putting P5 on hold for a bit, because it was just so much fun.
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:46 AM) ouch @ potential april fools lol
@  Rujio : (02 September 2018 - 09:34 AM) Still an excellent game. One of the more interesting stories I've come across in a game, especially an open-world one, and some pretty solid characters and worldbuilding. The gameplay is fun and works really, really well in the setting, too.
@  Rujio : (02 September 2018 - 09:31 AM) Although that article is from April 1st and my google searches are not revealing any other evidence of a PC release...
@  Rujio : (02 September 2018 - 09:29 AM) Ah yes! I just played that game this past summer with my friends (who have a PS4) and it really was great! I'm really glad it's coming to PC so I can have it myself, and also because I've got some PS-less friends who would really enjoy it.

I wanted to play through the game again (since I only recently gained the power to do some cool stuff with powersaves, like MAKE MYSELF A FEMALE GRANDMASTER YESZ. Also because I wanted the Revelation final boss themes in my sound test and this is the only way to get them.) While I started a Hoshido file, I feel like I'm getting cheated out of units in it. So I figured, why not actually make Revelation enjoyable to me by writing a play journal about every fallacy ever in the story telling?

Disclaimer: Some of my comments may be opinionistic, biased or otherwise very debatable. This is mostly for show. I will admit that I actually do not have problems with everything I rant about. I'm just doing this for completionism. No stone left unturned or whatever.

Also because of wrist injury, progress in this might be slow. Typing hurts and one-handed typing sucks.

Chapter 6. WALL OF TEXT ALERT.

Spoiler

I have two more chapters written up but I think I'll stop here. This was pretty long for the internet.

I'm sorry, it's hard for me to focus when your character sounds like she has a pet nickname.

Spoiler

I believe in judgment of humans through their judgment of fiction, for nothing else tells better of their disposition freed from apprehension.

Chapter 7, whee. Wasn't much to snark/complain about, TBH. It's mostly exposition.

Major spoilerz for Birthright/Conquest be here, yo. Or...maybe only minor spoilers. Anyway, be warned.

Spoiler

More to come in the next chapter, but just wanted to get this done for completionist's sake.

Ugh. The quote feature can be quite glitchy sometimes. :/

Not sure how reading between the lines and bad writing correlate. Not when people hate being spoon-fed info and want to analyze all the things anyway.

It depends on the case. There's clever use of making the reader infer, and then there's...that. Which makes it sound like the avatar tried to defeat Anankos  and got her butt kicked. Or something.

It's funny because Hoshidans in one of the prologue chapters (I think it was 3?) were pretty okay with just shooing you away if you didn't provoke them.

Yeah, and that was when the avatar was CLEARLY with Nohr.

I vaguely remember cases of nobility and royalty declaring certain family members legally dead or something. At least it applies to illegitimate children anyway.

That makes sense, I guess. Doesn't quite seem to be what he's doing here, though...

it's funny cause in actual war you don't need to kill the enemy either. There are plenty of prisoners of war and even when there aren't if you can reach your objective and gain the advantage that's often enough for the day.

Yeeeeeeeah. Starvation tactics were usually used in sieges to make the enemy surrender. If you wanted to capture a country, you didn't really want to kill EVERYONE because SOMEBODY needed to be able to till the fields and whatever.

The avatar still carried that evil exploding sword of death courtesy of Garon, though they weren't particularly inclined toward criticizing her for that (besides Takumi) near the time it actually happened.

Yeah, true. Hence why I think she must have heard it from Takumi.

I was basically OK with ignoring all the problems the story presented me with. Right up until the avatar jumps off a cliff(yeah I'm not much further than that. I got bored and gave up). I don't want to read through this because spoilers, but is revelations any better about stupid stuff happening? I'm guessing probably not based on the fact that this thread exists, but it's worth asking.

"Stupid" in precisely what form? Give me examples from Birthright/Conquest and I'll give you an answer with as little spoilers as possible.

a seemingly incredibly loyal ninja changing sides on a whim for example, a prince trusting the king's adviser whom he just finished beating the shit out of after finding out that the advisor was sent to kill him, etc.

Ummm...shoot I was hoping you'd mention stupid and pointless deaths because that's a yes or no answer.

I'd say it's probably about the same. The amount doesn't change, but if you ask me, the level of stupidity was kicked up on most of 'em.

On topic:

I actually have not written anything about chapter 10 today because I completely burnt myself out with it last night due to HOW EXTREMELY LONG THE DANG ENDING SCENE IS AAAAUGH. I have all the text down and ready to be dissected, but the sheer length of it all overwhelmed me and I quit. I'll get to work on it tomorrow.

Luckily I still have chapter 9 ready.

Trial by combat must be all the rage over at the Wind Tribe.

I wanted to say something about Rinka, but I actually can't really remember anything at all about her except...maybe...her being one of the prisoners we didn't kill in like the second chapter.

So I pirated the special edition to try Rev (since I hacked my 3ds) and I'm a couple chapters into it. Fucking stupid plot aside this path is just kind of not fun, like at all. Probably gonna uninstall to save my sd card space lol.

Yeah, she is.

Yeeeeah... I mean, when the first three chapters have almost nobody join you (Gunter doesn't count because ANYONE in the know wouldn't use him, anyway.) it's pretty lame. Not to mention the chapters themselves tend to just...not be very fun. The only thing redeemable about chapter 10's gimmick was that every unit hidden under the ice had an item of some kind that they dropped. A good number of them had stat boosters. So...yeah. <<

Decided to just put the beginning of the chapter for now.

Spoiler

Will do the rest later. For now, I have church to go to.

Speculation: It's called the Seal of Flames instead because what they're really trying to do is keep the flame away with all the water imagery this game's got going for it.

Should have been Water Emblem Fates.

That just doesn't sound as cool lol. Although it does describe this game's story completely. *smacked*

You probably already know this because you're into bows, but "fire!" is supposed to be specific to the use of firearms and thus doesn't make sense to use as a verb for the release of projectiles in a world where they've never heard of even cannons before.

I knew this, but promptly forgot it while writing that because I got distracted with Zola pointing out the "joke."

I'd be upset too if the prologue chapters shared between all three games more or less tells you all you need to know about Garon being suspicious as hell even to the royal family. But you know how it is with people in abusive relationships...

I wasn't knocking it, but yeah... The fact that they're so infinitely blind to Garon's evilness is kind of exasperating. You make a good point with abusive relationships, though. Also probably doesn't help that he's the only dad they know... Wait. They mention in supports that he used to be a nice guy. Never mind that last part. >_>

Yeah, it was your fault for actually being tempted enough to buy this part of the game. Marketing campaign success!

Okay I actually laughed at that. XD

Off topic, but the quote feature seems to start failing after a certain number of quotes in a single post. Which is dumb but probably not something easily fixed from our side.
