Just post your poetry here. Comment if you wish.

My latest poem:

The Storm of War
By Nils

I hear people brandish their blades
Others have fallen and lie dead
More foes rush through the glade
While others have turned and fled
Men lose the gift of life
While families at home are wild with strife

Horrible is the storm of war
Whose gales stain the land with blood and gore
Musket balls fly through the air

Enemies stare with their icy glare
Cannons fire the Earth to the sky
While soldiers’ forefathers watch from on high

Horrible is the storm of war
Whose gales stain the land with blood and gore

The battle is over and the war is done
Foes march home tired and outdone
In the victors’ home there is happiness galore
Because they ended this bloody war

Ended has this storm of war
Whose gales have halted forevermore

The Canyon of Brass and Gold
By Nils

Over the peaks of brass and gold
A river carves the stone of old
The river snakes through the crags
Its waves flapping like a watery flag

The stream chisels at the mountains of rust
Sending great mountains crumbling into dust
Slowly do the mountains crumble
Without the slightest sound or tumble

Patiently does the river flow
Shaping the peaks of brass and gold
Sliding through the caverns and running over the top
The river brings down the mountains, drop by drop

Related to the events that occured in Rosewood Florida, from the 1920s. (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
This Wood, full of Hollow Roses

The prosperous town of Rosewood, was a wonderful place to be
Blacks lived with their rights, and all went as it should go today
And all was well in the wonderful town thankfully up until a degree
Where Fanny protected her image, and they rushed to her without delay

The citizens of Sumner did not care; they knew that Taylor told lies
The sheriff knew the truth, but did not try to stop the lynch mob
So they put on their white robes, and this is where liberty dies
They prepared to destroy a town that did nothing; they called it their job

This land called for a hero, a leader to lead the victims out of the terror
Aunt Sarah spoke the truth and was killed unjustly, who will save the young?
Sylvester stood up and granted time for the children to escape, he was that bearer
Mister Mann lead them through the swamp, cold, hungry, that the anguish sprung

John Wright saw the despair, he housed the injured blacks that were abused
He pledged to save them, and pleaded the train conductor to aid in the children's escape
Mr.Mann went to offer himself to stall for time while the children awaited the train confused
This is where the sheriff took his stand, and stated there was no Jessie Hunter that committed rape

The mob refused to believe, and a disorder erupted further, Mr.Mann escaped his hanging and fled
Back to the children awaiting the train, that Wright promised to send, and that train did arrive
They boarded the train and started to finally leave the never-ending despair that left so many dead
They had one more obstacle to overcome. Duke and his men shot with fury, could they survive?

Mr.Mann loaded his gun, and prepared for war. He defended the innocent from the fiends
He shot the terror out from risking the revival of hope for the kids and out from the ashes
Appeared Sylvester on Mann's horse. They all fled to Gainesville and it's freedom fields
And little Emmett stood up to his father, and left, years later to stand up and help remove the gashes

Caress of the Wind

The wind sings its caressing song
The grass sways and dances along
Airy currents whip through the sky
Caressing birds and beings from on high

Gales of wind roar through the Earth
Cooling the world’s great iron hearth
Petals fall off and fly away
The wind’s caresses lead mind’s astray

The wind heaves a gentle sigh
Caressing all it passes by
