FES Brawl Tournament
#1
Posted 09 June 2009 - 11:13 PM
With summer people are a lot less busy and we have more time to set things up. We can run the tournament through a couple of weeks where people will play each other.
-------------------
General rules:
* 3 Stock
* 8 minute timer
* Items are set to "off" and "none"
* All sets with the exception of winner's finals, loser's finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches (best of 5 and above should be played out for any "finals" matches)
* No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.
* If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.
* Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.
* If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.
* Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.
* No hacked version of Brawl used (if the game is hacked but it's capabilities are null it is fine).
* No vulgar taunts.
* Stalling is banned.
* There must be a 3rd person player in each match to watch what happens. This person will join the match and immediately suicide. This person is to act as a ghost in a way. Any action related with this player will cause either a restart of the match or a forfeit depending on the situation.
Stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs must end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling. Avoiding the other player to clock out the time is considered stalling. The 3rd person is responsible for deciding if a player is purposefully stalling and if they are doing it to an excessive amount. If stalling occurs the match is forfeited. The stalling rule does not affect sudden death.
Set format (In Order of Procedure):
1. Both players agree on the stage they will play on before the match.
2. One person hosts the match. The other 2 people join. Characters are selected and each player chooses the stage that was agreed upon before the match.
3. The match is played through (take note of the 3rd player and his/her purpose).
5. The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List
6. The winner of the previous match chooses their character
7. The loser of the previous match chooses their character
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches
9. The winner of the majority of the matches wins the set.
Stage Lists
Stages in the Starter/Counter and Counter/Banned list did not receive 2/3 majority, indicating no consensus could be reached on the stage.
The SBR Recommended rule list uses the stage striking system. In this system, players take turns striking stages from the starter list until only one remains; these stages are not banned and can be counterpicked later in the set. There must be an odd number of starter stages. There are up to 8 stages available for stages striking under the SBR stage list (4 in starter, 4 in starter/counter). We recommend as a TO that you decide on the ideal number of stages to use for striking at your tournaments (3, 5, 7).
Starter
Battlefield
Final Destination
Smashville
Yoshi's Island
Counter
Castle Siege
Halberd
Lylat Cruise
Pokémon Stadium 1
Brinstar
Frigate Orpheon
Pirate Ship
Pokémon Stadium 2
---------------------------------------------
That's the rules for you. I'll set up the brackets once we get 8 people to join (that's the # I'm looking for; if we can't get that many then oh well... I could get my 6 year old sister to join xD).
Contestants:
Fire Blazer (BLAZE)
Lelouch vi Britannia (DAN)
Mankut8397 (MANKT)
Shadow of Chaos (SHADW)
Seraphinox (IOSAC)
DH_Ninja (NINJA)
Format for brackets:
CODE |
Round 1 (#) X vs. Y (Z, N) --------------- # = # of matches in the round X = Player 1 Y = Player 2 Z = Player 3 (Observer) N = # of matches played in the set |
There is currently no date set, it depends on registrations, when people are available, etc., however the tourney is most likely to be in June.
Sign up, ask questions, etc., and once the brackets are up we'll start!

Weekdays: Probably not. My mom wants me "studying" on the weekdays instead of playing Wii.

If this goes well I'll make one with items where anybody can win so as long as you know how to use items xD
Here's my info, since I do need to post it:
Name: Blaze
Friend-Code: 0473-7705-4433
Country/Time-Zone: Eastern Time Zone (GMT-5)
Time you are often available: If I need to I can get up early and play and usually there is no fuss over that. I'm usually available at various times in the afternoon, it depends on the rest of the family and when they use the TV and the such, but I'm pretty flexible. Often times past 7:00 PM I will be busy though.

Country/Time-Zone: Pacific Time Zone (GMT -8)
Time you are often available: Pretty free most of summer... just PM me or catch me on the shoutbox... I will notify when I'm not available for an extended period of time... Times: 12PM - 12 AM ._.
Just to annoy you with extra info...
Taunts:
Up: What!? LMAO
Down: You MUST Recover!!!
Left: YESZ! Nice!
Right: ニニアンひめのためたたかうだけだ!!! (Nothing offensive, believe me... Think Ike's "I fight for my friends" only more specific... Btw, google translate fails at making this english...)
Btw, I'll be recording matches... that is if my nearly full hard drive can handle the DVD quality video ._.

5 people... I kinda wanna start the thing now xD Only with 5 people but w/e... By the way, make sure you edit your posts with all your friend codes (don't just leave them blank), most friend codes are in the FC topic anyway but... meh.
EDIT: DH said he would join (but only because I asked nicely LOL) but since he's busy having fun messing with Paint.net I'm signing him up for him.
Name: Ninja
Friend-Code: 0344-8958-1483
Country/Time-Zone: Eastern Time Zone (GMT-5)
Time you are often available: Various times, evenings
EDIT2: Dan's friend Mikey said he could join. He would use Dan's TV and Wii and stuff. He and Dan can't be observers for each other's games. xD
EDIT3: My sister joined so that makes 8 people. I've completed the match-ups so I'll be updating the 1st post with them real soon.

Are we allowed to do things like this to an Ike: |
Yes you are allowed to do that... LOL
IMHO that Ike's DI utterly SUCKS... and using side b for recovery when you're UNDER the stage doesn't really make any sense :/

So far Mikey has advanced in 2 matches and Seraphinox didn't. The next match is going to start.

I did ._.
Via replays...
It's uploading as I type this post ._.
Edit: And here it is...
@Mankut: Yeah, dude... that down smash at Lylat Cruise isn't gonna work... As much as you want to believe it's an instant kill tactic for Ike... err... no...

Over a year ago he 3'stocked me. His Zelda, Snake, and Ike are all good, and he has experience with plenty others... He's also been in tournaments... so he's around the level of Shadow at least, considering the finals will probably be Shadow vs. him we will see who is better. xD
EDIT: Waching DH vs. Mankut, in the tags you spelled "Camping" wrong, also add "Fire Emblem Shrine" to the tags if you can. You don't have to, but I would appreciate it anyway. And I seriously will repay you somehow for this.
EDIT2: Shadow the 2nd one doesn't work T_T
