@  Mage Girl : (17 February 2020 - 02:33 AM) I can safely say I'm so far the only person to post to this shoutbox in 2020...
@  Fire Blazer : (24 December 2019 - 03:17 AM) naw, it's when the bots make collaborated efforts to crawl places, lol
@  kirant : (23 December 2019 - 05:20 AM) What do we do on Index Day? Give each other bots?
@  Fire Blazer : (16 December 2019 - 01:39 AM) LOL
@  xcrash1998 : (30 November 2019 - 11:07 PM) New fictional holiday "Index Day"
@  Fire Blazer : (28 November 2019 - 08:52 PM) yeah just guest bots and stuff I think :( we really were active once upon a time though...
@  kirant : (26 November 2019 - 03:48 PM) No invasion. I imagine a lot of guest bots visiting for indexing purposes.
@  xcrash1998 : (26 November 2019 - 02:15 PM) How is most people online at 959 for the 8th of October of this year? Is that right? Did I miss something or was there somekind of spambot invasion?
@  xcrash1998 : (26 November 2019 - 02:06 PM) I know what you mean, it gets awkard to post something unrelated to the current conversation, and even if somebody picks up on it, it would just become a huge mess in the c hatbox if a multitude of groups talk about different topics.
@  Fire Blazer : (10 November 2019 - 11:45 PM) especially better imo if you want to update on a topic but like only occasionally (e.g. a project you're working on or a let's play of a game)
@  Fire Blazer : (10 November 2019 - 11:44 PM) it's hard for me to explain precisely why but forums just like work better for meaningful discussion over a longer period of time ig
@  Fire Blazer : (10 November 2019 - 11:44 PM) but that's def just not hte same ig, idk
@  Fire Blazer : (10 November 2019 - 11:44 PM) yeah, you can also kind of respond at your own pace on forums. Discord conversations are often like... it's awkward to respond to something that happened a while ago, especially if the server is active, but even just in general. since you sort of need to keep track of multiple conversations at once at times, and it's not like it has a good reply/quote system ala forums, closest thing really is to copy/paste or screenshot the text you're responding to and then type a response below
@  Elwood : (09 November 2019 - 11:29 AM) Adding on to what's been said, I just enjoy the order and structure of the forums. You can look through the threads and know exactly what people are talking about. Conversation get lost and buried on discord which is why I'm not a big fan of it.
@  kirant : (06 November 2019 - 05:31 AM) I enjoy that part of forums too. They become niche communities where you can have very specialized conversations as opposed to the cluttered mess in Discord.
@  Ezra : (31 October 2019 - 01:17 AM) Yeah, part of me wishes I could go back to the times forums were more prevalent. I really enjoyed how even several different forums based off the same franchise could feel so different. It's not like what we now is bad though, I just feel nostalgic for old times.
@  Fire Blazer : (30 October 2019 - 06:39 AM) also forums in general are just not as prevalent, there are so many other ways to interact these days, like Twitter, FB, Tumblr, etc., where you can just throw your thoughts into the void. I think that's the real issue and that the only people rly interested in forums these days are either super dedicated to whatever they're about, have a specific reason/need to (e.g. support forums), or grew up with them and are thus attached to the idea enough to continue to try and use them (this was kinda me for a while lol but things happen, I couldn't keep it up forever)
@  Fire Blazer : (30 October 2019 - 06:36 AM) I've posted on SF for various reasons ofc but in terms of like making friends and stuff it's p. much just been smaller groups/forums, yeah. mainly FES
@  Elwood : (27 October 2019 - 10:08 PM) Only reason I'm even on Serenes was because I had hacking questions. @Ezra yeah I figured it must be an age thing. I've been called an old man by many a child because I use Facebook.

^Haha, buy it just for the celebrations. 14 might be on sale at some point.

Been slow.

So:

1 Goal of the Month

USA win the U20 World Cup

Seraph and bblues win monthly awards.

Shu has another impressive cup game.

Seraph, the hope of a nation.

Out of the two things I know about this game, one is that if South America or Europe doesn't win, something's up. How unlikely is this, on a scale of "damn Yanks" to "WW3 declared on USA by rest of world"?

But is that % for shots -> goals? The % on this is just for shots on target ÷ shots taken. You might never actually score a goal even if you have 100% on target.

It's extremely unlikely right now. It's a growing sport in the USA, and if it ever breaks through properly, USA could be big players in the future. The Women's team are one of the best in the world right now (won the Olympics, 2nd in the last World Cup).

Anyways, long time, no update. Let's change that.

End of season - Premier League.
Amazingly close in the battle for CL places, unlike the relegation battle. Bobryk makes the bench for team of the year.

End of season in Portugal.
Hulk is an animal. Kirant wins defender of the year, and books his place in the team of the year.

End of season stats:
Kirant - Solid, although I do think he'd be a better CDM.
Seraph - Man, maybe you are the super sub. Great record for Ireland though.
bblues - Not worth the masses of cash most likely, despite playing every league game.
Bobryk - Not the same heights as last season, but probably the best player.
Blazer - I think he's the football equivalent of Taken 2
Fish - Unsurprisingly, the U19s league is shit.
Shu - I have no clue. Madrid should invest in loaning.

On to the Summer, and World Cup time!

Groups:
USA - Argentina are an irresistible attacking force. USA only brought Bobryk out of the four. Public outcry over no Fish is growing (lol, Altidore).
England - Tough group, Colombia for dark horses. Can Mancini's men make it?
Canada - France are by far the best here, and Canada could get results against the other two.
Ireland didn't qualify this time.

A brief bit of transfer rumours. Never give up, do they?

1st game results:
Argentina - USA: Not the best start. But it was a decent game. Altidore was terrible.
England - Colombia: bblues missed an open header (accurate to real life), Ashley Cole basically did this, and Falcao tapped it in. CLASSIC ENGLAND.
France - Canada: I did say they were the best in the group.

2nd game results:
USA - Scotland: Should be easy, right? Scotland are shit, right? A nice goal by Bobryk though, driven from outside the box (as per usual). USA have got to beat Japan, and either win big, or hope Scotland get demolished.
Russia - England: bblues proves to be instrumental in a key win, which sets up a must-win game against Mexico.
Canada - Belarus: A good win means Canada need only a draw against Senegal to qualify, barring a massive Belarus upset.

3rd game results:
USA - Japan: Get hyped. This is is it! Even the Japanese media think they've no chance!

Er. Japan went full Pearl Harbour to knock them out 3-1 and qualify themselves. Altidore accidentally takes out a small planet when he missed from 2ft.

England - Mexico: A boring prediction. The result was anything but. Back and forth it went, Hernandez and Lennon making the game seem more like FIFA. The 90m penalty actually went to England, Gerrard converting.

A small transfer break. Not again.

Senegal - Canada: In what promised to be a tight affair, Senegal managed to come out on top through an absolute screamer from Diakhate that was absolutely miles out. A late assault on goal from Canada, spurred by Kirant making some marauding runs on the left wing, just wasn't enough.

Another small break. Looks familiar, doesn't it?

Sitting on your arse, not managing really does make you known to the best in the world.

Back to the knockout round!
Italy - England: Italy go in as favourites, according to Italian papers. What a shock. It's with good reason though, as England are hammered.

Hopefully everyone does better come 2018.

Back to the usual, then.

The day we never thought would come. Permit cleared, but that was never in doubt.

Seraph, Shu, and Blazer all sign new deals.

Argentina beat Italy to win the World Cup.

PL starts back up again. Seraph is making an impact for once! Bobryk continues to get paid.

The definition I've been talking about is goals scored/shots taken.

Now to tell the coach to play Seraph all game...that's a pretty nice stat line for him. Not sure if there's any reason to not try him out as a starter for a little.

Soccer is pretty backwards stats-wise. If you had a goals scored to shots taken ratio, it'd be getting much closer to a 10% figure. The stats are around, it's just not in the places you'd like. Here's Chelsea as a team atm:

user posted image

The team average is just under 11%, with the worst having a rate of just 2% (poor Douggie Costa, he's one of my FM faves), although it'd be nice to get heat maps for it over the season, as opposed to manually checking over each game.

And here's Bobryk for the season so far:

user posted image

Having such a low percentage isn't a surprise from midfield though - bblues is at 3%, and you can see why at times:

user posted image

That goal is in the realms of ridiculous, and is going to miss most days if tried on a regular basis, hence the 3%.

Anyways, I'll try and bring up the more detailed stats screen for future seasons in addition to the regular one.

Ah. Hockey qualifies shooting percent as, in those definitions, (goals)/(shots on goal). So Bobryk's shooting % would be ~22% (8/36). Typical shooting % is 10-15% for forwards, 6% for defence. So, yeah.

Interesting that hell froze over/Seraph got lent when we started talking about this. We need to do that more biggrin.gif

EDIT - Holy crap. I didn't read Fish's stats properly the first time. Best goals/game ever.
