A good example would be the golden ballon in Super Mario Oddisey it more like a trophy and less like an in game side note of what you did.

(getting to like the top X% of a competitive multiplayer game or smth would be a diff story, but in that case i wouldn't even want an achievement, i feel like just getting there should feel rewarding in itself, so... yeah, lol)

@  acceptance : (13 September 2018 - 10:34 PM) Plus with modern gaming a lot of the time the most you can hope for if you get all the collectibles is a trophy/achievement. Which I suppose is valuable to some people, but it's not gonna add anything to the game whatsoever.

Think I ended up almost 100%ing it (basically fully explored the map IIRC, not sure I did everything but at the very least I should have gotten pretty close).

and I'm not really a completionist either, so again... just speaks volumes about how fun the game was IMO.
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:48 AM) Awesome gameplay, sweet enemies, an overall interesting premise and plot along with some solid writing, even the soundtrack was decent for a Western game, lol... but of course, the VISUALS. whew. the game looks soooo good. couldn't help but take pictures even though I don't usually consider myself that kinda guy, lol. the environments and hyper-realistic look are just so visually appealing I was often kinda mesmerized, similar to how I felt with Xenoblade X.

I was excited for Horizon: Zero Dawn and got it at launch and ended up basically binging it, IIRC even putting P5 on hold for a bit, because it was just so much fun.

So many years (3 years, wow it actually hasn't been that long) ago I made a topic about weapon forging in Fire Emblem. It's been a long time since then (not really), and a few games have come out (like 2 that even have forging). Thus, I felt like posting a similar topic (really not the same one at all) and seeing how things have changed. Here's how forging has looked over the years:

With all that out of the way, the discussion prompt: What game has your favorite forging system? What's your favorite weapon you've ever forged?

For me, Path of Radiance had the best system for one reason. In case it wasn't made very clear in the descriptions, that reason is COLORS. Due to that, I don't really have one weapon I've ever forged that stands out as my favorite. I would often make weapons specifically for units and then make them match the color. Like a red Throwing Axe I made for Kieran, or the golden Silver Axe (wait what) that made Titania destroy the endgame. There's a lot of great ways to forge and things that can be forged, so what are your favorites? 

 

 

also if someone could tell me how to put a name on a spoiler tag, I've been trying to figure it out for awhile but never wanted to ask. Thanks.

Why is PoR's your favorite when RD's is literally just better PoR's forging lol. My favorite is RD's because of the COLORand coins made forging a tad more exciting. COLORreally put life into your creations which I loved and allowed for you to see weapons in absurd COLORS. 

 

Shoutouts to SD's forging allowing you to create absurd broken weapons of amazingness. And shoutouts to Fates for having the worst forging ever.

To be honest it's because I have yet to play/beat RD. (I did play it, but it was a few chapters on Silence's copy of the game) so I didn't really know what the forging was like outside of what I saw Silence do. But, if it really is just PoR but better, sure, that's my favorite lol.

 

And shoutouts to Fates for having the worst forging ever.

 

I at least tried to be a little less direct by calling it convoluted.

I was going to comment that RD had colors too but someone beat me to it.

 

Colors is nice. Would be nice to have it again. I didn't play around much with PoR's forging system, though I do know that said system is what made me stop watching an LP. Let's just say, the LPer had dirty thoughts with that sword. >_>

Fates is by far the worst forging system(I mean at least they went all out and had the worst everything). RD is also my favorite btw. Most freedom.

I honestly never cared much for the forging in any FE game, as whether there are colors or not there's absurdly little customization in the end and ultimately I view anything that isn't indestructible as a disposable. I also just found it really silly how the colors applied to the blades rather than the hilts or handles...


I believe in judgment of humans through their judgment of fiction, for nothing else tells better of their disposition freed from apprehension.
