@  xcrash1998 : (21 September 2018 - 05:46 PM) I like games that actually reward you for reaching more difficult objectives.
A good example would be the golden ballon in Super Mario Oddisey it more like a trophy and less like an in game side note of what you did.
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:13 AM) but like yeah I get more trophies/achievements in games that I just happened to play more bcuz the game itself was fun or w/e and it's like oh ok i also will get these things just through doing the stuff i wanted to do anyway, that's cool i guess lol
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:08 AM) like they don't rly hurt but they aren't something of particular value, it's kinda like a fancy alert with a title that tells u u did a thing, it's not bad but im not rly one to go out of my way to obtain the validation of a video game through something that can usually just be done via spending enough time/effort on it

(getting to like the top X% of a competitive multiplayer game or smth would be a diff story, but in that case i wouldn't even want an achievement, i feel like just getting there should feel rewarding in itself, so... yeah, lol)
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:07 AM) yeah I'm not a trophy/achievement guy lol
@  acceptance : (13 September 2018 - 10:35 PM) That's just not incentive enough for me, man.
@  acceptance : (13 September 2018 - 10:34 PM) Plus with modern gaming a lot of the time the most you can hope for if you get all the collectibles is a trophy/achievement. Which I suppose is valuable to some people, but it's not gonna add anything to the game whatsoever.
@  Fire Blazer : (12 September 2018 - 05:58 PM) like yeah sidequests with an actual crafted scenario to them, post-game dungeons that aren't TOO much grinding/rehashed content, etc. are cool
@  Fire Blazer : (12 September 2018 - 05:57 PM) yeah I only like completionist stuff if it's like meaningful content/not super grindy but usually at some point it becomes kind of annoying so meh
@  acceptance : (11 September 2018 - 01:01 AM) Gotta love unforgivingly difficult super bosses. (Looking at you, Lingering Will.)
@  acceptance : (11 September 2018 - 01:00 AM) I cannot do the whole collectible thing. It always feel so tedious. Sidequests and EX dungeons are always fun though.
@  xcrash1998 : (09 September 2018 - 06:56 AM) So thats perfect for me
@  xcrash1998 : (09 September 2018 - 06:55 AM) I am rather obsessed with completing on 100% unless it is completely unreasonable to do so
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:51 AM) if they ever make a sequel/spiritual successor or the like at the very least it should have my attention, haha
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:50 AM) so yeah, great, great game overall, I even bought the expansion and played the heck out of that too because it was so much fun. Think I ended up almost 100%ing it (basically fully explored the map IIRC, not sure I did everything but at the very least I should have gotten pretty close).

and I'm not really a completionist either, so again... just speaks volumes about how fun the game was IMO.
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:48 AM) Awesome gameplay, sweet enemies, an overall interesting premise and plot along with some solid writing, even the soundtrack was decent for a Western game, lol... but of course, the VISUALS. whew. the game looks soooo good. couldn't help but take pictures even though I don't usually consider myself that kinda guy, lol. the environments and hyper-realistic look are just so visually appealing I was often kinda mesmerized, similar to how I felt with Xenoblade X.
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:46 AM) I'm surprised to have finally found some other people who have played and liked that game though. I was excited for Horizon: Zero Dawn and got it at launch and ended up basically binging it, IIRC even putting P5 on hold for a bit, because it was just so much fun.
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:46 AM) ouch @ potential april fools lol
@  Rujio : (02 September 2018 - 09:34 AM) Still an excellent game. One of the more interesting stories I've come across in a game, especially an open-world one, and some pretty solid characters and worldbuilding. The gameplay is fun and works really, really well in the setting, too.
@  Rujio : (02 September 2018 - 09:31 AM) Although that article is from April 1st and my google searches are not revealing any other evidence of a PC release...
@  Rujio : (02 September 2018 - 09:29 AM) Ah yes! I just played that game this past summer with my friends (who have a PS4) and it really was great! I'm really glad it's coming to PC so I can have it myself, and also because I've got some PS-less friends who would really enjoy it.

With just nightmare you'll be fairly limited. If you want to get started I would highly suggest looking at the "ultimate tutorial"(Google FE ultimate tutorial) that our good admin blazer wrote up.

What zac said, also, I'd suggest practicing on FE7, because it's simpler and has a lot more resources.

Yeah, if you've got limited interest in coding, I'd suggest sticking to a small scale product.  Nightmare's limitations are unit placement and the like.

I'd suggest trying something like a self-insert or a rebalance to get used to the program first.  Rebalances and unit change mods help out quite a bit in learning how Nightmare works and lets you understand the FE system a bit better (as this will let you gain some intuitive understanding of the key statistics in the game).  A first trail might be to do something like create a new series of weapons (ex - a series of Pike weapon (Iron, Steel, Silver Pike) for the Spear weapons which have improved mounted damage.  Then play a bit to see if what you did fits into the base FE game.

I like making magic weapons and making legendary weapons unbreakable. Editing shops to get some of the unused or almost-unused weapons is a fun thing to do as well.

I like actually being able to use legendary weapons too, but unbreakable might be a wee bit OP, hahaha

magic weapons are pretty rad tho and were a classic like "oh man that's cool!" kinda thing early on in hacking

warning: it's outdated, and mostly applies to FE7, cuz FE7 is easier and what most people hack and the only game I am (or was) super familiar with. some of it applies to FE6/FE8, sure, but you'll be figuring out a lot of things on your own if you choose to hack either of those games...

Probably, but I don't really care, tbh. By the time you get all the legendary weapons, anyway, it's the next-to-final-chapter and after that is Creature Campaign, and I could care less about being OP in creature campaign. :P It's not like there's a ton of legendary weapons that everyone can use, anyway. Sieglinde and Siegmund are Eirika and Ephraim exclusive, and there's only one of each of the other types of weapons.

That being said, I do reduce the Might of said weapons in an attempt to compensate.

Yea, I would start with FE7. I have a little experience in hacking and when I started I was told the same thing. Something about there not being enough resources prepared for FE8.

I'd agree; it is characteristic of the fire emblem series to have both their characters and weapons presented in a finite way. They wear down and if they die or break, that's it. Kind of makes them more precious. You could always create a duplicate item marker for the legendary weapon and make that one unbreakable for the creature campaign.

My logic for unbreakable legendary weapons is that they're legendary. Any normal weapon would have rusted out YEEEEEEEEEARS ago, whether it was used or not.

Actually, there are fairly old antiques of weapons and armors from fairly far back that are in excellent condition because of their storage, maintenance(sometimes) and lack of use. The ones that look utterly destroyed from rust tend to be because they were found in particularly terrible conditions, like iron in the river.

But yeah I consider breakable legendaries pretty stupid too. Especially since their uses usually aren't actually that high either when they can be broken.

you both make good points, haha. I think a fair solution is for them to just have a lot of uses, but having played RD I don't really mind some being unbreakable too. Just need to consider game balance and such.

Just need to consider game balance and such.

Which is why I reduce their might. May also mess with accuracy, weight or whatever, but mostly I just reduce their might. Although, post-game in FE8, might doesn't matter cuz you're hitting EVERYTHING super-effectively, anyway.

Yeah I would make sense if they made legendary weapons unlimited but they have to be use by certain characters. The main ones. Like they did in FE7 that would be a smart idea

FE7 had this horrible problem where using anything but iron weapons was a severe risk. I never actually USED the S-rank weapons in FE7 due to potential deaths. <_<

True. Some critical were ridiculously. Vaida with her Godly spear was also annoying.

True, but it's not liked the game ever told you to attack Vaida.  She was happy sitting on her corner all alone.

Plus, glitching the game meant YOU could have it all for yourself.

what is LTCer? Never saw that acronym before.

I never got said spear... Is there some sort of mine glitch that makes you able to do it?

It refers to the people who emphasize a low turn count for each playthrough to prove their strategic superiority.

Yes, you get it through the mine glitch, which is basically the same thing as the enemy control glitch in FE8 only you trigger it differently. (I found the latter more useful back when I was playing FE8 on my GBASP because there's no other way you're getting Myrrh to not run out of Dragonstone uses and thus becoming totally useless just leveling up.)
