Though the general formula was pretty much the Avatar being the main character that is always concerned for Chrom's well being because he was their savior... the Japanese version actually gives... SLIGHTLY more variety in the script changes depending on the personal pronoun that you use. Granted, that's not much, but it's better than nothing.

I liked pretty much everything after Walhart, but dammit Walhart's little arc was just boooring.

FE13's characters were just so bland in general. I mean, the playable characters tended to be amusing, but I never really cared about them. The villains were absolutely awful, though. Even the most important ones just felt like "that one guy I have to kill to get to the next chapter." It's a shame. This game has the worst villains, IMO, since the NES days (and FE11, since it's basically a port.)

I like how validar is so completely and obviously evil but that's all he really is he doesn't have a hidden agenda he doesn't even try to hide his evilness it's

I haven't finished the game yet, but I feel this is the case. The only standout villain for now is the fellow with the moustache. There's no real backstory or characterization for the villain.

"Oh, Evil dragon being thing told me to take over the world, I suppose I ave the time"

Needs more Nergal who was fleshed out extremely well as a Villain...

At least two of the villains have a backstory (vague and laconic but still) but this is, of course, never actually shown to you when it might matter.

I believe in judgment of humans through their judgment of fiction, for nothing else tells better of their disposition freed from apprehension.

the whole character bonding thing etc. would probably be a little more epic if the villains were equally epic

I mean I'm not a huge fan of the Nergal and the BK but Hector Mode Hector vs. Nergal and Ike vs. BK were relatively epic battles compared to beating up like Valizaar and Walmart c wut I did thar? /notfunny
