I was thinking of holding them mid-July or the beginning of August, but I want to know what other people think. Please postz even if it's just "I think August is good" or "we shouldn't have any awards" (although reasoning is welcomed too).

I'm all for it. I'd suggest late June actually. So we could possibly finish the awards by the end of August when the forum is still booming with activity rather than waiting for members to nominate/vote that are too busy with school.

Um... How can you people predict which of the two will be the most active period? My summer break lasts until the end of August (and unofficially starts near the end of June), so maybe that's different where you people live.
But due to my apparently huge summer break, either one seems fine to me.

Start during mid-July sounds the best, since it's almost guaranteed to have high activity and be during most people's summer break while not approaching the school year in late-August either.
Should we have nominations or not? Nominations seem a bit tedious, you know like people don't want to have to nominate people AND vote for them. Should we just let anyone be voted for or should I just pre-nominate anyone who stands a chance to win in a category? (I think the former would be better but could get messy too)

If we have a free-for-all on who we can vote for, we'll have tons of members with one or two votes, and the winner will have about four or five. I think prenomination would work better.

I'd say keep the nominations like they were last year. It can throw a surprise into the final vote that may change your vote. The free-for-all could work though, might be easier.
