Well, the feel of the character seems pretty much the same to me (and I have played TLP), so that much is actually a success. That said, I finished TLP a while ago so I might be just not remembering the details well either, just felt like saying that he isn't actually regal because someone else suggested that he should look that way.

@ snow - I'm really not sure what's considered canon in a game where you can virtually marry and male with any female...I tend to use the term 'ship' to make it clear that's the pairing I'd go with. Others might think Frederick x Other Chick is canon, who knows

Er, main problem with that is that i'm shading in pencil rather than using a computer program to do it. I guess it could work if I printed the image but I think that would look awkward too since the original lines aren't in pencil.

As for how I shade things, well, it's just using lighter strokes for the first shade, then overlapping them with shorter, stronger strokes with the pencil. I'm not sure what tools the computer program you're using has, but the concept should be the same if you're using a tablet except instead of the strength in strokes it's lighter or darker colored. (It should be the same. How it would actually be in practice, i'm not at all sure, seeing how I went all RAGEQUIT using a tablet in the past)

If you're using a mouse, you probably could still do the same, but it'd be much more of a pain. Personally I think that your pictures would look better using a different method of shading anyway, though. The sort of shading that you see being used in Fire Emblem 10 official art, which is something I unfortunately don't know the method for. (I can kind of guess what tools might be used for it, but that would be relevant to Photoshop which you don't use iirc)

And oh gosh, I'm experimenting with more a more "realistic" style
I think that if I can make this work, my FE pictures will look more dramatic...
Personally, I like both styles (the super clean, cel-shaded pics, but I also love the soft effect of lineless digital painting)

Gah, how'd I miss Ashe? I should be ASHEamed... I'm going to stop now. (Lack of the dark hood, probably, but that's just me being silly.) Honestly, though, that's a TREMENDOUS leap in terms of realism, so well done! While Ashe is still miles above my own artistic skill, leaving me impressed, Yune looks like a true professional studio-level piece! I'd pay money for something like that. if I had money or anything specific to commission for
