It really does and I am quite sad people don't see that as a reason for getting a Wii U. People don't see that there are good indie games such as Adventures of Pip and Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. There really is no excuse for not having a Wii U at this point.
no money, no interest in the game selection/not enough games to be interested in, no friends have it, not top-tier graphics, doesn't have GTA V/CoD/FIFA meaning it's not good for casual gamers that don't care about anything else, etc.
=P
I get what you're saying, and I agree that it has a fine selection of indie games (more than what you mentioned, even) but I do get why people don't get it, even if I wish they did, haha. it stinks, I wish there were more hardcore gamers who could appreciate more than just the big blockbusters and such...
- Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Wii U, August 8th
- Golden Sun the Lost Age, GBA/Virtual Console, August 17th
- Super Mario Bros. 2, NES to Virtual Console, August 18th
Ooh, awesome! More progress, eh. Captain Toad was great. Golden Sun I still haven't beaten even after all this time. I'm guessing you played it on the Wii U VC? I think I actually downloaded it myself too (can't remember), but I haven't had time to play it. SMB I'm not a huge fan of but it's cool you beat it (again, presumably).

So actually I didn't really realize until I checked just now but I apparently haven't updated this myself in a while. Honestly, I've hardly been beating games due to just not having enough time to play them (that and when I do have time, I sometimes get sidetracked by multiplayer games like Smash and Splatoon...) so yeah, it's pretty unfortunate, but here's what I've got:
Swords & Soldiers, Wii U, May 10th, 2015
Armillo, Wii U, May 10th, 2015
Child of Light, Wii U, May 11th, 2015
Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2, Wii U, May 12th, 2015
SteamWorld Dig, Wii U, May 13th, 2015
Bloodborne, PS4, June 19th, 2015
Fire Emblem if: Black Kingdom, July 3rd, 2015
Splatoon, Wii U, July 9th, 2015
Valkyrie Profile, August 6th, 2015
It looks like I've only beaten 31 games this year so far which for me is pretty disappointing, and school starts in like, less than 2 days, so it looks like I'm not going to have a ton of opportunities to work on that, haha. Anyhow, here's my brief comments for each game:
Swords & Soldiers - Decent indie game, a bit repetitive and often it's just like "hey, press the buttons as fast as you can to make as many units as you can". But worth the small price. It's an RTS/tower defense game of sorts I guess, you just have your 2D army moving left to right and facing another army, and you're trying to counter units and use special skills to advance and stuff, with some twists here and there.
Armillo - Another decent indie game, held back by some poor design choices, I think. The story and music are nothing to talk about (mediocre at best), and the graphics aren't great either, but the gameplay is solid. It's a 3D... game of sorts, yeah that doesn't help, it's kind of a platformer but the platforming elements are limited. Pretty much, you roll around as an armadillo or something and crash into stuff, and there are different planets (kinda like Super Mario Galaxy), and yeah, it's a decent game, but I could only recommend it to people who like things like 3D platformers.
Child of Light - A solid RPG with some pretty good music and some great art, though sometimes it kind of felt... lacking anyway. I can't really explain it, but despite having plenty to do and such, it was only ever a good game. It didn't give you a lot of time to use characters and the party only being 2 characters was a little odd for me, though it was fun too, so eh. Overall, it's probably one of Ubisoft's better games, and it's not a bad game to try out--it was fun--but it's still not spectacular, IMO. Also, rhymes. Lots and lots of rhymes.
Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 - I mostly just played this to experience a 3D Pac-Man game and get myself more familiar with the series. It's... mediocre, really. A decent 3D platformer that doesn't really do anything that special or have any great sequences, for the most part. Kind of repetitive with some weird gimmicks that don't feel too rewarding. Getting lives is super easy and it's kind of silly, lol. Overall, it just fails to do anything great and doesn't execute spectacularly so I can't really recommend it unless you're seriously craving some 3D platforming or you're a Pac-Man fan.
SteamWorld Dig - A 2D game where you're like... a robot or something, and you dig. A lot. It's super repetitive but somehow kind of rewarding. The game was longer and more tedious than I thought and I sometimes got frustrated by the amount of exploration I had to do (ironically, part of it is that I don't like leaving areas unexplored, haha), but that's kind of the point of the game, so I can't really call that a legitimate criticism. So that being said, I think it's a good game for its audience and it has some cool 2D platforming elements, but overall it's a pretty basic indie game and not an impressive game in general, just kind of well-done.
Bloodborne - Way more fun than Souls, but still lacking somehow. Wish I could've got co-op with Snow working. A darker-toned action RPG with minimal story and some questionable game design choices. Somehow, despite being niche in design, it still attracts people, maybe just because it's dark and edgy and "hard" (it wasn't that hard, the few times it was hard it was just me being a noob or underleveled or something, there were only like 3 actually hard bosses and most games I know have that, so meh). Anyway, it was fun but I don't think I'll play another game like it.
Fire Emblem if: Black Kingdom - I wrote a review for this, so... feel free to see that. Actually, I think I gave the game a 7.4 before, but now I'd give it a 7.8. But parts of it still sucked, especially in the story and with some of the gimmicks, so i can't say it's a great game or that I could easily recommend it to people. I'd even hesitate to recommend it to RPG or strategy RPG fans, so yeah. Still, not a terrible game.
Splatoon - A great game, super innovative, super fresh, great multiplayer, great single-player (I didn't find it too short, I found it to be great), great music... I think maybe it's still being polished slightly and a bunch of content was added after launch so that helped things, but now I'd say it's a near masterpiece of a game (ALMOST there, but not quite), like a 9/10, so unless you absolutely hate the concept of shooting people, I'd say give it a try if you have a Wii U, it's pretty fun. Especially with friends.
Valkyrie Profile - Another great game, though it's an old/classic JRPG. So yeah, there can be some difficulty spikes, unexplained features, odd or just bad voice acting, and some other stuff... but overall it's a highly innovative game with great music and great, deep gameplay and a solid story that you really can't find nowadays, what with it not having tons of blatant fan service designs and young teenage main characters being edgy or bland or whatever--it's dark, it's compelling, it's deep, and it's full of secret stuff. It's far from perfect, but a lot of it is kind of what I miss in games nowadays, haha.
That's it for now, gtg, let me know if you have any questions or anything since I like talking about games
