Prologue will be re-taped due to little storyline changes I have made.
Glad to be making progress, and a demo will be here once chapter 3 is finished.

I don't have much of an idea of what map problem could be, sorry (and this is probably a too-late response but w/e)

and yes, I am glad you are making progress too, because most people just stop making progress after a while, and it sucks. XD

Yeah, a little late on it, the issue was something with the hex I believe. I just re-entered the map into the game and it worked.

It really feels amazing to finish something. Gotta love that sense of accomplishment.

Morph tactician eh? XD

MAN that Knight is slow, and the Sellsword class is interesting, oh, and that castle thing doesn't have proper tile shading (the floor tiles beneath and to the right of walls should be shaded using the appropriate tiles).

Morph Tactician because he is supposed to be "unknown".

Yes, the Knight is slow, but should have good SPD growths, and has insane DEF. He actually is going to play a big part in the game......but that's all I will say for now.

Sellsword class is quite cool. It is a female mercenary standing sprite(hence the difference), but basically will play the role of an evil Mercenary. I'm also looking to create a custom animation for Scott eventually, along with one for Sean.

As for the floor tiles......meh lol. I will do it before the demo is released, which we are so close to finishing.....SO close.

The maps looking weird and the characters looking too generic, but they're getting better and i'm sure it will come with time

But i really like this game it had good ideas and a interesting story

Maps will be fixed as the game progresses most definitely. I do need to fix the prison chapter(Chapter 2), with some tiling issues Blazer already pointed out.

The only thing I'm having trouble with is getting my characters to look less generic. What specifically is bad with them?

I tell you some examples:

Scott: Just a recolored attire from Raven

Sean: A bad recolored armor from Glen

Tactican: Recolored Denning

Martin: A mix between Percival and Harken

Alexander: Generic FE6 Soldier with a villagers head

You should cut from some FE mugs the faces, costumes and hairs out and then experiment with them. Earlier i just needed a few minutes for a sprite but now i know that a good sprite need almost a half day work

Good, glad I'm making progress. He took a while to make.

And I am going to remake/re-vamp most of my characters today.

EDIT: Tried re-doing Scott & Sean, came out alright. Could be better...

Mouth frames still look rather unnatural. I'd reference the other mugs that are already in FE7 if I were you.

Your mugs have no half closed eyes, which are easier to make than they sound, really! Just do some erasing and shading, and applying the eyelids, really not too hard, even for a failure of an artist like me.

Sean and Alexander's eye's fully closed are a lot closer to what they should be than what you originally had. Keep making positive.

Your necks... are... *dies*

Sean's head is just too small for that big armor, but if you want to keep the head, then shift that and the neck to the left slightly.

What you should do is imagine they AREN'T wearing armor or collars and then imagine what their neck would look like, since in many portraits, the neck can't actually be seen.

For the first portrait in your recent post, the neck should kind of merge into the shoulders, which it doesn't, because his left shoulder (our POV), is kinda messed up (once again, imagine he isn't wearing armor--is that a natural shoulder? D=).

and this one, it's a good portrait, but it's a JPEG, which is bad (always save your files as PNG's, because BMP's are huge and image hosts will always convert them to JPEG's and mess up the quality in the process). The chibi could use some work too (I could try and help but I need a proper main portrait--then you can kinda see what I did that wasn't done in your current chibi and learn from that).

yeah, although his isn't perfect, it's decent, as you said

I know getting so much critique isn't easy and it takes a mature person but it'll be worth it.... if the portraits don't stick out like a sore thumb then we'll be able to focus on the awesome plot and gameplay and such.

Scott, I re-did. He doesn't look like a giraffe...tongue.gif lol. Sean is next. The cleric Sandra I did last night, just didn't post her. I think she looks pretty good as well.

After a little bit, I will show you the characters/bosses for the first 3 chapters.
