Spoiler

I lol'd. Hopefully those will grow back.

ahahaha... got me there

I don't think cells "grow back" per se, but hopefully

Monster Hunter generations offline story mode(does it count though?): 7/25 I'll never get to say it's complete, so I'll just go with this for now. ~25 hours in, and I've not even hit HR yet, so things are looking good so far.

Edit: by "looking good" i mean there are elder dragons in low rank. it's pretty freaking great.

yes it counts, completing a game just means beating the main 1-player mode or whatever, usually. figured you'd know this by now Zac bud :P

How am I supposed to fill this?

July 25 -- Zero Time Dilemma -- Vita

...So...um...that's either the best or second best game I've played.  Flat out.  One plot twist feels absolutely forced given the length that you'd have to rewrite the rest of the conversation around hiding it but aside from that, excellent writing, fun puzzles, terrific music, and about all the fun you can expect out of a game which uses the Monty Hall puzzle, the Anthropic Principle, and more fun theories as simple commentary.

Oh, and they reference Back to the Future without ever saying its name.

however you like :P I do prefer the aesthetic of my own format, which is, for example:

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, PSP, January 7th, 2016

or

Game Title, System, Full Date

But it's whatevz at this point :P

Anyway congrats on beating the game. Sounds awesome and also sounds like I won't be able to appreciate it nearly as much as you given that I'm not familiar with all those name drops and such, but that's okay with me. XD

It has been too long since I was last on here. Well as it goes I have been beating games but this will be the Fire Emblem edition despite one of the games being a crossover. Anyway here we go.

- Fire Emblem Fates Birthright/3DS/Sometime in February

- Fire Emblem Fates Revelations/3DS/Sometime in March

- Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE/WiiU/August 4th

- It is obvious that the path I took is Birthright since that is the physical copy I got. To be honest Birthright is really awesome and I really enjoyed it. The story is awesome and the characters are great as well. I had a lot of fun with this game.

- I went and skipped Conquest because that game is fucking hard as shit and decided to finish Revelations. I have played most of Conquest first so I know what to expect. It is the same as Birthright but it also includes the playable characters from Conquest which is pretty obvious since this is the neutral route. I enjoyed it a lot as well as enjoyed the story.

- Tokyo Mirage Sessions... Man the game for the west got a lot of flack but damn is it a good game. Just to as expected from an Atlus game it is hard but the first two bosses are easy. After that you have to pick a team and hope you don't get your ass handed by the boss of the dungeon which would likely happen. In this game you don't fight a boss and hope you win. You fight the boss for the first time and get your ass handed, the second time it is easy. The game also has a bunch of references from the Shin Megami Tensei series as well as a bunch of Fire Emblem references but from Awakening and Fire Emblem 1/11. I highly recommend this game for those who haven't played it yet. I won't say what the story is since it would spoil the final boss.

Yo, nice to see you~

"The story is awesome", ughhh, my trigger words. Fates has what is probably my least favorite story of all time, lol

Glad to hear you liked TMS#FE, haha. I didn't find it that difficult but I played on normal mode and I've played a bunch of JRPGs, so those probably helped. I wouldn't say it's easy though, it IS an ATLUS game and it can punish you hard for mistakes, haha.

Seems like we will always be the opposite when it comes to liking something of some story. That is probably the best thing about knowing you man.

It is good to be back.

*patpat* To be fair, Birthright was much better than Revelation. Now, if they had said that Revelation's story was awesome, those would be MY trigger words, haha.

Bahahahaha, I guess so. As long as we don't hack away at each other with out internet battle axes it's all good, lol.

I'd give Birthright maybe a 5/10, Conquest a 4/10, and Revelation(s?) a 2-3/10,, so they're all failing for me... just different levels of failing. lol. Having trigger words is kind of sad in a way, "it's just a game" as people say, but when you become so attached to a series over so many years you can't help but have strong feelings about it, for better or worse, I guess. No one's perfect after all that they can overlook everything that bothers them. XP

Hey as long as the games are fun to play that is all good. Speaking of fun games to play I went back to a couple of games so here we go.

- Super Mario 3D World/Wii U/August 26th

- Fast Racing Neo/Wii U/ August 26th

I honestly love Super Mario 3D World. It is actually one of the games I beaten before owning the game nor a Wii U at the time thanks to a friend. It is one of the games I was wanting to play for a long time before actually being able to get it. I have beaten its main story as well as the harder stages and Champions Road but for this run I only beaten the game normally. I absolutely love this game. It is possibly the best game to play with friends.

Fast Racing Neo... Man I love this game but it can also be pretty hard. I have beaten this game before but after hearing about the DLC coming for the game I decided to come back to it and try to beat the other leagues. There are three leagues. There is Subsonic which is the slowest speed, Supersonic which is the medium speed but it can be pretty hard if you are not used to the speed, and then there is Hypersonic which is the fastest speed and man it is fast. I managed to beat the game on both Supersonic and Hypersonic so the only thing I have left to do is Hero mode which is just F-Zero so you can die and only have one chance which also keeps track how many attempts you've made. The multiplayer is also pretty good as well. As for online play I have not been able to try it since none of my friends own it and I prefer to play with friends. I highly recommend this game if you are looking for a good futuristic racing game or an F-Zero fan.

9/12/16: Zero Escape: Virtues Last Reward
Wow that's a good game. I say a lot that writing is one of the most important parts of a game, and damn did this one get it done right. Most plot twists were pretty expected, but that last one was just...wow. Actually no way to see that coming.

both great games IMO

beat all the leagues for FRN but not really interested in the Hero mode or whatever

for me the experience was rather different from F-Zero but it did manage to scratch the general futuristic-racer itch so I enjoyed it and I'll probably tackle the new DLC eventually (even if I'm sad the physical release is Europe-exclusive or whatever >_>')

I can understand why you aren't interested in Hero mode. It is really not much different from the main game.

Anyway I have went through two more games with a friend of mine since he came up with this idea.

- Sonic 3/Genesis, Game Cube, PS2, ect.../ September 13th

- Sonic and Knuckles/Genesis, Game Cube, PS2, ect.../ September 13th

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is probably one of my most favourite 2D Sonic games of all time along with Sonic and Knuckles which is the continuation of Sonic 3. Anyway I played this game along with my friend which we recorded the run and had a lot of fun with it. Our first run we only managed to get six Chaos Emeralds but after that run I played it again alone this time and got the last emerald.

Sonic and Knuckles just like I said is a continuation of Sonic 3 but able to play as Knuckles. We played as Sonic and blazed through that quite quickly and started our second run as Knuckles but we couldn't get too far since my friend had to go. It was just as much fun as Sonic 3 which makes me glad Sonic 3 and Knuckles is a thing. Sonic 3 and Knuckles is probably the better version but it was not released on many platforms sadly.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst (PSVita), 9/17/2016 (GE2 Storyline Only)

I want to say that for a hunting game, this had a rather good story. It's basically a JRPG-style summer blockbuster equivalent or something. Except for some ridiculous reason the vast majority of missions actually have nothing whatsoever to do with the plot. Which would be relatively okay if it wasn't so redundant about it...

Speaking in Monster Hunter terms, I was essentially made to fight like a dozen Volvidon, Rathalos, Daimyo Hermitaur and Gobul equivalents every single HR. Each HR advanced gave you like 2 new enemies to actually fight (once or twice, usually once...) and the rest was filler'd with the aforementioned equivalents. Literally the penultimate mission to the storyline randomly throws a Gobul and Daimyo Hermitaur quest at you because who knows right after you take down the Gogmazios equivalent, who you also had no real reason to fight given it makes no sense what stage you're fighting on but at least that was actually interesting.

Then comes the game after the storyline is beat and BAM! Suddenly most quests actually have interesting enemies! (Well okay the usual filler is still around but they show up alongside more imposing kinds.) Why couldn't these guys have shown up earlier? It's not like they're trying to make the missions actually relevant to what you're supposed to be doing most of the time anyway.

This game just really sucks at keeping you hyped throughout because of all this recurring filler containing the most boring and early enemies in the game. Sure I get excited over when I actually get to fight something new, but the narration in the actually story relevant fights sure isn't aligned with the hype.

tbh despite having played a number of Sonic games I don't think I've beaten either of those, by continuation you mean new levels but the same story right? I'm not even that familiar with the games idk most of the Sonic games I played were 3D except I played 1/2/4... so basically just not 3 for some reason I like don't know crap about those LOL

^as for GE2 stinks that it seems to have so many problems, I kinda like some of the character designs and I do like action games but there are too many things that annoy me about the game so bleghhh, I don't like MH either, seems like these games just don't pan out for me (though I've yet to try Freedom Wars despite having it... >_>')

the low-quality graphics and the name (I don't like religious stuff in my game so it bothers me that it not only has some such aspects but advertises it so blatantly by using the word "God" in the title, I also didn't buy SO5 due to it apparently having some religious themes and one of the characters having crosses on her design, it's something that annoys me greatly. please don't try to debate this with me, if you don't get it, it's fine, but I will get pissed if you can't even respect my decision to buy/not buy stuff based on my own criteria and ideals, regardless of whether that "logic" makes sense to you [I don't expect it to, religious people work very differently, but I'm also not harassing the devs or anyone who plays the game for their choice to make it/name it/play it/whatever, so I don't see why it should matter what I do])

There is almost no religion at all in the game actually. No one worships anything. Not even a trace of HUMANITY FUCK YEAH in there(even though there kind of was in the anime, maybe it's a GE1 thing idk), they're too busy doing more important things like...

lfodKIX.jpg

u135GM2.jpg

I guess there is a cross clip you can select as an accessory from character creation with angel wings coming out of it and one of the enemies drops "Goddess" items even though they are an entirely unremarkable early boss nobody really even mentions in cutscenes. There is some mystical stuff going on but that's attributed to what the planet wants over any kind of individual entity, and there's actually a psuedoscientific explanation for all these new organisms you have to fight that they happen to call Aragami (from the characters "violent" and "god") because reasons.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice. 3DS. 9/22

Since these games are 90% plot, I'm not going to go into details about what I think about things. Just going to post my feelings while playing it.

I have to say that the Kura'in trials really ticked me off and for all the wrong reasons, but I suppose that was intentional on the devs' part.

...I hope.

Case 2 and the latter half of 5 had me angry for all the right reasons. I thoroughly enjoyed the game during Case 4 and the earlier part of Case 5, before getting sent on the emotional rollercoaster that is every Ace Attorney game's final case, ever.

How I felt about the ending:

God Eater 2: Rage Burst (PSVita), 10/3/2016 (Full Storyline)

The second half was a whole lot better gameplay-wise than the first even though it kind of stopped caring about making narrative sense in the other direction by throwing a lot more particularly impressive enemies at you with no real build up at all. "Oh, HQ is coming. Gosh, I heard they were assholes. What's that? We gonna fight the first game's final boss counterpart in the following mission? Alright I got it, let me just take a minute to do my hair. So like, HQ though..." It still threw some early enemies here and there but it mixed it up a lot more and made those missions feel more like warm-ups or a tell-tale sign that you should take a break for now and come back to it later.

It builds on the first part (since this is an extension of the original) very naturally like the original was 12 episodes out of a 24 episode anime. I don't think I've ever noticed foreshadowing as well as I had this game on the first playthrough, a lot of the time those only come on a rewatch. Which I'd say is fairly important because no one would want to do an NG+ of this with how you can't even use your OP gear to plow through everything from the beginning... (basically equipment has level requirements to actually use and you have to start at level 1, not your character but the difficulty level.) I'll probably talk more about this game sometime later through a comparison with Monster Hunter and the points it has going for it that made me find the experience a lot more memorable and comforting overall.

The contrast with the anime is so crazy though. This game has so much silly packed into it that you can barely see what's so bad about living in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by potentially insurmountable superbeasts that can spawn out of thin air bringing all civilization they can get their hands on to ruin. Lindow losing his box of beer is probably more serious business than how you and your friends are (allegedly...I mean you can respawn...) risking your lives out there everyday fighting back the horde.

I have been in such a Zelda mood so prepare for a lot of Zelda.

- The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword/Wii/September

- The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time/N64, Game Cube, 3DS, Virtual Console/September

- The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD/Game Cube, Wii U/October

I have beaten Skyward Sword back when it was new and did not care that much for it as and the story was hard to follow but after going through it a second time I was able to follow the story quite easily and realize how awesome the story is so playing it a second time made me enjoy it more than the first.

I already had started a playthrough but for some reason I stopped at the water temple so I had to figure out where to go and what I needed to do. After doing that I beaten it a second time enjoying it as much as I did back when it was new on the N64. I enjoyed exploring as well as the story.

Now Wind Waker was a game I never beaten until now. Every time I played the game on the game cube I would always stop at finding the triforce pieces for some reason. Now playing the HD remake I had a much better time getting the triforce pieces no problem now that I understand how to get said pieces. After that I was able to get through the rest of the game no problem. I really enjoy this game and spent a lot of time exploring the great sea. Just so everyone knows who doesn't know the HD Remake is not as much of a hassle getting the triforce pieces than in the original so it was much easier to get them.

It has been quite awhile since I last posted my progress of beating games so this will be a bigger list than usual.

- The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD/Wii U/October 7th

- Freedom Planet/Wii U, Steam/October 10th

-  Kirby 64 the Crystal Shards/N64, Virtual Console/October 21th

To be honest I don't care much for Twilight Princess that much but I like it enough to play it so I don't really have much to say about it. It is good but I don't think it is that good to deserve an HD remake.

Oh man I love Freedom Planet. It is honestly one of the best indie games I played. It is a lot of fun to play so I definitely recommend this if you want to play a platformer on the Wii U or PC.

Kirby 64 is pretty good in my opinion. I stays true to what it wants to be while mixing (no pun intended) things up with the powers. You can combine two of the same or different powers to get a new power and that is what I love about the game. It is a lot of fun with Waddle Dee, that kid who is a painter (don't know his name), and King Dedede that help Kirby along the way.

Oh man I wanted to play this game for the longest time even though it is a remake. Mega Man Maverick Hunter X is as much fun as I thought it was. I love that it is a remake to Mega Man X and how almost everything is untouched. The only problem I have is that the armour upgrades have been moved but at the same time the good thing is the armour upgrades are still in the same stages despite being moved around. I didn't mind the Sigma stages being different so it was a lot of fun playing those. The cutscenes made the game a lot of fun to go through as well. The voice acting is great and it shows how much X goes through after what happens to Zero which I will not say.

Halo Reach is an FPS I have been wanting to play and I am glad I was not let down. The story is great but the only problem I have with most FPS games is that you don't see the face of who you play as. Metroid Prime never had this problem since you find out what the character looks like at the end but this is a problem I can ignore since I enjoyed this game as much as I did with Halo 3 ODST.

Speaking of Halo 3 I have not enjoyed it as much as I wanted to. It felt rather boring and annoying. I hated when flashbacks of Cortana would appear so often and when the flood would speak in Master Chief's head just as often. I did not enjoy the game but I did enjoy the escape portion of the final stage.

Super Smash Bros. is a fighting game... That's it. That's the game. Nothing you guys don't know other than it being on the Nintendo 64. Let's move on.

Now this was a series I wanted to get back to and I have started on Pokemon Yellow but never finished it but you will not believe when I say this but I have finished Pokemon X. Pokemon X for me surprisingly is addicting and I had a lot of fun so I stayed hooked whether it was the story or not. Don't get me wrong the story was great but so are the Pokemon battles... But I will not speak of that one Pokemon battle that is in a situation that screams bad idea. You will have to ask me what battle that is.

I like Dynasty Warriors but I also like Gundam which is why I decided to play Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3. Yes I skipped right onto 3 since I didn't see the first one in my video game store. It is a Dynasty Warriors game but with giant robots. That is all there is to it but a lot of fun. If you are a Dynasty Warriors fan you are definitely gonna want to give this a try. If you are a Gundam fan then you better hope you like Dynasty Warriors because that is the only way you can enjoy this game.

Now I have done a Let's Play of this game recently so I thought I should share my recent experience AFTER doing the Let's Play. After the train wreck that is Let's Playing Mega Man 10 I have gotten really good at it so it was just me playing it on auto-pilot. I enjoy it and wish they would make more Mega Man games already.

Now I usually don't like playing FPS' unless it is Halo or Metroid Prime but I was told about this game a lot by my friend and how much he enjoys it so I thought I'd give it a try. The game of choice is Wolfenstein and man I love this game! It is an FPS dating back to when the Nazis hold martial law when they got their hands on more advanced technology. You play as B.J Blazkowicz and you have a medallion that is a relic that grants you different powers. These powers are switching to what would be a different dimension similar to yours but there being doors that don't exist in the other dimension and see enemy weak points, a shield power, a power that makes your bullets more powerful and to go through light barriers and a power to slow down time. Unlike other FPS games you get to see the face of B.J immediately and this is what I did not expect them to do. You also have a hub which is also full of enemies you can explore and find from intel to treasure. I could not put this game down due to how fun it is and how many upgrades you could get for your weapons. I definitely recommend giving this game if not the series a try.

BlazBlue Calamity Trigger is a fighting game where the main character Ragna the Bloodedge is wanted criminal who is going around smashing cauldrons which I am still trying to make sense of but pretty sure is explained in Continuum Shift. The game also follows Noel Vermillion who is a Libarium Lieutenant and Jin Kisaragi who is a Librarium Major and is Ragna's brother who is wanting to kill Ragna due to going insane. As for Noel she is a huge key in the story which I will not say because spoilers. I have played it on BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend but it still counts as beating Calamity Trigger. I enjoy all of the fights but the one fight I had trouble the most is when you fight Rachel Alucard. It took me so many tries. I was frustrated so much that I had to take a break from the game. So if you decide to play Calamity Trigger be prepared for that fight.

Wow that took awhile but it is done and I apologize for the long list. Hopefully it won't be as long next time.

Pokemon Sun. 11/23

Pretty great overall. I have very few complaints. They finally brought back difficulty for those of us who wanted it. Still has all the problems Pokemon games have developed over the years. (Super linearity and a lack of freedom in exploration, Stupid, Pointless and Annoying Rivals, etc.)

Worst thing of all is the S.O.S. mechanic. That can be pretty rage-inducing when all you want to do is catch a dang Pokemon.
