QUOTE (Siuloir @ May 25 2014, 01:24 PM)
No, you're not blunt, you're a jerk. Flat out. Please don't use the internet's childlike fascination with MBTI as a defense for your own poor personal skills and egotism. You're not 'INTJ', you're just an arrogant, self-aggrandizer. You're even talking down to me right now.  People like to use 'blunt' as an excuse for the fact that they are very poor human beings.

Again, I find myself more and more disappointed in the Fire Emblem community every day. It really saddens me to see a series I care so much about possess a fanbase who are just...unpleasant people.

Ah...actually, I AM INTJ. I've tested it several times over several years and I continually land high I, borderline N-S, high T, and medium-high J. I most certainly am INTJ.

I would prefer to leave the rest of this post as we are leaving the point of this topic. If you prefer and still wish to argue this out further, I'm open to PM.

QUOTE (GhastStation @ May 25 2014, 01:28 PM)
You think that's snarky? lol

Italics typically represents sarcasm when used in that manner from my experience since there is no universal Sarcastica font. Bold emphasis, italics or quotation marks sarcasm or titles. Such as Eunoia by Christian Bok. And by reflecting the comment I suggested but in a sarcastic manner it comes off as a level of snark.

If there was a different meaning to your use of italics, please explain. If it was a genuine thanks then I apologize. Sarcasm is hard to convey on the internet and italics is just the standard for beyond absurdity in the post.

QUOTE (GhastStation @ May 25 2014, 01:28 PM)
listen, having you grade my abilities to take cnc just makes me more averse to actually reading your epic paragraphs about how what you think is best for someone you don't know at all.

And I do apologize for that. I am somewhat wordy and will put lots of text into something quite trivial. I've written works where it takes 50k words to even get to any action or plot...so you know where I stand on "say what you want, quickly".

QUOTE (GhastStation @ May 25 2014, 01:28 PM)
...Swords aren't built for slashing and stabbing motions? Do you know what a sword is?

even if an estoc is weighted, its still dull. You can't even sharpen an estoc, so you'd be essentially swinging stake around.

See previous comment. I apologize for the poor post from 2 AM in that part since, re-reading it, I did extremely poorly make it.

QUOTE (GhastStation @ May 25 2014, 01:28 PM)
Did you want him to dance around instead? Stand up and do what he does when he stabs. Are you moving your legs? Yeah, no.
You move your hips and shoulders, and he's doing that so I don't know what to tell you.

Again, it's 100% your call on this. I don't mean to claim or suggest anything different.

What I did have as the very first thought at the time though was slashes as he passes by the target multiple times. Dash left, past target and land a slash. 180 turn, dash right of target, and land a slash. That's what I meant by the top couple points.

You are missing the point of what my statement meant up there. But no, I have no further desire to interact with you as a person. So we can move away from this discussion with me knowing that anything you now say is valueless.

EDIT - And a point of order. You claim you "don't usual post on FES" and have a join date of today. That means you haven't posted here period as it currently reads 1 post (being this one). Which either means we have a section where you can post without joining (Blazer?) or you joined just to post that. Either way, the wording seems suspicious compared to the date (again, I completely withdraw this and apologize if we have a section where you can post without joining).

No, you need to join to post. Even if I did enable non-registered members to post, it would say "Guest".

Siuloir, wtf? Why'd you even come here? Just to start shit and throw names? Lol. If I were still a moderator I would've banned your ass already because I hate when people join just for the sake of posting in one thread and adding fire to the flame. But I'm not, so all I can do is call you out for it. You're not being any nicer or more mature than the person you're making Kirant out to be.
Because I read FES, Blazer? I don't post here. I only post on Serenes, but read here and TEB as well. Nor do I start anything that wasn't going on. There's no nice way to tell someone they're being a jerk of a human being to someone, and I don't harbor any illusions about being a 'nice' person. I'm nice to people who extend the same courtesy to others, and it does make me upset when people treat other people poorly, but I'm not a nice person. Calling me out doesn't phase me in the slightest. The fact that people allow this sort of attitude to perpetuate in small communities is poisonous.

Also, considering the lion's share of your recent Serenes posts are pretty negative in tone Blazer, I find your attitude a bit surprising to be calling someone else out for 'starting shit'. Serenes, FES, TEB...It's all the same 'community' of Fire Emblem players.

That's about all I have to say on the matter.

Irony at its finest

If you think Kirant is unpleasant, you obviously haven't seen Serenes Forest or many of the non-FE sites out there... or looked in the mirror, for that matter

people on the internet are usually either idiots, assholes, or both anyhow

I could say more on this but anyhow, for you to come here and start indirectly dissing the people on my site, as if though they're the reason for the fanbase being the way it is, you've got some serious nerve. I don't even know you, but if I had to take a guess, if anyone makes this fanbase shit, it's people like you. You diss my members, you diss my site, and you diss my site, you diss me.

You're literally the only damn person in this topic who is being an immature twat. I usually swear a lot, so trying to read into that is pointless, I'm afraid. That might be all YOU have to say because you came in here, turned a small problem into a bigger one, and dissed my fucking site and my fucking members, but as it turns out, I've got LOTS more I could say.

QUOTE

Can't you read a situation? It was Kirant's and Ghast's problem and you just made it worse. You obviously don't have experience with this kind of thing. As it turns out, I've been modding longer than I can damn well remember. I didn't take sides, I didn't try to insult anyone, and I didn't even give my opinion on the critique. I just wanted Kirant and Ghast to handle it okay and try to see things from a bigger perspective. Which they did, and now everything is fine. I also apologized because I realized no one wanted my thoughts either. I'm not pulling a double-standard here, but Kirant and Ghast happen to both be friends of mine, very different friends but friends nonetheless.

Maybe there's no 'nice' way but there are definitely better ways

Generally speaking telling just getting mad at someone isn't very helpful in general, I don't think anyone I know has ever been like "oh, I'm a jerk? how could I not realize! you're right, I'm such a terrible person, let me instantly pull a 180 right now!". Uh, no, maybe in a Tales of game because that's a freaking unrealistic JRPG series, but not in real life.

QUOTE
but I'm not a nice person

As it turns out, most people on FES are nice people. So you're not going to fit in very well here. Kirant was pretty much calm the entire time and admitted his faults and apologized once if not twice. He also kept an open mind. I'm not being nice to you now, but only because you weren't being nice to my forums. I heard a few things about you before this and was hoping we could get along if we ever had the chance to talk but if this is the kind of personality you have then maybe not.

So in other words, since you're being unreasonable, causing drama, offending people, and dissing the site that has welcomed hundreds of newbs, idiots, and other people alike, the site that's made fun of for being so welcoming, I should make sure that "this sort of attitude" doesn't "perpetuate" in "small comunities" because it's "poisonous" and ban you, right? Before you infect the rest of the community?

Haha. Yeah. I wish. Maybe I'll use that Report button.

"All I have to say on the matter"

>edits post with more details

rofl

You've been here for how long? You don't have a clue about the history of the Fire Emblem community, or me, or SF, for that matter, now do you? See, you sort of need to or otherwise you just end up looking ignorant.

And no, it's not all the same community, each forum has different rules, types of members, sources of activity, sources of new members... the "Fire Emblem community" as a whole is the collection of each community but it's very difficult to make any broad statements about this "collection".

Now, I'm not going to lie and say I don't make some poor posts on SF. But I've helped countless noobs there, I've made lots of supportive posts, and I've contributed to the community in other ways that again, you don't know. I do make some trolly and negative posts on rare occasion but that's because I stopped taking SF seriously a while ago--that community is it's own thing, and you'd be wise not to bunch them all up because that's how discrimination starts. Likewise, the persona on there is a different person from the persona here or elsewhere. Why do I have different personas? Explaining that would require going into a history lecture that I don't want to, but tl;dr because the normal persona I have wouldn't fit in at all. Again, you haven't been here to understand, so stop acting like some elitist know-it-all Fire Emblem veteran looking down on the infected, poisonous swamp of Fire Emblem players. If we're the swamp, then you're the shit that sits at the bottom making it smell bad.

I wilfully started a fire in my own topic. So if anyone should have their finger pointed at, its me. And I apologize to Blazer and Siuloir for 'making' them jump in.

I never dissed your site, or your members (Except Kirant, who again, was being a jerk)? I expressed disappointment in the entire community when its members act like Kirant did. He has, by the way, maintained his sense of superiority throughout. You're being incredibly defensive.

And no, I read the spriting and hacking sections, same as I do most places, as matters of self improvement.

You're clearly very upset about a variety of topics completely unrelated to the core issue here (so am I, which puts the onus on my tone of posts on me, but I accept that) so this isn't a point of time to have a conversation about this. If you'd like, there's a number of ways you can reach me . I have a great deal of respect for you and what you've done and I know you've taken more shit for what you've done than quite possibly anyone in the community. But I don't have the patience you do and when I see people apply critique that really isn't so much valid critique as it is condescension and contempt.

You don't have to put the blame on yourself for my actions. I could have just as easily, as Blazer said, not used my first actual post on FES the way I did. I'm not apologizing for it, but I recognize the perspective.

I've gotta go so I can't say much more, but just know that it's *NOT* a good idea to go calling the FE community bad as a whole. You're essentially using Kirant as an example and that naturally extends to FES. I'm the creator of FES, so how the community was shaped is something I take responsibility for, good or bad (and I certainly realize it's not perfect by any stretch of the means).

In other words, I don't appreciate you pointing fingers. I can see where you're coming from and why you have problems with the community, but it doesn't seem like you realized the implications of likening the community to being infected with poison or whatever it is that you said (the point being, you have a very negative outlook on it). I also have a negative outlook on it, but sharing that negative outlook doesn't do any good. I realized this a while ago. I would start shit on SF because I didn't like how people acted there, but it never did any good. You can try to accept the problem or try to do better yourself.

In my case, I gave up on SF so I just do what I want and have fun. I use usernames I pretty much only use on SF, like "Strawhat Luffy" and "Trails in the Blaze" (an inside joke). It's a different persona.

My own values come into play with FES. I don't think Kirant was doing nearly as bad as you say. And you have to realize how bad it looks when you come jumping in here only adding fire to the flame. As far as FES goes, you can tell just from the member count and how we have lots of new members that we try to be welcoming. People can testify that I have a LOT of patience with people when I want to, and that I also wouldn't stand up for others not being welcoming. I recall multiple instances where people wanted to troll new members or other posts and they stopped because they know that's not something I like and I wouldn't put up for it. So when you act like FES's members, and therefore FES itself, is such a huge part of the problem, it does, in fact, bother me. There may be a little bit of drama on this forum, but that's natural. People have to live and butt heads sometimes. There's no such thing as a utopia.

As you can see though, Kirant and Ghast were able to resolve the problem with minimal hard feelings. That's pretty good. :\

Anyway, I'm sorry for anything I said that may have offended you, I probably didn't mean anything by it but I realize it could be taken negatively regardless of my intentions. I'm reaaaally late now so I have to go but feel free to have the last word. Normally I would also apologize for being sensitive as to your comments, but FES is one of those things where it's dearer to me than myself--if you insult me personally, I'm used to that, but FES and the people on it practically saved my life so I will definitely lose my cool a bit when I feel it's under attack (which, even if it wasn't your intention and you don't agree, is something you did).

EDIT: To clarify, I'm not mad with Ghast or Siuloir. I *was* mad with Siuloir for about 2 minutes but while typing I calmed down. I finished the post because I wanted to share my thoughts this time and I think Siuloir isn't one of those unreasonable types who it's pointless to talk to, but yeah. (I actually have LOTS of posts where I've ranted, realized it was pointless to share the rant and that I probably wasn't thinking straight, and just deleted it, but I actually followed through this time. XD)

Again, as I said, I allowed my frustration with the community recently to come to a head, and Kirant's attitude (which I read as dismissive and condescending, and still do) is a sort of personal bias. My implication was never that FES itself was a huge part of the problem, to make it clear, just the toxic attitudes that pop up across all of the fan communities. But there's no use in us belaboring that point.
Don't feel as if you need to apologize to me for defending something of that much personal value to you, though. I understand that completely and would absolutely do the same were I you. I am sorry to have put you in that position though.

Well that was fun.
Siuloir from what I've seen of your posts here and on SF you seem like a cool dude(?), you posts defend Ghast who is also a friend of mine so you get points for that. It's too bad Kirant left that impression on you though, I find him likeable enough, though I see how he could have come off badly.
Anyways glad that's settled.

Back on topic, your hack looks great so far Ghast, I really like the the animation. The only criticism I could make is that HERE his shadow looks a bit off. It's probably just me, but I think it should be a bit rounder on the left side (our POV). There's one other thing, though it might be my computer or the video, on Bram's return from his critical there's a sword moving motion that comes after he's moved his sword, I don't know if that was intentional but it seems a bit odd to me.

Good luck with the Hack, hope you can make other videos for your new animations, I'm mostly interested in the flying archer.

Also, WHY IS THE SHAMAN BOSSES PORTRAIT ORANGE IF HIS BATTLE PALETTE IS GREEN WTF ÑJKLASGASDGHLKJASDGH!

Ah. So this wrapped up nicely while I took my cousin out to see the last X-Men movie.

QUOTE (GhastStation @ May 25 2014, 02:11 PM)
I wilfully started a fire in my own topic. So if anyone should have their finger pointed at, its me. And I apologize to Blazer and Siuloir for 'making' them jump in.

I would actually like to apologize here. Reading my 2nd (? Whichever one had the reference to Extra Credits) post, I figure some of those things are better suited over PM as they don't directly pertain to the hack and the content thereof but instead deal with personality clashes.

My first post could have been better worded and when you have sides calling in friends and other people's feelings feeling attacked nobody takes a step back to say "maybe I should get myself a sandwich". Moving back and enjoying a movie with her kind of let things settle themselves. For my involvement in adding fuel to the flames in the above two manners I apologize.

Either way, I think I'll withdraw from this topic as any advice I could provide will rub some sore wounds. I wish you luck with the progression of your hack Ghast and, again, truly hope to see your name in the list of recommended mods someday. There is a great deal of creativity and I think you've got the drive to make it something special. If anybody really feels the need to flip me off/yell at me/comment about something further, please do it by PM as it really isn't' constructive here.

Madman: try to make better posts, lol

.

I was just trying to tell him that I think it was a cool animation because, A) I thought it was , and cool.gif I wanted to let him know his hard work didn't go unnoticed. I left my criticism vague because I don't (and I esp don't now) expect the person to change it, I was simply stating it could be better. If he wanted to know "how" he could ask but, I choose to refrain to wasting my time giving a long critique when there's like a 50/50 chance they're going to read it (and then like a 15/100 chance they will do something about it considering it looks pretty much finished). Also, by not giving him (or most ppl - in this case scenario) the details I spare myself from his (their) rage.

If you must know:
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

- The use of his 2nd sword in his normal attack should be more clearly articulated, both in draw and in strike. (instead the animation focuses on the sword the eye is already drawn to - this generally means the use of the other sword (esp when masked the way it is) go largely unnoticed). Tbh I didn't even notice it until someone else pointed it out.

- The 1st problem is rooted in his "standing" position... which is bad. How do you unsheathe a sword as long as a katana with your left hand while it's on your left side (of your hip). It's simple you don't because you can't. (However, despite this I still think his standing pos is cool it just creates problems unless you account for them).

- I can't tell if he's holding the left hand sword where the point of the sword is facing up or down (look up "Jaffar FE" to get a better idea of what I'm talking about). --- After he makes the strike it appears like the sword is then flipped making me think it's facing up, but since I never see which way the blade or point is facing while it's in his hand I cannot be sure.

On the other hand his dodge was fine and his critical was sexy as hell. So overall I like it (esp since getting a crit would be just that much more rewarding).

Personality types divided into 16 categories are bogus. if I were you I'd let go of your attachment to INTJ because, it's ridiculous and illogical. Of course, that's just my opinion - however, I believe most logical thinkers would see such a thing as heinous .
A)It's not that simple cool.gif if you know jack-shit about statistics, most of those numbers are bullshit (they generalize a country based off of distorted "random sampling" (it isn't random because A) if it's a study the people that go are the ones that CHOOSE to go thus - making it not random cool.gif if it's a survey... it's a survey I shouldn't have to explain the 100 reasons why this falls short of truth/accuracy). Furthermore these experiments/surveys are only done in a few areas (county to county can have vastly different results i.e. 100 diff surveys/experiments can not encompass an accurate rep of America or large human populace )]. Most importantly, they get way too descriptive on each personality type and use generalization tactics along with flattery to blurr rationalism and create a sort of confirmation bias. Also, as for the tests - those are also bullshit. Why? Because lets say you had a friend who knew you better then you knew yourself. That friend would be more honest, and would pick different answers then you would pick. Why? (This is one of the 100 reasons surveys are bullshit) Because we like to believe that we "are" a certain way or act a certain way, but in reality all of us (yes all of us) are tempted to delude the self (which extends to our actions) to a certain extent via coping mechanism. Where, how , and to what extent we delude ourselves varies. Being part of a society, being raised the way we are, the morals we are taught, the things that make us - us --- we believe them to be our own --- we believe we made those choices to be "this way". But those choices were all a guided/forced hand - it isn't until we look at it this way that we see our self-deception. And even then, we go on believing our identity as our own. Wow what the hell just happened... oh crap I rant stormed again didn't I... well fuck nuggets.

QUOTE
Because I read FES, Blazer?

Why do you read it? Precisely so you could find the opportune moment to give your unwanted thoughts?

QUOTE
Nor do I start anything that wasn't going on.

QUOTE
There's no nice way to tell someone they're being a jerk of a human being to someone, and I don't harbor any illusions about being a 'nice' person

QUOTE
The fact that people allow this sort of attitude to perpetuate in small communities is poisonous.

QUOTE
Also, considering the lion's share of your recent Serenes posts are pretty negative in tone Blazer, I find your attitude a bit surprising to be calling someone else out for 'starting shit'. Serenes, FES, TEB...It's all the same 'community' of Fire Emblem players.

Hey blazer remember that thing I said about people walking on you.... unless they cross the line... I think I just saw someone cross the line [*Personal note* never cross blazer or he will throw a truck at you].

Odd little shitstorm happened, I see! That's beside what I came to post, though.

So far, I'm liking what I'm seeing. Not exactly in love with your mugs, but they're certainly not bad (Dewey and Malcom are awesome), and your battle-sprites are as good as always. I can't say anything about the writing, but the premise of your story is interesting.

I'm looking forward to a public patch! Can't wait to see all the characters in action and play another (hopefully) fun FE hack.

If you train your already good sense of proportion and get a better sense of shading and coloring... ...you really have great odds of being the next great customer around this forums and even FEND, congrats. :3

1. Its pretty easy to notice that's there's two swords being used, and if you have sound on you can hear two strikes. I've never heard of anyone else having a problem with this.

2. His sword isn't in a sheathe.

3. The blade... is facing down. Unless im reading this wrong, its really obvious where the sword is facing.

thanks for the more specific cnc though, that's what I like to hear.

@Naeng

Thanks, i'm not great at mug splicing, most of the mugs seen are things I did, and since then i've had a lot of mugs done for me to replace em, so by the time there's a release the Human mug quality will be a lot better hahaha.

EDIT

Also remember this is my HACKING thread, not my spriting thread. So CnC about my sprites I can guarantee I'm not going to really care about. I'm not posting animation vids here to ask for critique, its solely to show how the hack is going. Along with the rest of the updates in this thread
