Bobryk's Book: It's finally here!

Also, I don't see why you would have to wait. It's not like people still couldn't buy this book after the second one comes out. In fact, I prefer coming into good series that already have multiple books so I don't have to wait for a sequel.

s for the cover, I ****ing love it. I imagined Sig with shorter hair, but everything else about him is pretty solid. Rose is decently spot-on, but on the cover it's hard to tell what colors her eyes are, but she's supposed to have dark blue eyes. |
Funny, I was thinking that was Lloyd on the cover. Since the book describes him as having hair that goes down to his shoulders.

@Nayr I can see why. In the first few drafts of the cover the guy had longer hair and looked a lot more like Lloyd (which I didn't want) and requested it to be shortened.
The two look a bit alike anyway (both have dark hair and eyes) so I'm fine with it, heh.

Also this aspiring writer has a few questions about the process of how one goes about writing a novel.
1. Do you write page by page yourself(32 lines + 65 characters per line) or do you just write as you please and the editors fix it up to look neat?
2. Do your publishers coax you to write your stories a certain way or do they prefer to let you retain your artistic integrity?
3. Do your publishers push deadlines on you?
4. Did you submit your novel over the internet or did you have to mail in a printed manuscript or draft or w/e you call it?

Try giving your main characters more distinction between each other in terms of hair, iris color, and stuff in the future. That way its easier to tell them apart and doesn't confuse people. They're easier to tell apart in text because Lloyd is taller and, of course, his personality is drastically different. But maybe there's a hidden reason why they look similar? Don't worry, it's intentional. But thanks for the critique-- I tend not to go into intense descriptions of people or the environments.
1. Editors make it look neat and do paragraph breaks where they deem necessary. They chop long paragraphs in two, create the interior layouts, etc. (That's why an actual in print book is more pages than the MS Word version.)
2. My publisher is good about letting me write the way I want. They make minor edits here and there and suggest certain things, but for the most part their copy editing doesn't take away my style, which is nice.
3. Nope! I'm free to have it ready when I please (within reason, of course). I'd get yelled at if it took too long, but they realize I'm a college student and writing isn't my career. This changes per company though. I've heard stories of other places that have their authors on a strict schedule (ex: big publishing houses).
4. They gave me the option of e-mailing my manuscript or sending it through snail-mail on a disc. I e-mailed it. I don't think there are any publishers these days who would force you to print it out before submitting. (Although I did that anyway to edit it...thank you college computer labs and free printing!)

So basically they're related. Probably brothers or cousins. Maybe clones if you're mixing sci-fi into it. lol
Also thanks for the info pal.

However, it's likely that I either won't read it right away or read it along with God Emperor of Dune. I definitely want to read your book, but at the same time I'm deep into the Dune books and the end isn't exactly close (Still have like 10 more books in that universe to read) but I can take a break.

@Shu I actually have...two personal copies left, so yes! And they're paperbacks, so it's $12. Ebay link is here: http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=260894343368
And I'd do the same thing if I were you. Finish off what you're reading first, then you can snag mine. I give you permission

Just so you know, I have no more bookmarks left so you'll be getting a postcard with it instead. Don't worry, it still has my face on it.

My little brother is looking at it right now. He's a big Fire Emblem fan, and I told him that there were some things derived from the series in the book, and he's suddenly interested. Looking forward to cracking the book open myself.

If your brother is an FE fan, why hasn't he come around here? lol
Unless your 'little brother' is really your split personality that comes out when you dress like Ness.

I've only gotten up to the Black Knight chapter of the book. I'm a pretty slow reader.

And 120 pages on cow milking? It's amazing what gets published these days. The book industry is dying out and authors still write this crap? (That being said I don't know when the book you're reading was actually written, but still.) And let's see...that's about halfway through my book so...quite a lot XD
IMO in schools they should have us read books that we'll enjoy so that we don't grow up hating reading. I mean, LOTR is an almost perfect symbolic representation of our world today...why can't we read that in school!?
@ Mankut sweet, thanks! Much appreciated
