It normally crops up in a shop at some point in the game, and there's normally enough cash to go round >_>

And having the same durability as a silver sword isn't that bad.

You get Regal Blade the last chapter of FE7 making the common Iron Sword better than it.
Killing Edge > Silver Sword > Steel Sword > Iron Sword > Regal Blade > Slim Sword
