[Mankut]

Mankut was sitting on a rock, looking at the blazing fire. He thought about how easily he had been defeated by Onikage. "I barely did anything," Mankut thought. "Unlike everyone else." Mankut stood up. "Well I'd better go to sleep. It's past midnight." He thought, retreating to his tent.

Alark rolled around,and sat up. Shaking his head, he looked around to everything being blurry, Grabbing his sword he wearily stood up, looking around to see where Onikage was. Spinning swiftly around and pointing his sword behind him, he noticed drag marks. Lowering his sword and turning again, he noticed everyone sitting around a fire looking at him. Sheepishly, he said "I'm sorry you had to drag me." and then walked into the shadows of a nearby tree and went into rest mode.

Seraph sat silently staring at the fire's flames. His chest hurt but would heal soon enough. He had bandaged it up, badly but it would hold. He decided to sleep. He put his head on the ground and dozed off...

Mankut entered his small tent and lied down. He thought about the new allies he had made and their special abilities. Pulling out his sword, he began to clean the hair and blood from it until it shined. He then fell asleep.

The orc remained quiet sittign there in his full plate.

"So know one wants the shield then." He muttered and then looked at the two mages who had not yet dozed off.

"Perhaps one of you two would want it. You went down pretty hard Illithid."


OOC: No, the growths are simply temporary. This reminds me to establish rules on bard spells.

Aurora sat on a fallen log in a daze, staring at the fire as it glowed and danced in the night. She combed her fingers through her hair, getting out the last of the twigs and pebbles that had been blown into it during the battle. She was glad the Orc had managed to save them all, though she worried greatly about the aura of darkness she had glimpsed as well as the strength that cam along with it. Was this a small taste of the darkness the king had mentioned earlier?

She was awoken from her thoughts when Gragnar spoke. He mentioned something about the Dragon Shield, an item he had picked up after the battle. She looked over to the Illithid and nodded to what the Orc had said.

"Yes, you'll need the shield more than I will" she said, while smothering a yawn. "Now if you'd excuse me, I shall go to sleep. Good night.....Thank you again Gragnar." She walked over to where she had pitched her makeshift tent earlier. She didn't exactly go to sleep, but she concentrated on her book of spells, as she usually did before she went to sleep.

Kajh groaned. It had been nearly three days since he left the city, on his forced retreat into the wilderness. Technically he was a monk, and he guessed that meant being all religious and holy and junk. So when the Father who oversaw his training ordered him on this retreat he really didn't have any choice, unless he wanted to risk losing all his connections in the church, of course.

But everything had been wrong right from the very beginning. He was totally and helplessly lost, he couldn't find the camp site Father had recommended, and now he couldn't even find his way back into town! As he walked aimlessly, his stomach growled loudly, reminding him how long it was when all his supplies ran out. He sighed warily, thinking of how much of a city man he was. He had met an adventurer who lived on nothing but the animals he caught for months at a time, and here Kajh couldn't even catch anything for a single day!

Suddenly he spotted a light off to his right, ahead of him. He began running toward it, his excitement and relief growing. He laughed to himself as he ran, gleefully wondering what these campers might have to eat.

He stumbled into the small campsite totally out of breath. He rested his hands on his knees and took a look around, seeing a number of makeshift tents and a fire. He raised his eyebrows at the two he saw around the fire, an orc and an elf. Well what an odd combination! He thought to himself. "Sorry to in-" He cut himself off with a choke. His voice was hoarse to a point of being almost inaudible. He cleared his throat, stood up and tried again. "Terribly sorry to intrude," he said, his voice a little better than before. "But I've been wandering around for the past few days quite lost, and I was just wondering if you had anything I could eat....?" He gave a feeble smile, he was never very good at begging.

The orc looked up at the man, he had been on watch.

"Travler. You are welcome to join the party. Food we lack. Dwarven city is near by. We journey there. We will escourt you there, however, tonight, you will have to deal with a spare ration. It is not very good tasting." he said picking it up out of his pack and throwing it at the monk.

"Enjoy."

OOC: What's going on with the dwarf city? xD My poor minotaur wants attention...

Kajh grinned at the Orc, and gave him a small bow. "Thank you! Anything is better than nothing. I'll see what I can do about payment when we reach this dawrven city." He didn't have many connections in any dawrven cities, but he sure he could work something out. He took a seat by the fire and opened up the pack, breaking off a piece of what appeared to be bread and ate it hungrily, ignoring the foul taste. He addressed the Orc and the Elf when he was finished. "Thank you again. My name's Kajh, by the way. I'm a mercenary."

In powered down mode, the warforged was watching his surroundings. Seeing this new character entering, he did not move much, but focused his attention on him. Seeing how he was a holy man, Alark had a mixed sense of disgust and respect for him. Slipping into a thoughtful philosophical mood, Alark lost track of the conversation.

Fastforwarding

The night came and went for the adventuring party, somehow, the monk did not question the fact they were traveling with a vile race, the Illithid. As they approached the Dwarven city, instead of a city, they saw a huge mountain and a tunnel that lead into it. The group followed the tunnel down, to find a huge city with in the mountain. The gate's to the city open, the company was expected. There in front of them, stood a red beared dwarf in armor, next to him, a minotaur.

"Greetings! The King sent word of you! How was the trip here? You seemed to have taken your time. Did you have any problems."

[Kiki]

The man, who had joined them seemed pitiful, and Aurora felt sorry for him. She watched him from the corner of her eye as they walked along the path to the dwarven kingdom. She felt at peace as they walked through the forest, the memory of their battle with the corrupted man, only a faded nightmare.

Eventually they made it to the great tunnel that led to the kingdom. She looked to the sky, bathing in the sun's rays for as long as she could before stepping into the light of the illuminated crystals.

A dwarf stood in front of the gate, beside him a minotaur, someone she hadn't expected. Then again, they were travelling with a Illithid, an Orc, and a Warforged despite her being an elf. The dwarf welcomed them warmly.

"Greetings! The King sent word of you! How was the trip here? You seemed to have taken your time. Did you have any problems."

Aurora smiled sweetly "Yes we did have quite the bump in our road" she said "We were attacked by a man calling himself Onikage. He was quite powerful, but by working together we managed to defeat him and the skeletons he summoned. When will we be seeing the king?"

[Forbz]

Rollizo grunted. The elf spoke too quickly for him. He turned to the dwarf, who was less than half his height and a tenth of his weight, and blinked his tiny eyes expectantly. He muttered something in a strange language that didn't quit seem to match the sounds his mouth could make.

Mankut studied the minotaur. It was tall and bulky, like others of its kind. Instinctively, he fingered the handle of his sword and wondered how much of a threat the minotaur was.

"Ahahahaha. We heard of this man before. Came here before, caused a big ruckous. Killed some of our men, then vanished in a black cloud of smoke when things got too hot." The man laughed. "Glad to hear he's dead."

"I smashed his skull in." Gragnar said. "With this very hammer." he gave a sly grin, as if to take the credit for killing him, but said nothing. He wanted too, but he knew he owed the mage too much for it.

"Good. We need some people like that. As for seeing the king, he's busy at the moment, sent me to greet you. You see, lately, there's been a cavern that we use for mining. Our mages sense a great and terrible magical prescence in their. An evil to be feared. We've sent some of our greatest warriors in, only to have none of them return."

He paused for a moment and closed his eyes and sighed.

"It's upsetting really. Relying on outside help is not something we are comfortable with, but is neccessary. We have a friend here from nearby to assist you. This is our friend, Rollizo. Forgive his speach, he understands common very well, but can't speak it well. He speaks Terran. Well, now that that is said and done. Off you go. Cavern is outside the city, to the northwest."

With that the dwarf hobbled off into a nearby tavern.

Kajh gave the minotaur a small bow when he saw it, but in his head he screamed at himself. "This is crazy!" he thought. "All these beasts!!! Gonna get myself killed!" However he knew to keep his mouth shut, and said nothing and simply listened to everyone talk. When the darwf requested assistance Kajh immidiatly began considering the possibilities. If they came back victorious...., they'd be war Heros, cheering fans, woman and the like. Kajh bowed his head solemly to the dawrf. "I might not be a powerful warrior like these fellows, but I'll use what power the good god has given me and try to banish the evil."

[Mankut]

Mankut thought about the new presence that had been sensed by the dwarf mages. "Maybe we could defeat this presence, but it is highly unlikely", Mankut thought.

[Seraphinox]

Seraph looked at the new person who had joined their ranks. He could see the fright in his face as he saw the minotaur.

Seraph only had fascination for the minotaur. He kept quiet as he didn't feel like talking.

Alark looked at the minotaur, and liked this one too. This one and the orc, the others were weak. Especially that bard fellow, and that monk. Looking around to see which weapon the minotaur used, the warforged ignored the puny dwarf.Seeing everyone stand around, Alark started to get bored.
