I'll bake you all muffins or something for keeping you waiting.
There's so many good games in this damn genre, Okami, Zelda, Metroid, Simpsons Hit and Run...
I pick Shadow of the Collosus.

I draft action-adventure/open sandbox Red Dead Redemption

If welcome surprises were an Olympic event, Red Dead Redemption would win silver to Final Fantasy I's gold...the tie breaker going FFI's way because Square Enix intended Final Fantasy to be...literally their final fantasy game. But the game was a massive project. The costs and scale were so large that at the end of its 6 (!) year development cycle, Rockstar expected a net loss and was finishing it just to see if their San Diego team could compile a triple-A game. That's 6 years and probably slave-esc employee time down the drain. They needed 4 million sales to even break even. To put that in perspective, Fire Emblem Awakening put up 1 million in August, many months after opening its doors.
But what they delivered was far from what was expected.
This game is incredible. When people argue game as art, Red Dead Redemption is one of my top examples. It's awe inspiring in its beauty. Between the incredible sunrises, realistic colour for battles and the bleak atmosphere that fits the dying Wild West, there's a lot of love put into the game. And script writers must take note: this is how you write tragedy. The song selection is incredible. I talk to non-video game fans, the guys who only play two or three games and don't look for artistic merit, and you can hear the way they tear up when they talk about "Far Away" by Jose Gonzalez. I'm not a huge fan of shooting games but this broke all the scales for me. For a game that could be simply called "Grand Theft Horse" and removes so many human limitations, it plays well into human nature. The fact that we want to cleanse ourselves, to be redeemed.
Minor historical inconsistencies aside (the starting pistil was the most effective of them all and the Volcanic Pistol was garbage), it's the perfect period game with a beautiful and heartbreaking story.

I pick Shadow of the Collosus. |
One of those games I really need to play through again, don't think I appreciated it the first time.

I take that's KH1?
Good game, although I don't think it's my personal top in the series.

Wonderful large world to explore, tons of sidemissions and sidequests. Endless enjoyment by sheer screwing around with the cops. By far the most 'complete' GTA game I have played so far. Hopeful for GTA5 though.

I just started playing GTA V, it's fantastic. SA was on my board, it was that or TLoU for me, could've gone either way for me.

Forgot this existed for a while.
You all took my top picks, now I have to think about this slightly, assholes.
I guess my pick goes to Far Cry 3.
Fun game, for sure. Not exactly my first pick, but it's certainly up there in the top ten. I guess it's sorta like a modern day Red Dead Redemption with a shitty story taking place in some tropical islands in the pacific. It has a level progression system that gets you some sweet (Yeah, right) magical tats, and a few drug trips are had over the course of the game!
So, in short, not very much like RDR apart from being a sandbox shooter with some online co-op missions.
If you train your already good sense of proportion and get a better sense of shading and coloring... ...you really have great odds of being the next great customer around this forums and even FEND, congrats. :3

I had a few games around for if I was lower down, like DMC3, or a Resident Evil. There are others, but they might be relevant later

GTA V probably would've made mine if I'd been playing it then.

Incoming a million Mario sports games.
Question do the smash games count, or no?

And don't think about asking if Smite's a sport either hue

Yeah, I figured more would have played that then, say, 358d/2. I was going to choose HL2, but I figured that that was more of a shooter, and I haven't really played it anyway.
