Pokemon will and always will be a tedious experience of the same event happening over and over again. You're still playing as a 10 year old or so kid running around his or her location collecting badges, while you defend your region from a specific team that threatens the general peace in the area. Eventually you reach your goal of beating the elite four and becoming the champion of that region. Once that's all said and done, you're cursed with a boring end game with not much to offer. And the major reason why many people consider Generations 1 and 2 to be the best? Pure nostalgia trips being used for wishing to go back to younger days. Pokemon Red was in fact the very first video game that I have ever played. Sure it's still fun now, but the series in general have lost it's charm over the years, especially since I know it's simply riding off of it's previous successes. |
The main character was never supposed to be 10. I mean, really. What parent lets their 10 year old run around in a dangerous world full of vicious pokemon and criminal organizations? That was something changed in the Americanized version to make it easier for kids to relate to the main character. I mean look at the female protagonists of B/W and B/W 2. How many 10 year olds do you see with breasts and curvy bodies? Not a lot. In Japan, the protagonists of B/W and B/W 2 are supposed to be 16-17.
