I actually don't get your point, because despite you calling the above a 'mini-rant', it wasn't elaborate enough that it actually explained/made obvious whatever you're trying to say. But I will say that putting up hypothetical situations that don't actually exist isn't very convincing; the rules are what they are and saying that they MIGHT be something bad seems a bit silly.

I see what you mean about manipulating the set; however, this contest works differently than others, as dictated by Shu, because it's about making the best portrait in visual appeal and spriting technique, but none of that is "best use of the parts of the portrait". No, this contest does NOT test your ability to make effective use of all that is given to you.
And using all 3 mugs being stealing rules has nothing to do with anything, Shu made the rules himself, if they were coincidentally the same rules, that wouldn't be stealing, that would just be a coincidence. In this case they aren't the exact same rules, oh well.

How is that unfair at all? It's a choice the spriter makes. No one is forcing them to do either. It's NOT unfair because each spriter is given equal opportunity. If they go through the "trouble" of using all 3 mugs, that just means that they wanted to do so in order to make their portrait more original, which means that the portrait will have more visual appeal, whereas using 2 will most likely result in less visual appeal. That's their choice :\

@raigntk don't be a mini-mod, while I agree members shouldn't tell other members what to do, and I don't like to tell other people what to do either, so if they don't like the rules, they are free to start their own contest, like you said. :\

Anyways, Sea Lion wins the first week with his submission:
Super fresh usage of the cloak, broski. Congrats.
I won't show any runner ups, partially because I couldn't really tell. All of these submissions were pretty solid, guys. Props all around.
(Note: Just because I am not posting runner ups doesn't mean the other judges I get to judge these won't. KEEP IT LOOSE.)
Anyways, see ya in week 2. That thread will be posted shortly.
