aww man :( poor budget and too fast paced, huh? a lot of anime fall prey to that, that's a real shame. I hear the industry is real tough in Japan :\

anyhow, right now I'm... not watching anything! that's right. nothing. anime stopped, and nothing has started yet. and I'm not watching One Piece or catching up on anything.

I did watch Eden of the East, which was a little weird and at times kinda disorienting (a little hard to follow the plot without stopping to fill in the holes on my own, I guess) but as a whole it was solid. oh, and I watched the 3rd episode of Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, but that's more like one big movie series split up into 5 parts or something, lol, idk. but yeah nothing on my list right now until Gatchaman Crowds comes, and I'm not sure I'll even like that, we'll see.

First episode of Dragon Ball super...i don't know what to say. It's obviously an introduction to the Dragon Ball universe for people who don't know anything, and a recap for those who do, but it was just so unlike what I've come to expect from the series. It definitely has itself set up for some awesome stuff later though. Basically i can't say anything about the show as a whole, but i was both disappointed and excited with the first episode.

Interesting.

I hope you or someone else keeps posting how it is because I don't intend to watch it myself unless I hear really good things about it, lol.

Is the down low in between arcs that Dragon Ball always does. We always get a slice of life like episode between arcs so I wasn't too surprised. It was nice, can't say anything too positive or negative about the series yet. Goku is still father of the year Kappa.

I'm rewatching Darker than Black because I glazed over it before, and because Chinese Electric Batman.

Gakkou gurashi started today. Seems pretty awesome. Most of the episode was just a school slice of life thing, but the last 2 minutes or so we're very...blood on the windows and zombie looking things outside the school. Probably gonna be a good one.

Gate was ok, meh. no motivation to watch episode 2

Classroom Crisis was slightly better, but still not that great.

I tried Kancolle to see what was all the commotion (it's apparently pretty big in Japan) and... no, just no. not my thing. too many girls. especially younger ones. and unneeded "fan service" that isn't even appealing, just gross. ugh. no. I don't dig it. don't think I can continue. the ending was also pretty lame IMO. >_>

Seraph also suggested one other show (pretty much anything else he mentioned I decided not to watch because it didn't sound good enough), but I've yet to watch that. maybe tonight.

oh, idk if I mentioned it, but I watched Gatchaman Crowds Insight (sequel to Gatchaman Crowds), and it was solid. Episode 00 or whatever felt like a lead-in to the actual new season, which was... solid but not amazing. Feels like things are just way different and I can't see it living up to the first season especially with various plot points resolved and a lot of character development having already happened—I mean, sure, that's why they're introducing new characters, but it's kinda meh, like... I don't want to just deal with the new parts, idk, can't really explain it. anyway, I'll probably still enjoy it just because it seems like a solidly done show in general, with a few weird and unappealing parts that I try to overlook >_>;

dragon ball super episode two was better. not quite there yet, but definitely better. there was actually some action this time during the second half of the episode. beerus fought some little guy who transformed into a not so little guy(i say fought, but it was more just beerus being awesome) because he wanted some dinosaur meat, and then beerus proceeded to explode the planet. there was also some goku and vegeta training scenes. the end of the episode makes me think it'll go back to the typical dragon ball style of things exploding everywhere for no apparent reason soon.

Everything from this season except Chaos Dragon because it was crap.

Gate episode 2 was good, hard to watch if you're a fan of the fantasy side though.

Rokka no Yousha episode 2 was very good as well, I like where it's going,

will update soon when I've watched more episode 2's

LOL

actually though there are way more better shows than I had anticipated

Gate is pretty solid. I'm not particularly a fan of the fantasy much but it seems like it's going to increase a bit as of next episode. Anyway it's definitely better than I expected and I like it. A bit dark even. :o

Classroom Crisis is solid. High school setting again, which is bleh, but it's not that bad and it reminds me a little of Assassination Classroom with all the students and them being a bit quirky though it has less people and a totally different premise. Anyhow I'm already a bit invested into the show so I'll probably stick with it.

Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers is probably the highlight of this season being that I looked at it and thought it seemed ok but probably wouldn't be that great but it's actually pretty freaking interesting. I'm really curious to see how this goes and I like what are shown to be the two main characters thus far. Hoping it continues to be awesome.

Also, I tried Charlotte and though I really don't like the character designs a lot and there are some other things about it that are meh, the premise actually isn't that bad. And it's being worked on by Jun Maeda who also worked on stuff like Clannad and Angel Beats! so it'll probably be at least a little bit of an emotional trip. ._.

Also Gatchaman Crowds Insight is solid but doesn't feel quite as good as last season's. It's a bit humorous and a little interesting I guess but the novelty of Hajime's personality has worn off and I'm not really liking the new characters much. I can't really get too into the plot and it feels a little... I dunno, contrived and maybe even boring? Idk like... I feel like Rui is exacting similar to how s/he did before, and the other characters have their personalities but nothing is really being developed with them (and the first season didn't really leave much room for development), so meh. We'll see how it goes. I'm definitely enjoying it but I can't honestly say it's amazing. (The music is awesome though and "B-B-B-BIIIIIIIIIRD, GO!" doesn't get old to me, lol.)

god eater anime turning out to be pretty awesome. i really like the animation style, and it's tons of explosions, shooting, slashing, stabbing, and generaly everything you'd expect from something based on the game. not much to say other than that though.

gakkou gurashi continues to be awesome. i never would have thought that a delusional girl and zombies would make such a good combination, but there it is. it's a pretty solid show, so if you like zombies i suggest you at least check it out.

dragon ball super really getting into the events of battle of the gods now. should pick up quite a bit within the next few episodes. i hope they don't change too much about that part. i really enjoyed battle of the gods.

i've been told to pick up gangsta, but haven't gotten around to it yet. i saw the first episode though, and that was decent enough. just haven't bothered to watch any more than that.

Alright, I haven't been updating lately like I usually do but here's what I'm watching and how I feel about the shows:

GATE
Classroom Crisis
Charlotte
Rokka no Yuusha
Gatchaman Crowds Insight
One Piece

In the order of above:

- Solid show with an interesting premise but doesn't get too exciting or too crazy... which is fine, it just kind of comes off as, well average, or slightly above average. Enjoyable to watch but nothing really impressive, I guess. Some of the jokes and such are kinda dumb I think, but I like it when it gets serious/a little dark, and I like seeing how it showcases the differences between cultures and such.

- A show that switches between serious and humorous/cute kinda, I like it but it doesn't do a great job at a lot of things... the main characters have some solid development and the premise is ok but it's not really all that deep, insightful, etc., and I guess it's not meant to be. It's just a cool show about a bunch of nerds in a classroom who double as workers trying to keep their classroom alive, but with some cool character backgrounds and stuff to make it interesting. And a bit of fan service and shallow character tropes and stuff. I guess it's just another "good" show.

- I didn't dig it too much at first, especially what with how it felt like it got a bit repetitive and wasn't progressing the overall plot much, but then it got really dark the last episode... like, wow, they actually went there and it felt pretty bad... I'm curious to see what they'll do with it at this point. I'm not a huge fan of the art style and some of the plot points and execution and such, it doesn't feel executed all that well to me, but whatever, I'm trying to enjoy it even though I don't think it's really my kind of show.

- An exceptional show that I find very interesting and thrilling though it occasionally drops here and there with some of the execution... but in general it's captivating, colorful, has great openings (that's right, it doesn't just have one opening), some good animation moments, cool characters, a story that's simple on the surface but more interesting later on, and more... so yeah, possibly my favorite show this season.

- Another exceptional show that is a sequel to the previous season. I was hesitant at first but it brought in some new plot points and it got very interesting, political, sociological, and just in general, "deep". It's provocative, it's insightful. It gets me thinking. I really dislike two of the main characters (Gelsadra and Tsubasa) for what I consider a combination of naiveté, ignorance, and straight-up stupidity, and I actually find myself kind of siding with or agreeing with the "villains" of the series, the people locked up and such, or at the very least just being really irritated at the main characters. The last episode finally got past the point of all the good that's happening from Gelsadra's and Tsubasa's work, so now I hope to see how it ends up backfiring and how things will turn out in the end. I'm not sure what's going to happen, but I think one thing is certain: change is on the horizon!

- It's actually getting pretty good now. The production values seem to be up compared to before (despite some really odd moments in the animation) and the more recent episodes are featuring Corazon, one of my better-liked characters in One Piece... and it just really saddens me to know that he dies (he's already dead in the present time)... and ughhh, to be honest, what happens is really depressing and if you think about the Dressrosa arc as a whole and how much pain and suffering was endured by so many people, it's just absolute madness, I can't even put it into words... One Piece covers it up with jokes and hope and smiles but it really is one of the more insightful, sad, and dark, but also hopeful series out there. :/

EDIT: another anime fan might shun me for this (idk), but a guy named Nick Creamer sometimes writes some decent analysis of shows, like Gatchaman Crowds (http://www.animenews...pisode-6/.91465). I sometimes read them to help me reflect on things and such, or just so I can at least get one other intelligently-written opinion (whether I agree with everything the writer says or not is a different matter, but just keeping all my thoughts jumbled up in my head all day is kinda meh).

I'm watching Charlotte, God Eater, Snow White with the Red Hair, Castletown Dandelion, Kuusen Madoushi, Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, Non Non Biyori Repeat, Overlord, and Working!!!

Charlotte is ok. I don't really care about any of the sad stuff in the show though. Was a little interesting to see how they depicted depression (answer: a lot more accurately than what most people's impressions of it is, including how it got cured) but it's difficult to care about him overall cause he's too relatable.

God Eater is great fun to look at. It has a surprisingly interesting story. Interesting for what it is, anyway.

Snow White with the Red Hair is one of those shows where I can't really pay that much attention to whatever's happening (outside of when Ryuu shows up) because it's mundane enough to not be engaging via action, but not enough to be a Slice of Life. It's supposedly written really well and stuff but its tone simply can't get me either excited or relaxed enough to find it engaging, and that's particularly because of how fucking distanced the prince and the MC is. it's reached a point where you really have to question whether they actually like each other or if they're just behaving the way they are because the writer says so. Sure, they "give each other space" like you're supposed to in a healthy relationship, but they barely feel like they interact. I think other characters are more interested in their relationship than they themselves are.

Dandelion has some level of novelty because royalty but I'm finding myself skipping a lot of it even though I only watch it while I'm eating(generally speaking this means that I normally don't pay enough attention to it as is.)

I'm watching Kuusen Madoushi exclusively for Kirito's voice and twintails. It's easily the most uninteresting show out of all of the ones I've watched to this extent for those reasons, but Kirito's voice and twintails are still good enough to keep me engaged. Even if I dislike the twintailed character. I skip every scene where they don't appear though.

YGO Arc-V is easily the most hyped of all the shows I'm watching at the moment but those reasons are entirely because of the potential it has for new cards rather than the plot. Not that the plot is bad (it's actually more interesting than everything else here if you stick around for it and have enough investment in the game as-is) but this show was meant to be a glorified advertisment for a reason.

Non Non Biyori is starting to become really hard to watch, and I say this when it's normally something I don't pay much attention to. It's supposed to be a relaxing show but is starting to make my head hurt, and I'm skipping more of it than usual. I don't know why, the substance of it hasn't really changed. I guess I'm just kind of action-starved with how most of the shows mentioned have very little of it.

Overlord is ok whenever it's doing something that doesn't involve female characters. When it does (and it isn't for genderless reasons) it starts getting into unwatchable territory. I've only got this far into it because MMOs though so it wouldn't be anything I recommend.

Working!!! has suddenly become significantly less interesting as a Slice of Life (I think part of it may be because they're actually trying to resolve some things, which gives it some kind of seriousness) and it's easily the least watched out of everything mentioned. I'm skipping entire episodes based on a few comments generally giving you an idea of what it'll be about, and only watch short segments in most of them. I've always been sick of watching Inami too.

That really just leaves Arc-V and God Eater for things that I actually look forward to watching. The other things are just for when I don't feel like doing anything because I'm tired and can't sleep, or when I'm eating.

I think a big part of why so many of the shows have become worse overtime is also because I recently watched/read all of Assassination Classroom (in like 2 days) which was extremely engaging due to me having tunnel vision for Shiota Nagisa when watching and now I'm impatient for season 2 (even though I've probably read everything it would have to animate.) A lot of stuff I want is set for 2016...

I believe in judgment of humans through their judgment of fiction, for nothing else tells better of their disposition freed from apprehension.

it's difficult to care because he's too relatable? guess I shouldn't ask

so anyway, Saturday anime + Toonami night (technically Sunday morning I guess), I don't feel like talking about Classroom Crisis and GATE since IIRC I talked about them on Twitter, but pretty much, GATE is very interesting to me and CC was good but both shows feel like they're still missing something in the execution... definitely more interested in GATE's cliffhanger since CC despite having some cool characters feels a bit rushed and... I dunno, I really can't explain it but something maybe in the overall plot or the general dynamic of the show is just... missing

moving on, there was... let me just quote Skype

[12:06:14 AM] ballin1337: also too much anime to watch. I need to catch up on what I missed of last week's Toonami as well as everything I missed today. all I watched was Gatchaman Crowds Insight (which was terrific as usual)*
[12:23:41 AM] ballin1337: what's with these weird names in DBZ
[12:23:47 AM] ballin1337: Tianzhen, something ken?
[12:24:22 AM] ballin1337: I thought it was DESTRUCTO DISC and SOLAR FLARE
[12:34:26 AM] ballin1337: uh what this Akame ga Kill** opening doesn't sound like an actual AkG opening
[12:34:33 AM] ballin1337: was that just a generic replacement opening? O_o

*Gatchaman was great, not quite how I expected but I digged it, but at the same time I am just so absolutely sick of Tsubasa and Gel and whatnot I really want them to suffer horribly and I can't hold it back, ughhh, please someone smack some sense into these people they are like the epitome of evil to me and it's so twisted and udhoiasdoiaispodas and the worst thing is that people can and have tried to do this in real life, like, in general, in various ways, trying to stop independent thought, make people think or act the same, make people conform... ughhh adsoiasduaiousd >___< AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH STUPID TSUBASA SOMEONE STAB HER AND SHOW HER THE CRUEL REALITY OF THE WORLD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

...

ahem

ok

I'm done being violent but really she pisses me off more than most villains do, and she's supposed to be the good/righteous main character

>__>

**Dub was ok, fight animation for the Akame vs. Zank or whatever fight was good which is the main reason I watched it. in fact I don't even know if there are any more enjoyable fights left for me so maybe I'll just stop watching, the quality of the show is probably going to tank in like 10 episodes anyway <_<; (yes I've watched it before but I'm humoring the dub anyway)

[1:57:26 AM] ballin1337: ._. Mother's Rosario still one of my fave archs. anyone who thinks Kirito is stronger than Yuuki is dumb. it was proven multiple times Yuuki is better. get over it punks *shot*
[1:58:14 AM] ballin1337: ok, Naruto, a great episode of One Piece, and... idk about AoT but probably awesome, but I'm going to procrastinate watching [editor's note: I'm not watching any of these tonight, I'll do it some other time. they're just dubs of shows I've already seen and it airs at like 2am so meh]
[2:08:45 AM] ballin1337: that was close to like, the most plot twists in one episode ever... and it wasn't bad and I totally want to know what happens next
[2:08:49 AM] ballin1337: THEORIEEEES

wow that episode tho, and in general all the shows I've been watching have kinda been picking up in their own ways... not bad... I dig having some decent anime to watch, y'know

next I've gotta watch Rokka and I'm caught up with everything airing except the Toonami dubs and 2 episodes of One Piece (sorry, I just really, REALLY cannot handle Corazon's death in One Piece and am not mentally ready for it so I'm going to procrastinate that for a bit...)

actually, I missed some episodes of One Piece from earlier due to not watching for quite a while but idk if I'll ever catch up on those... maybe... they're kinda boring esp. at the pace the anime goes, so meh... >_>; we'll see...

EDIT: By the way i didn't just ignore your post, Merc

I'm watching Kuusen Madoushi exclusively for Kirito's voice and twintails. It's easily the most uninteresting show out of all of the ones I've watched to this extent for those reasons, but Kirito's voice and twintails are still good enough to keep me engaged. Even if I dislike the twintailed character. I skip every scene where they don't appear though.

Hope you don't take this the wrong way but I find this kinda funny/very much like you, hahaha.

Non-Non Biyori is one of those shows you're supposed to turn off your brain while you watch, I think, so eh

action shows... Rokka has some action, Gatchaman hasn't because LOL politics/plot/story took the reigns on that one, and... Charlotte... no... uh... dang... where is the action. Classroom Crisis? nope... it's kinda sad when GATE and One Piece are your best bets at getting some combat and whatnot, lol. With a bit of combat from Rokka, but the animation quality on that is a bit... uh, shaky, I guess... XP

I tried to watch the first episode of Rokka no Yuusha back when it was the only one, but I can't really tell why people hyped it so much. I didn't find anything particularly surprising about its presentation, the only thing that really stuck out was the setting's aesthetic due to the rarity of its appearance. (On the subject of rare aesthetics, I still find it really strange how One Piece practically has a monopoly on pirate anime.)

He's been super relatable since episode 1, where he takes over the body of a truck driver in order to cause a car crash which leads him to being able to score the girl that he has the hots for. (Oh, and the cheating on tests.) The way how he disregards any harm he could have caused others, is abusive of his power even though it isn't actually that significant whenever he can make good use of it, looks at his to-be-girlfriend as little more than a trophy because he can't really care about her as a person, is totally into using violence to solve problems, and only really thinks positively of a certain close individual. Even in how quickly he stopped his bad behavior, simply because it became inconvenient to continue. The only part that surprised me was in to the extent of which he could abuse his power given how limited it seemed. Tell me to make a self-insert in that universe and you'll more or less get him, with the most striking difference probably being in how I wouldn't really be proud of my success.

In almost every situation where I will find a character significantly relatable, it will definitely be for some wretched reason. Because fiction is largely escapism for me, seeing it get closer to reality will only make me less interested, outside of when it's for humorous purposes. When you don't like yourself, I can't think of many reasons to like someone else that is similar.

I've actually watched very few shows because of both Kirito's voice and twintails. Kuusen Madoushi, Absolute Duo, and DanMachi are the only ones, going from "why do they fund this" crap, to "ok this is kind of decent and sweet but I question how engaging it would be without kirito's voice", to "OMIGOSH IT'S BELL-KUN!!! NO WAIT, NO. NO, GET THE FUCK OFF HIM YOU SKANK, THESE BITCH-ASSED HOES TRYIN' TO SCREW OVER MY SWEET LITTLE ANGEL WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE?? YEAH GET REKT HAHAHAHA DAMN STRAIGHT IT SERVES YOU RIGHT, DIE, DIE FUCKER DI- Wait is that Bell entering the scene? Oh you're such a dashing little cutie<3<3 but please don't hang out with those shady kinds of girls ok? Who knows what they'll do to you..."

Out of the three, only one of them has a twintailed character that I actually liked. (On that note, I did not watch Sword Art Online for twintails either, surprisingly enough. I don't know what it is about Silica that makes her so hard to care about.) I don't want to watch any of the ones where the protagonist has a more sexually active mind because ew and because part of the charm of Kirito's voice is in the mysterious childlike impression it makes, which forms a highly disturbing dissonance when he's voicing the more WHOREMONEZ-inclined teenagers.

That said I just learned that Titus Alexius is apparently voiced by him and I don't actually know why I wasn't watching Magi S2 before (I mean I had already read the manga but still) so I guess I'll go look at that for some more shonen action stuff.

I think it's actually a pretty niche show. as to why it's liked, you'd probably have to watch a few more shows for that. Overall, I think it's just colorful and has some nice fantasy/action and kind of... gets right into it? so I mean, it fills in a gap that a lot of shows aren't right now. it's actually kind of more of a mystery/thriller with a fantasy setting. I also like the character designs and it has some good action scenes and a sense of "I want to see what X person's power is like", which can be pretty interesting. but despite all that, it's probably been overhyped, yeah, I mean... that's just how anime fans are >_> almost never is a show as amazing as people's comments make it seem :\

all I can really say is, Silica is a really lame and forgettable character, IMO

like, she's just this young girl that isn't even that cute, has no notable or memorable traits, her only thing is she has that pet Pina or whatever... she's not that smart, not a great fighter, not very funny, not a very deep or dynamic character... there's just like, really nothing going for her, IMO. she's probably my least favorite character of the main characters, with Lisbeth being 2nd least favorite. I like Kirito's FIGHTS but as a character, he's average at best. I like Asuna, and Sinon is... sometimes cool, and sometimes dumb... ehh, honestly, SAO doesn't really have strong characters, does it? lol. I like Yuuki, Asuna, Klein, and Egil, but none of them are excellent characters I really like, it's more of a casual like. and in that regard, you might as well add Kirito; I do think him being OP is hilarious, in the same way that I think Tatsuya being OP is hilarious, so =P

I accidentally killed my whole day watching Magi S2(the episodes that involved Titus anyway.) X: I learned that Kirito's voice isn't quite as effective when I already have preconceptions about the character though. I mean it still sounds amazing but it doesn't feel as natural due to expectations...

Two more chapters of Assassination Classroom were released and...it seems to be another case of either the author getting sick of it(doubt it) or marketing reasons causing a rushed ending. This is particularly dissonant because they basically did almost everything they would seem like they wanted to do, so I figured the SPACE thing would be just one big hype finisher, but instead we got another case of ending at a fizzle. It's not said to be completed yet but I really can't see anything else important to do.
