It's the same voice actor. No one else can come close. It's just that even this voice actor (who is notorious for having a rather narrow voice range) has a different performance for other characters, like how different Sorata in Sakurasou feels from Kirito. In this case, they're not even trying to make it sound less Kirito.

I believe in judgment of humans through their judgment of fiction, for nothing else tells better of their disposition freed from apprehension.

oh wow Sorata is also voiced by Kirito, didn't know that (TPGoS was one of my faves despite some major flaws here and there until the awful ending)

err anyway wow that's probably worth at least watching one episode of just for the lulz lol

What were said major flaws?

I didn't really find the ending out of place or anything that seemed like a drop in quality from the rest. I mean I didn't care for it either but still.

I just hated the ending in general

I also found out what happens in the LN or whatever and that kinda pissed me off more lol

it's been a while so I can't really remember details

as for the flaws they're not really flaws more like stuff I just didn't like here and there

sorry, TGPoS is one show where I got irrationally upset at the ending and it clouded my perspective on everything related to the point that I can't even articulate on why I dislike it anymore

however I will say that I shipped Sorata x Nanami and that was definitely a big part of it--and I RARELY ever get involved in shipping but I actually took TGPoS's relationships seriously and I preferred the more functional, kind, etc. relationship with Nanami over the dysfunctional, short-lived, conflict-full one with Mashiro

the post-anime ending pretty much confirms that Sorata's just a stupid kid and though it's not a harem show he's practically like the lead in a harem anime, super dense, super stupid, etc.

had I not cared/not taken it seriously I'd have been fine but I actually was deeply touched by the plot esp. at that time due to the things I was going through and the fact that I could relate to Sorata's struggles a lot. so I couldn't help but be disappointed that the dysfunctional relationship was chosen over the other one, even if it was, in retrospect, obviously meant to be for Sorata x Mashiro to be together. (also it was one of my first anime so I didn't understand things like predicting who would get with who or anything, I didn't hate Mashiro, I just wanted everyone to be happy and for the most logical things in my mind to happen; little did I know that the girl the MC has known for ages or w/e will almost always get friend-zoned [indirectly or otherwise] and the new girl/transfer/whatever will almost always be the one the MC gets with)

tl;dr don't mind me I was just going through a phase of silliness and I'm the one really at fault, not the show. I'm mostly over it but sadly I can't look back on that show fondly because being emotionally invested also means risking being hurt when things don't turn out the way one would like and in that case for me it didn't

I can't even think of another time I was actually invested into a romance where there's multiple potential pairings because usually they're so shallow or predictable I just can't really care (or if I do care it's just sort of casually caring, like I wouldn't necessarily be butt-hurt or whatever)

... yeah hmm I don't really watch shows for that so I really can't think of anything else, I was naive back then and now I still am but less so, it would take another really interesting and relatable* set of characters for me to care and even then I might try not to if I feel like the ending would be stupid or whatever (like I said back then I didn't understand that there was no way Sorata and Nanami were getting together), there are some cool relationships (for instance Horimiya and Blue Spring Ride, two manga) but I'm careful not to take anything with a really typical dense anime character lead seriously in the least

*not a word, but whatever

sorry ended up rambling idk I'm in a weird mood, I blame cookies

The reason for the latter is because it's considered more interesting and is thus better quality writing. It's also somewhat more realistic because of the emotional investment Sorata's had to give Mashiro, whereas Nanami is that girl who can mostly take care of herself. (This is also part of why being an asshole to women tends to bring success, they care more about you because they get pissed off, and if you subtly try being nicer from time to time it makes them feel like they can make a difference in you. Abusive relationships aren't romanticized purely based on fantasy.)

Also you're totally gonna hate Absolute Duo then cause the MC ditches the bro code in favor of some western girl he barely knows anything about by the second episode LOL

I know why Mashiro was picked, I'm not dumb

QUOTE
it's considered more interesting

that is just an opinion though (whether it's widely-accepted or not), meaning people can have dissenting opinions and like functional relationships more (cough Horimiya) and still think it's interesting or good writing

QUOTE
somewhat more realistic

I don't need realism in anime, an anime being realistic is not an asset or anything. I also don't agree about Nanami

...

your parentheses is "preaching to the choir" as the phrase goes, not sure why you're telling me this, I'm well aware nice guys finish last

QUOTE
you're totally gonna hate

no I wouldn't, hating takes way too much effort, and I wouldn't care enough about some random show to hate it, I thought I made it clear that when I watched TPGoS it was a long time ago, I was emotionally unstable, and I didn't understand how anime worked, meaning most of it is irrelevant and if you're using that as a basis to judge what I might like or not like, you're making a big mistake

based on your response I feel like you didn't actually read or at least comprehend anything I said or else you're just talking to yourself and in the case of that last line, joking

on a side note I didn't like how........ nvm

Finally am allowed to start Fafner: Exodus.

It's quite good as far as I'm allowed to say one episode in. Stunning stills and pacing isn't describable as "slow as snails". The first 5 minutes were very intense and I hope they can have amazing battle scenes when they come into play...though obvious CGI is still obvious. Still love it though.

And I get to see Canon Memphis again. That's a win within and of itself. [/fanboy]

Baker's dozen anime (13 episodes) but I'm hoping the compressed timeframe allows it to not grind down like the fist season.

The Rolling Girls seems to be pretty good so far, a bit nonsensical (actually reminds me of Kill la Kill) but I'm liking it, it seems like a quality but weird show (well, weirder than normal, given how anime tend to be...)

Also, Death Parade is supposed to be pretty good, has anyone watched it? It's supposedly dark and well, I always hesitate about those since if it's just pure despair, it can get a bit much, haha. (Says the guy who played both Danganronpa's and liked them... Idk, I'm weird.)

Btw Kirant...

Seiken tsukai no world break is pretty good. Right along the lines of absolute duo, but with reincarnation. And I smell a harem to come.

Still only watching Fafner: Exodus.

But at the same time...that's enough. I mean, I'm just glad I can see one of the more interesting anime I've seen actually try to continue its story. Technobabble aside, I love its progression from season to movie to season...it's insane amounts of fun seeing the characters grow over that length of time...something few anime that I enjoy actually get the time to do.

did I mention Rolling Girls

a bit shaky here and there but I have officially picked it up in my mind. I think it's very unique, artistically stylized in an awesome and beautiful way, and has some good character/plot development along with a little action... in short, it's got a bit going for it and is a rather enjoyable show overall, and I like it.

As the title implies, there are a lot of girls, but I can't remember a single scene of fan service yet: it's a little cute, but not in the way like, Nichijou or something is. the problems are actually somewhat serious, there's an actual plot, actual mysteries, and when there are action scenes, they are AWESOME, animated beautifully, but unique like how Kill la Kill is (not the same exact style, but it has that same sense of awe and non-traditional way of handling it).

tl;dr it's hard to explain but the show is charming so if you're looking for something else to pick up, I suggest it. as a warning, episode 2 and even 3 might make you wonder what this show is really trying to do and you might think it'll disappoint, but I'd actually give the show until episode 4 before you drop it. I'd say episode 1/2 build for 3/4 and episode 3 in general is a transition episode, with episode 1 and 4 being highlights so far... or something, so yeah, def. at least go 'till chapter 4, is my recommendation, to anyone who is looking for recommendations. AKA probably no one but whatever
