The outline needs work, a lot. They aren't well-made in general, being a little rigid and all, and the outline makes things seem a little...lopsided. :\ I know I'm not being very good at telling you details but if you need to I can circle things or fix it myself to show you what I mean.

Well... I suck at it... but here's the rough draft of my first attempt...

It's mainly based on the Swordmaster and Lyn... Still haven't finished the return to standing (as well as the critical)

The one with armor adds a bit more to it then simply having Karel's body. I'd go with that. All preference though. Go with whatever.

and um..wow, an other karel base. Interesting... Fix up the skin tone, there are alot of inconsistencies i can see. Make it all use one.

Not really, all you did was remove the background.

I think a different head/face would fit better with that hair because of the angle the current head is in

I commented on your video. It looks pretty good but the Trueblade animation in the video has a steeper angle in the 2nd-to-last movement than the angle in the 2nd-to-last movement of the sprite. Watch the video and pause constantly and compare, that'll help.

Well, here's my first ever attempt at a face sprite. It's just a splice, but I'm pretty proud of it considering it's my first attempt. Still, constructive criticism is always accepted.
