When it comes to general, Amelia outclasses Guillam in every stat except Defence-the critical stat for a general and hp. I'm training them right now so I'll get a comparison soon.

Yeah, but as much as I like Amelia as a general, she's most likely better as a mounted unit.

lol @ Amelia > Gilliam

Gilliam vs. Amelia is a joke.

Gilliam comes at LvL 4/0 in Ch 1. Amelia basically joins in Ch 10 on Ephraim Route, and halfway through the chapter in Ch 10 on Eirika Route. Gilliam's LvL by now? Something like 10/0 or something, I guess?

10/0 Gilliam
30 HP
12 Str
8 Skl
5 Spd
5 Luc
12 Def
4 Res
14 Con

1/0/0 Amelia
16 HP
4 Str
3 Skl
4 Spd
6 Luc
2 Def
3 Res
6 Con

Gilliam w/ Steel: 22 Atk, 5 AS
Amelia w/ Iron: 11 Atk, 2 AS
Amelia w/ Slim: 8 Atk, 4 AS

Haha... hahahahahahahahahaha...

Owned hard.

20/1 GK Gilliam
42 HP
18 Str
13 Skl
10 Spd
8 Luc
20 Def
7 Res
14 Con

10/15/0 Cavalier Amelia
31 HP
12 Str
14 Skl
15 Spd
18 Luc
9 Def
8 Res
9 Con

Gilliam w/ Steel Lance: 28 Atk, 10 AS
Amelia w/ Steel Lance: 22 Atk, 11 AS

Gilliam is a lot more durable and has better offense too, thanks to higher Atk and full weapon triangle control. Oh yeah, and this is with being incredibly generous to Amelia, because Amelia definitely isn't going to hit LvL 10/15/0 when Gilliam promotes. That would be her gaining like 5 levels per chapter where Gilliam gains a bit less than 2. Epic lolz at that.

Also, in order for Amelia to do anything early on, she needs a lot of "special treatment" as I like to call it, reducing the team's efficiency a lot.

Gilliam >>> Amelia

Yes, but at both max, Amelia is much better. Although that has no relevance I guess when it comes to just a single playthrough (no CC or anything).

Assuming no CC, Gilliam is indeed better because neither are even going to be close to reaching their level cap. Gilliam might be LvL 20/10 or something, perhaps, while Amelia might not even reach a second promotion.

20/10 Gilliam vs. ~10/18/0 Amelia... Hmm, I wonder who would win that.

Yes, when you think about it like that Gilliam is better, but with enough effort Amelia can be better-- but adding personal experience (RNG) to it won't work and neither will clearly putting more emphasis on one unit than the other (even the worst character leveled up 20 levels is better than a character not leveled up 20 levels... usually...)

The fact that Amelia needs more kills than others to become better than Gilliam (which I assume you meant when you said "putting emphasis on") doesn't support Amelia's case at all. If anything, it's a positive for Gilliam.

I know, but I was just saying. I'd take Amelia as a cav -> Paladin and Gilliam as a Knight -> General and get the best of both worlds. Or ditch Amelia and just use Seth. He's all you need.

xD, I was saying that emphasis = putting a lot of training and work into raising a specific character, so emphasis on Amelia would need to be made for her to be statistically as good as or better than Gilliam. :\

Why would you make Gilliam a General? Great Knight gives him one more movement to be able to keep up with the main team, and full weapon triangle control. General gives him a useless skill, since he isn't dying anyway.

I think it's mainly due to the fact that I just hammer 'A' without looking. And that he seems to be more of a general to me...but yeah, great knight is a better choice.

Only because I want one of every unit, no matter how bad they are... tongue.gif
The other candidate is Amelia... and I'm NOT making her a KNIGHT...

Yes. And even moreso because the majority of the best units in the game are mounted. Seth, Franz, Vanessa, Cormag, Duessel, Eirika, Ephraim... All mounted, and I'm sure there are some other pretty damn awesome units that are also mounted, so their low movement is definitely a major drawback.

Hmm, FE4 comes to mind when I start thinking of mounted units and other low movement units (people who have played FE4 should know why).

It was a rhetorical question >_>

But still, something always makes me want to have a general, despite the lack of movement.
