Personality:A bit naive and headstrong, Orbus is generally foul-mouthed and rather arrogant of his abilities. To almost all save for his mercenary group, he is virtually unable to cooperate with due to his constant opposing manner. He has a great hatred for "weaklings", valuing strength above anything else other than his pay. Around women, he is often flirtatious and promiscuous, usually intoxicated in addition to the mix. Orbus' mercenary career as a leader is gauged by a customer's pay; he only accepts payment for one task at a time, and will gladly abandon it if another higher-paying recipient approaches him. His mercenary service, however, is regionally sought by many across Verus. He sees no issue with killing people and seems unaffected by it, given the environment that he grew up in. His cynical attitude is outspoken by his cool and tempered appearance.
Biography:Orbus Kristov is currently known as the only surviving child of Ovius Kristov, being his youngest son out of twelve total children. He only recalls being born aboard a galleon ship with no memory of his mother in the middle of the Penumbra, growing up in territory owned by Narcissus that would become Magna Carte in the future for the first two years of his life. His family fled to Sienna after being persecuted as illegal aliens by the then-Narcissus government, with his father suddenly disappearing afterwards and leaving him under the care of his older siblings. Due to Sienna's harsh weather and the family being very poor at the time, his older siblings worked as mercenaries to help provide for them while they slowly succumbed to illness over the next year. Orbus, suffering from starvation and the same plague that killed his kin, was found by a caravan after collapsing in the raging blizzard. He'd be synonymously rescued and cared for by the merchant caravan for the next two years, constantly surrounded by the ensuing violence of the Penumbra as they moved through Verus. While en route to Crepusculum, the caravan was seized by the Valens Army and under an order from their leader, they were to accompany them to store and share their equipment and provisions. Orbus, shocked, instantly recognized the man who'd given the order as his father. Expecting a warm reunion, all he received was a look of disappointment and grim welcome by Ovius' personal guards.
Under the jurisdiction that something wasn't right about his father and the Valens with the addition of his initial disdain for abandoning the family, Orbus saw an opportunity to escape from the convoy after setting camp by an abandoned fortress and did so with the help of a merchant in the caravan. He entered the fortress in hopes of not being detected, but was found by a feared bandit group who seized the abandoned fortress and declared it their territory. The bandit leader spared the four-year old's life after witnessing the boy manage to disarm one of the brigands and wield the weapon against them, seeing potential. Over the next fourteen years, Orbus was raised by the bandit group and began joining in on their raids at the age of twelve. After returning from a typical day of pillaging, they had taken a number of women as their prisoner and intended to use them as their "toys" before killing them. Orbus, not knowing right from wrong, was initially going to partake in the act as his full initiation into the bandit group, but he struck a conversation with a prisoner his age and realized the crime. He sneaked into the group's makeshift armory while they were sorting out the prisoners, and stole one of the poison-coated weapons. He returned to the group's keg of mead, dipping the blade of the weapon and mixing the poison into it.
Orbus watched while the bandit group slowly felt the symptoms of the poison kick in, taking one of their axes and beginning to free the prisoners by cutting the rope that bounded their hands and feet. By the time that the group noticed the betrayal, many of the prisoners had already begun to descend from the mountain while a number of the bandits succumbed to the poison. Still, they went after him with their weapons drawn. Orbus freed the girl he'd spoken to earlier, defending her escape while they ran away from the fortress with the bandits in tow. Unfortunately, in the adrenaline rush, he failed and the girl was killed by an archer's arrow. Orbus dropped his weapon and fled the scene, aware that he was outnumbered and would only throw away his life. He ran for the entire day until he collapsed from exhaustion near the southern Zephyr town of Teno.
Prior to these events, Orbus never spoke about it again. Upon waking up in Teno, however, he was instantly recognized as a child of one of the three Valen leaders because of his unique purple eye color; a trait that seemed exclusive to the three. He lived the rest of his life taking a mercenary career, essentially rising into more fame after forming his own group and routing the same bandit group from before.
