I'll put the next part up asap.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter One: The SellSwords
Part Three: Undiscovered Powers
------------------------------------------------------------------
'Nother Note - If I make a typo/spelling error when a character is talking, 90% of those are because that is how said character pronounces said word.
"Nng...Gr..." Matt clanked his blade against the man's repeatedly; Matt's blood was splattered all through his hair, and spread on his clothes, and his lips were bleeding from a direct punch from the man's gauntlets that had just landed. You could not even tell that Matt had black hair if you were to behold the fight going on, but the man would not stop fighting; he was clearly killing himself, and would die if he continued much longer. The city streets were long abandoned, and the few trees that had been planted along the pavement had depression written on them; Yes, even the trees looked saddened by the duel that was occurring.
"You're...not bad, kid." The older man held out Two Long, curved scimitars and crashed them against Matt's blade over and over, but he appeared to be playing; not even fighting, just toying with his opponent. Looking at him, he appeared to be an assassin from the eastern lands of Yiern, Kyin, and Likein, which were homes of Melkalin and human assassins, although his fighting style was much closer to the knights of Jia. He quickly stabbed Matt in the leg, and punched him to the ground.
"Nng...Ou...Urgh...!" Matt's hair was redder still, and the chain link sleeves he wore were busted in parts, and the rest were very bloodied. "You're better...Th-Th-Tho-Though." The Sellsword then, quick as a whip, threw a dagger into the man's heel, and stood up slowly. "B-But I-I'm Sm-Sm-Smarter..." He was clearly struggling, simply to speak; he calmly and slowly waved his hand through his hair, pushing it out of his eyes.
"Damn..." The man, who was quite obviously an assassin, based simply on his reaction, was also a certain degree of pissed off. "Now, Mercenry, you die." The assassin raised his blades and swung them at Matt's head violently.
"NO!" Endu stood forward and raised his right hand towards the assassin, and raised his sword above and behind his head with his left hand; then he said something that Sierra and the assassin could not understand; it was in the language of Arch-Xeiins, and as soon as he said it, a ball of lightning the size of a brick house enveloped the assassin.
Mathew looked at Sierra first, then the crisp body of the assassin, then finally to the boy. "...Lightning, assist me. I believe it was a powerful form of sword-singing; possibly a powerful form of elekenten magic." Then he stopped and thought to himself, It couldn't have been a weak form of Xeeinian magic...Could it? That would mean he's related to a Xeiin...Hmm. "But if it was sword-singing, it was the most powerful I've ever seen." Matt lifted his hand up, and held his sword towards the corpse with his other hand, and shot a blast of lightning upon it; maybe half the energy of Endu's blast, if that.
"So, where do we go next?" Endu said, with a slight frown, as he brushed his long hair out of his eyes, and got his weapons and armor lifted over his shoulder.
"I'm gonna buy a new tent. I guess Endu and I'll take the big one, he and I can each have our own side of it, and Sierra'll have the other..Then I'm gonna buy three horses...And I want to talk to my old friends who live around this area..."

Matt went to find someplace to heal, or get medical attention after the deadly duel with the assassin, due to the fact that he does not know any adequate heal magic. He entrusted Endu with the silver he earned from the king, to buy a new tent and three horses. All he
said was that he wanted a white horse, and they could pick their owns. So then they split up, as agreed, and decided to meet up at the Hermit, El'Rich's cabin, which Matt had given Endu a map to. Matt went to the hospital, and it was pretty much a typical hospital of
Janger. A tent that stood about fifty feet high, and thirty feet wide. People were laying about on the floor, sick, dying, and hurt. Matt muttered to himself, something about the awful state of the hospital. "...I'd be better off trying to seek healing from a prostitute."
He said to himself as he sat down on a chair. Then he waited for a few minutes, while he tried to stop his own bleeding. Then a man wearing a sleeveless white robe came and called O'Connell into a separate compartment of the tent. The man had a weird-looking comb-over, and a small beard. He stopped the bleeding by putting some weird looking weed on his wounds, and then wrapping him up in a long bandage. Matt asked what the weed was, and the man told him it was Kelain, and could be found growing around most forest or mountain trails. Matt nodded and made a mental note of that, so he could remember it in the future.
Endu bought a white horse for Matt, a black one for Sierra, and a brown one for himself. He also bought a large tent, and used the rest of the silver to buy some food. Endu decided he needed to go get his arm checked up on now. It was hurting. He walked into the tent, but Matt was already long gone. The man then called Endu into the compartment Matt was treated in, and used the same kind of weed on the wound the archer gave him, as Matt's temporary fix was wearing off. While Endu walked and Sierra rode, the boy tried to see if he could control the powers he had unleashed earlier. He muttered a word that sounded like "Brier" Or something like that, but he really had no idea what he was saying. When he said it, a tidal wave flew out of his hands and soaked Sierra, who was in front of him, and the rest of the forest. "Uh... Note to self: Brier is a bad word to say while trying to focus my powers," He half-mumbled. Then, added, "Unless Sierra is in a bad mood. In which case, it's just really funny."
Sierra's face got red and she started shouting at Endu, so quickly and loudly that her words were soon indiscernible. "YOU STUPID IDIOT, I HATE--" Then it was too hard to decipher what she was saying.
Endu decided not to try out any words he didn't know, because he didn't want to set Sierra on fire--yet. He just tried to remember the word he had used on the assassin, but he couldn't recall. 'Did Matt know that language? Because I think he did, from his reaction. So he can teach me maybe.' The boy thought to himself as he quickly hopped atop his horse and rode swiftly ahead of Sierra, trying to outrun her screams so he could think clearly. "Better." He muttered to himself once Sierra was out of sight--and hearing range too. "Now, Matt said it means 'lightning, assist me' so I would assume it's Elekentan like he
said... Seeing as that is how they say things like that. But I don't know their language. This hermit,
El'Rich should though, I think..."
--- Matt ---
Matt, knowing the terrain very well, had already made it to El'Rich's cabin via shortcut. El'Rich was a friendly looking man, with a short beard, and long hair, despite his old age, his hair was basically
just straight, and white, going down to his shoulders or so. The old man wore a long leather coat, which reached his knees, and steel boots that reached the bottom of his knees, so not a single patch of skin,
aside from his face, was revealed.
A young girl, about sixteen, was sitting on the floor of the cabin, with a bunch of papers spread about, which she was swiftly filling up with words in a language Matt did not understand. Her brown hair reached her ribcage, and she had a pink dress on, with no shoes.
She made swift strokes with an ink pen, and, even though Matt hadn't the faintest what the words said, he had to appreciate the beauty of her handwriting. He also couldn't help but notice her handwriting was
not the only beautiful thing about her. "...Who's the kid?" Matt asked quietly, in his oh-so famous voice. He couldn't help it, but still, he had became famous for the way his voice sounded. It was sort of raspy,
but not so much so that it was unusual. Unusually quiet, and gruff.
"What kid?" El'Rich asked obliviously.
"...The one... On the floor?" Matt replied, with a hint of annoyance in his tone.
"Oh, you mean my daughter!"The old man reacted as if there was nothing unusual about a man who was at least seventy having a sixteen year old daughter.
"...I'm sorry I asked." Matt responded in disgust.
"What? Is something odd about that?" El'Rich pursued the subject.
"...Forget about it." Matt tried to end it, because he was clearly disgusted. "...But... Who is the mother?" El'Rich paused, then said, "I don't know."
Matt sighed started to walk away again.
"She is a good girl, a little disobedient on some subjects, and she sort of runs out of the house a lot." El'Rich sighed.
"Sounds like she needs-- Hey." Matt started to say something, but he was cut off by himself when he saw Endu approaching. "--This is the kid I mentioned before, El'Rich and-- What's her name?" Matt stopped again, and waited for the hermit's answer. "Kayla." Was all the man said.
"..." Matt paused as though the old man had said something wrong. "..." He stayed in his pause, and looked lost in thought. Then he snapped out of it and said, "Endu, Sierra, meet El'Rich and...Kayla."
"Howdy." The old man nodded in the two kids' direction.
"Hi! Kayla is Kayla! Pleased to meet you!" For some reason the girl was speaking in third person, but they paid it no mind.
"Hey." Endu said cautiously, but Sierra remained silent.
'The one time I want her to talk she won't. I usually can't get her to shut up' Matt thought to himself.
"Does she always--?" Matt started.
"Yes" El'Rich interrupted.
"Why does this one not speak? Is this one mute?"Kayla buzzed around Sierra like a bee.
"I Do not WISH to speak!" Sierra shouted with displeasure.
"Oh, calm the hell down!" Matt attempted to mediate.
"NO!" Sierra got angry quickly. "...Why, God?" Matt demanded, although
he knew he would get no direct answer."Why the hell do you put me with people like this?" Matt received no answer, as expected.
"Because my father told you to guard me, and you accepted. Your dumb mistake." Sierra said flatly. "Why you little--!" Matt shouted for the first time in ten years, but he was interrupted.
"You can do whatever you want to me, but you'll have a price to pay." Sierra said, flatly again.
"Beating you bloody seems about worth my life now, so shut it." Matt said curtly.
Sierra quickly shut up, knowing he was serious.
"...Who would take your life anyway?" El'Rich looked at Matt, puzzled.
"I'm not God, hermit, and I'm not a soldier anymore. I'm just a mercenary now, and I'm not too good at that either anymore."
"I think you're still strong." The hermit assured.
"I was almost killed by an assassin of Likein."
El'Rich had no response for what Matt had just said. He was shocked.
"See? I couldn't take Baron Marnid's guards...Not all of them anyway." Matt paused, then added, "Unless, of course, wonder boy here has any other tricks up his sleeve I had no idea about." The captain jerked his head towards Endu.
"Hm? What do you mean?" Questioned El'Rich.
"He shot some powerful beam of lightning out of his hand, and spoke the Elekentan word 'Meyot,' and fried the assassin"
'Meyot! So that's what I said...' Endu thought to himself.
"Sword singing?" El'Rich pondered.
Matt responded with, "I don't think so. It was a lot more powerful than my sword-singing, and I've had a lot more experience than him. But it might just be natural talent."
"Kayla's going for a walk." Kayla announced.
"Okay, honey." El'Rich responded.
Matt looked as though he were lost in thought for a short moment, then said, "Endu, go with her."
Endu did so, and they were soon out of sight.
"So, I think it was Elekentan or Xeiinian, but the latter would mean he has the blood of a Xeiin running in his
veins." Matt added once they were gone.
"Who is the boy's father?" El'Rich asked, without thinking much at all.
"I don't freaking know. He was an orphan, I guess."
"So where are we going?" Endu looked around. He did not recognize this area.
"Kayla's walkin' in the woods!" She exclaimed.
"I can see that." Endu responded.
"Then why you ask?"
"... I sort of meant, where are we headed?" Endu re-iterated.
"Silly boy, Kayla likes the woods! Nowhere special!"
".. Alright." Endu tried to keep up with the lightning quick girl.
--- Three Hours Later ---
"Endu, welcome back." Matt greeted as the two kids walked up.
"Who is this?" Endu asked cautiously, pointing at a bulky man with red hair, and a pretty woman with blonde hair, wearing the armor of a soldier of Jea.
"These are our next employers." Matt responded.
"Who are these mercenaries?" the blonde girl asked her superior.
"This is Matthew O'Connell and his band. Matt would be useful if you got in a sparring match with a bear, from what I hear. The kid here, Endu, has some magical abilities, I hear, and he isn't bad with a sword." The Lieutenant responded.
"And the girl?" The female soldier asked again.
"She... I don't really know." The officer responded. Then, added, "But, the old guy and his daughter are new additions, I guess."
"What do you want, soldiers? I don't have all day, and I don't have no silver either." Matt said curtly.
"I want you to go to an encampment run by General Dain. Free the slaves." The man barked.
"You do realize General Dain is rumored to be able to kill a dozen men with a swoop of his hand, right?!" Matt said curtly, again.
"I know you bested him before, so don't start your lazy bull with me." The man demanded angrily.
"Jeez, jeez, okay!" Matt lifted his sword, pointed the tip at the soldier, and re-sheathed it. "We'll get 'r done."
--- The next Day - At the camp ---
"Let me take Dain, guys. I know his ways of fighting, and I can take him." Matt ordered.
"But--" Sierra started. "No, dammit! I take him, you free slaves!" 'Jeez, it's a good thing Sierra is obedient at least.' Matt thought to himself.
"Matt..." Endu started.
"Don't you start too, damn it. I can take Dain, and he'd just hurt you guys, so free the prisoners."
"Another exciting mission..." Sierra sighed.
"You think I Fight for excitement? Killing is fun to you?" Matt demanded, but received no answer.
---
Matt started to walk up the winding stairs of the dark tower located in the center of the prison. Creak. He walked up the next step. Creeeak. "Damn, did he make them this way intentionally?" Matt muttered, then took another step. Creak. Matt stepped as cautiously as he could. Creak. "Dain will know I'm here in three steps at this rate..." Creak. Only five more steps... "..." Matt stepped over all five of them carefully. No creaks. "Time to die, Dain." Matt muttered to himself as he approached the door. Matt reached the door to the room he expected to find Dain in. He slowly put his hand on the knob... "What the--?" The door didn't open, despite Matt's pushes. "Alright... It's time to open this thing. Play time's over." Matt shot a bolt of lightning out of his hand and broke the door open.
"Welcome, Matthew Vale Holareth!" The general stood up and looked at Matt as though they were friends... Rather, a look a brother would give another brother.
"Holareth is... a name I have discarded. I am Matthew Vale O'Connell." Matt corrected, but with a curt and disgruntled look.
"Ahh, what's a matter? Afraid of your HERITAGE?!" He shouted the word in an angry voice, and swung his long, powerful, broad sword towards the same man he had just looked upon with a look of friendship's head.
"Holy--!" Matt blocked the sword with his dagger. "Glory, man, are you trying to kill m-- Oh, yeah. You are." He groaned. "Time to play." Then he drew his sword and swiped it at Dain's feet.
"Of course I am trying to kill you." Dain swung his sword in a heavy swing again. "Holy..."
Matt caught the blade with his blade in a clean move, and tried to dis-arm the man.
"Try something I don't expect." In a clean swoop Dain took Matt's sword out of his hand and cut his leg wide open.
"Agh!" Matt caught his leg with his left hand and hit the ground sprawling in pain.
"Now, Holareth... It is time to die, don't you agree?"
"Good hustle on the attack Dain. But you lose points for major stupidity." Matt shot out as he jumped to his feet.
"You still talk smack like a sailor, even in the face of almost certain...Death?" Dain mocked.
"Funny, Dain. You must be mistaking me for someone who isn't about to give you a black eye." Matt ripped the knuckle of his leather gauntlet deep into the general's eyes.
"Arg!"
"That's all you have to say? Haa...Dumb, ugly, and now not even original anymore. That's sad." Matt grabbed his sword up and stabbed Dain below the waist in a powerful blow.. "Forget about fathering children" Matt added.
Dain couldn't find words to say, but he did let out a blood-curdling shriek.
"You are a shell of your former self, Dain, a fool, and a coward. You are a disgrace to warriors everywhere. And worse, your father." Matt lectured.
"..." Dain was still in too much pain to even speak.
"Now, YOU die." Matt raised his sword above Dain's head, but Endu ran in and interrupted it. "We don't have that kinda' time! The building's goin' down!" Endu grabbed Matt by the arm and started to run.
"But... Wait... Damn." Matt ran alongside the boy, as the building imploded on top of Dain. "Where the hell did El'Rich and the girls go?" Matt asked as the two ran off the encampment.
"Uhm, I'm not sure. They rescued the slaves, but I don't know where
they went exactly."
"Greeat." Matt sighed and dove into the woods.
