And Fire Emblem borrows everything from myths and legends, along with events in history (the Crusaders and the Crusade, anybody?) but no one complains.

Anyway, it's not uncommon for a work of fiction to take inspiration from another work of fiction. Take a look at "Young Goodman Brown" (Nathaniel Hawthorne) and "The Man in the Black Suit" (Stephen King). Both excellent short stories, but essentially have the same plotline; King took all his ideas from Hawthorne's story, but people overlook it.

And come on...everything that's a medieval fantasy draws a little something from Tolkien. He made up, well, everything, so you can't fault someone for drawing a little idea from his works.

On topic though, I never got into the series >.>. So...heh.

I like this series a bunch, even though some of the plot arcs are kinda wonky. It's certainly better then a lot of the newer books coming out about other fantasy subjects.

Oh cool, even if the story is unoriginal (which I have no opinion on) I can't wait to see how it ends. I should prolly go brush up on Brisingr again though.

i cant wait.I love his books.I wont deny that he took inspiration from other material, but who hasn't?J.R.R Tolkien practically invented everything.
If he took everything from other materials, then how did he invent his own language?
