Basically how I've seen it. It's a feel-good experience for Americans to close the chapter, but nothing really changes. Life goes on.

Al-Qaeda has to choose a worse leader. Osama inspired thousands upon thousands to join Al-Qaeda, the next leader won't be able to do that. Also, it was a symbolic part of the War Against Terrorism.

The ball is in the United States' court then. It's quite obvious that they, against all logic, represent the thinking of the western world and is the single largest major factor as Christian beliefs are so heavily ingrained in the American politics (especially as you go further right for whatever reason). If they can shake the idea that they're a Christian nation, Al-Qaeda's standing may change (as a core statement of theirs is a belief of Christian-Jewish conspiracy, likely stemming from US-Israeli closeness).
