No, the first round is in groups, then the top 2 teams in the group advance to the next round, and it's knockouts from then.

The Nigerian goalkeeper was the man of the day for sure. God, he was awesome. If it wasn't for him, I'm convinced Argentina would have scored at least two more goals.

England was disappointing, in my view. So in the end I think it's a pretty just result.

Yes, that goalkeeper had a hell of a game for Nigeria.

Opposite for Green. If he hadn't slipped up, I'm convinced it would've stayed 1-0.

Tino, the only reason Gurcouff appeared toplay badly is because theres been in fighting in the french camp and some players wouldn't pass to him. There were atleast three occasions where he was ahead of Anelka in a good position but Anelka wouldn't pass to him...

I'm waiting for Green to be crucified in tomorrows papers, what a mistake. was AMAZED they didn't bring on your only skillful player: Joe Cole, you brought on midget man instead. Gerrard, Johnson and Ashley were the only ones that tried...

Nigeria's keeper kept them in the game, but the rest of the team couldn't score, nobody was in the box to get on the end of crosses, which there were a lot of, yakubu who is a centre forward was crossing into the box, why?

South Korea beat greece easily, because they scored first, if Greece had scored first the whole match would have been 11 players on the line and completely unwatchable

^Heskey was a star player in that game. And Green, let's not go there. Lampard was invisible, Wright-Phillips was alright, Lennon had flashes. CB is now a huge problem with King out.

Oh, and we didn't take enough advantage of the two CBs.

And Nigeria had terrible decision making for each player. But still, they showed Argentina had room to improve on defence.

To sum up my reaction to England:

Hah, that face is classic. Carragher was lucky not to receive a red.

Heskey was good, but SWp in front of Joe Cole was criminal.

^There was a reaction of unison from two england assistants after Heskey missed the one on one. They both bowed at the same time, and when they replayed it my friend just goes: "That's before he shoots when they see it's him who has the ball" haha priceless

lol, he just shoots it straight at the keeper, classic Heskey there.

And yeah, I'd have preferred the left-sided Joe Cole than the right-sided SWP.

Finally a good match again! Germany was great. Best match so far, definitely. Too bad for the Australians, though...

Yes, that was the best match so far. The injuries they suffered don't appear to have harmed the team too much.

Bump for first big upset of the tournament.

Spain seemed to give up a bit near the end.

The Swiss just pulled off one of the largest stunts I could imagine.

And I love it.

lol, it's great to see an underdog victory like that. Spain are going to get exposed on the counterattack more in the future.

If Pique hadn't been spear axed in the head by the Swiss player that did a flip from casillas tackle the goal could have been avoided. Ah well

Higuain was class today, a hat trick

Forlan was great yesterday, but that other striker with longish black hair was awful, missed a bunch of sitters and was completely selfish

COME ON MEXICO!

Why oh why did he leave henry on the bench, he actually looked good against Uruguay, for the 10 minutes he was playing.

But THANK YOU MEXICO. Hernandez goal sheer class

Because there's mutiny in the squad?

Hernandez looks pretty good, looking forward to next season.

But I really liked Dos Santos, he looks a much better player than the first time at Spurs.

Dos Santos, like a machine, does he not get tired, 80th minute still running like there's no tomorrow.

He's still a spurs player, lets hope he plays

Higuain was great today, even if they were easy goals, espcially the second

Yeah, I think he was out on loan this season, it looks to have helped. Otherwise, something clicked.

Yeah, Higuain with the hat-trick was pretty good. Argentina seem to be gaining momentum.

Yeah but against a half good team Gutierrez and Demichelis are going to be caught out so badly

Yeah, he was out on loan at Galatasary for the season, definitely helped.

Greece managed to win a match? News to me...

It was Nigeria though >_>

And a lot of teams are going to be exposed in one way or another. Spain, Holland and Argentina all looked a bit weak defensively. England are slow at centre-back.
